  1. Well they could select my Rep, Elise Stefanik
She is a moral coward. She would fit the bill.

    I guess they’re looking for a Stepford sister-wife!

BTW, Diane #1, Politico says that’s who McCarthy want s to pick.

  4. If I were a journalist I would put some effort into asking these Republican women just what it is they expected.

    Partnership? Piety? Community? Respect?

It is a serious question. Were they so fixated on keeping the non-whites in their place and locking down other women’s vaginas that they just never noticed what smelly thugs they were cuddling up with?

  5. Teh Gerg says:

I never thought I’d root for Liz Cheney, but here we go . . .

  6. Chloe Bear says:

Teh Gerg I feel the same way! The GQP remains rooted in the 1920s.

  7. The Surly Professor says:

From the article: “The Times reported that Kelly’s comment was immediately passed around circles of Republican women in professional Washington.”

… and they are still lined up to vote for the Republican agenda in every detail. Sure, our guys are rotten to women. But they’re sticking it to the libs!

    Sorta off-topic, but here’s a good laugh: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/04/us/politics/rudy-giuliani-warrant-trump.html?curator=upstract.com

Giuliani’s allies want T**** to pay for some of his legal bills from the $250M he raised to “stop the steal”. Yeah, right. Those “allies” are probably the lawyers who know they’ll never collect from Rudy. Plus does anyone really think that T**** will come through for his old buddy? The only way that will happen is if Rudy can roll over on him, and RG needs to be bribed to not release the dirt.

These guys either have the shortest memories in the world or no brains at all. Never mess with any of Ma And Pa Cheney’s kids. the ensuing pain is just not worth it! They disbelieve this at their own peril.

  9. thatotherjean says:

Madam Speaker called a spade a spade.

Republican men can’t seem to relate to women–even women in Congress–as equals, so Mike Kelly described Liz Cheney–the most powerful woman in the Senate–as a disappointing girlfriend. Republican women SHOULD be outraged. They should stop voting for things that lessen them, denigrate them, and seek to control them–but they won’t. I will never understand.

  10. Jane & PKM says:

maggie @8, sadly the days of being invited to hunt with Dick are a thing of the past, like the GOP. The QOP has won. Liz Cheney as the model for “the last decent Republican”? Yeah. They’re done.

It’s another day and another question for DaChipster. No one can answer a question quite like DaChipster with his inside knowledge of politics!

2014/2015. Remembering back to when Donnie** was not the RNC’s candidate when at least some of PTBs had some sense of what a tRump candidacy would mean. He was not welcome. Then he had that meeting with then RNC chair Reince Priebus, and wham a 180 degree about face for the RNC. Reince never had that kind of power; look at where he is now for confirmation. I “get” that Reince was directed by Morton C. Blackwell. But why? Mort has been the RNC for decades. He trained Pence, McConnell and most of the conservatives at his The Leadership Institute. Pence has been neutered, McConnell is apoplectic, and the destructive bomb Mort set off in the GOP has won. WTH was Mort thinking?

  11. megasoid says:

If someone is being unkind or petty or jealous or distant or weird, you don’t have to take it in. You don’t have to turn it into a big psychodrama about your worth. That behavior so often is not even about you. Don’t own other people’s crap.

  12. slipstream says:

Jane & PKM: When Samaria erected a golden idol for worship, Hosea commented “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind.” (Hosea 8:7)

Now the Republicans have erected a golden idol, and require worship of the lie. Doesn’t take a prophet to see what comes next.

    12
  13. Jane & PKM says:

slipstream, the last place one would expect an ‘explanation’ for the QOP would be the buybull. Despite their claims to the contrary the only times they have been likely to open one is when they’re in need of nesting materials for their roach survival or out of two-ply.

  14. The Speaker in Nancy Smash mode! Yippee!

    14
  15. Harry Eagar says:

Just behind Cheney is Cathy Rogers, graduate of Pensacola Bible College.

Where liberals see outrageous sexism, evangelicals see god’s ordinance of order and justification. At least half — probably more — of republican women will see nothing wrong with that. The half of evangelical men will approve, and the residue of 40% yahoo and fratboys won’t see anything wrong either.

Expect about 6 or 7 Republicans to be offended.

  16. Buttermilk Sky says:

Liz Cheney just figured out that she only got the job because they needed a Girl to point to (“See? We really like women even though they need us to control their bodies and protect their sports and bathrooms from those trans freaks”). She should quit and become an Independent.
