The Story Out Of Texas UPDATED

May 07, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, I was trying to find a mainstream media source for this story that isn’t a pay-to-view.

I’ll give you the skinny now and look for backup as I get it.

There is a woman named Shelley Luther, who owns Salon a la Mode in Dallas.  She opened her salon two weeks before the Governor cleared salons to open. The City of Dallas issued Luther a citation, followed by a cease-and-desist letter and a restraining order from the county.

Under the Governor’s mandate, people who violated the opening dates could be send to jail for 6 months and fined $25,000. (I think I have those numbers right, but I’ll check later.)

Luther ignores the citation.  In fact, she expected it and had the Texas Ignorant Gun-Toting Hoard milling around outside her salon.  She’s just a regular Rosa Parks, that woman.

So, she’s hauled into court, screaming that she has the right to feed her family.  She’s just trying to feed her family.  Her kids are grown, but I guess they still need feeding. The judge offers her a solution, which was very nice of him because beauty shops open tomorrow anyway and she damn well could have waited three days like every other beautician who really does have kids.

The judge told Luther he would consider not giving her jail time if she would agree to close until the governor’s order was lifted and “if she admitted that she was wrong, that she was selfish, and that she should apologize to the elected officials whose orders she violated.”

So, she got mouthy with the judge, smarting off about her kids and that she would not admit she did anything wrong. It’s the Donald Trump defense – lie and never admit you made a mistake.

Dallas Civil District Judge Eric Moye, who issued the restraining order, found Luther both criminally and civilly in violation of the law.  Moye sentenced Luther to seven days in jail and a $7,000 fine. Now, I want to stop here and tell you something. If you are ever in front of a judge and he or she makes you a nice offer, say, “Thank you,” and then shut the hell up.

I’m  going to stop the story right here and give you some information you didn’t have until now.  Luther is a white female with big bleached blonde hair.  Judge Moye is an African America male who is a graduate of SMU and Harvard law school.  So, now you can understand what happens next.

Greg Abbott says this isn’t right and immediately changed the language in his own executive order.  I do know he took out the jail part and lowered the fine. I think it says, “Wait. Wait. Wait. We didn’t mean white people.”

And then Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton uses official office stationery to have an ex-parte communication, which some say was threatening, with Judge Moye and Paxton makes it public. Eleven other state district court judges respond to Paxton that you cannot have ex-parte communications with a judge.  Paxton knows that but he doesn’t care.  He’s been indicted for felony tax fraud in 2015 and still hasn’t gone to trial.

Today, the Supreme Court of Texas ruled that Shelley Luther can go free this afternoon.

The Supreme Court of Texas is all Republican and all white.

UPDATED:  This woman is running for public office.

Half a million dollars.  Yeah, she’s going to share that money with hairdressers who really do have kids to feed.  (sarcasm drip)

Be social and share!

is it time for the Federal Gov’t to take over the State of Texas, and declare it an outlaw state?

We are a two bit state in a third world country. November 3rd can’t get here soon enough!

If the federal government includes Bill Barr, then won’t do any good. Bill Barr just threw out Mike Flynn’s guilty plea and he’s free to lie and cheat again

    4
  4. And Barr has done that with Flynn.

I cannot express my disgust for the GOP, a party of greed and hate.

  5. treehugger says:

This is beyond disgusting. Sadly, I think it could have happened in any number of states, not just here in Texas. My hatred of Republicans grows daily, even though I keep thinking I can’t hate them any more than I do now. People keep talking about how March and April were endless months because of COVID, but I think every week that goes by that we still have Republicans in charge and Trump in the White House is endless. Has nothing to do with COVID. The months until November will be long and miserable. Every day I pray we can get these monsters out of office.

If we can change the guard in November, prosecutions of every sleazebag in drumpf’s stable should commence on January 21, 2021! Starting at the top!

Yup. Didn’t we all sorta expect this?

Scofflaw Shelley needs to learn a life lesson regarding subjecting her employees and patrons to life threatening
danger. I’ll betcha she won’t have them wear masks or
stay 6 feet apart either. A true Trumpian.

    Grandma Ada @3,
We’ve been a cesspool state since about 1995, and a “shithole” country since [exactly] 21 Jan 2017.

Can y’all imagine any Democrats trying this stuff, the blowback would crack the earth open [not that any Dem would].

Can y’all now see what I’ve been raving about since the late 1990’s? We have been on a course to full-on fascism for many decades. Now we are effectively there at the door, both feet on the threshold. Do we get dragged, or stumble into, that pit of evil? They have their ‘perfect’ Führer in place, if he can hold on.
They barely hide it anymore, if they win in November look for it to get exponentially worse. Most of you are far too ‘gentle’ to have seen this disease growing in our midst.
Now we are almost ready to succumb to this plague, unless we can exterminate the disease vectors in November [against all odds].

  11. thatotherjean says:

So, the government of Texas is taking after the government of the United States now? The Attorney General of the United States decided to drop the prosecution of Mike Flynn, too. But he already plead guilty–not that that matters to Barr. Throw them all out in November!

  12. Local teevee reports she’s filing for bankruptcy.

  13. I called Abbott’s office to complain about the hypocrisy of his release of Shelly. I was told by his secretary that he didn’t release her the state Supreme Court did. So I pointed out to her that he had to change the rule in order for them to do it. Then, she hit me with the fact it also released to other people who have been arrested for similar problems.

Funny thing there, those two women have been in jail since April 20 I believe. At least when I looked them up it showed him in jail uniforms. It may have been a booking photo and nothing else. Here’s the kicker they were both Hispanic and were entrapped by police officers calling them for services.

I didn’t waste my time calling back and pointing out that that was even more hypocritical. The two Hispanic women stayed in jail for a month while the white woman never even served a day.

I’m finally moving my voter registration to Texas from Louisiana. I’ve had enough these guys have got to go.

  14. Jane & PKM says:

While “The Luther” would probably be a sketchy name for a beauty salon, Salon a la Mode isn’t exactly the best advertisement for the mess above Shelley’s pie hole.

A GoFundMe page for a political campaign? Thought that organization was for charitable contributions and had a modicum of rules.

  15. Dinah Bleau says:

Didn’t the Republicans used to believe in the Rule of Law?

“If Shelley Luther’s beauty salon was in South Dallas the lieutenant governor would’ve never paid her fine and she’d still be in jail,” Hansen said.

    AMEN, Dale.

L.Long @18, Problem is, ~43% of ‘Murikans are ecstatic to vote for a bona fide serial killer and all of his minions every day of the week, COVID19 or not.

Shelley is her own worst enemy. And COVID-19 doesn’t like her either. So far, some of the protesters in other states have come down witht the illness. And karma always knows your name and address.
