The Dog Caught The Car
Put up or shut up.
Fish or cut bait.
Honey, if you want to run with the big dogs, you gotta get out from under the porch.
It looks like the repeal of Obamacare is gonna stall in the Senate. Rand Paul, Bob Corker, Tom Cotton, and Susan Collins are saying “No, not until we have another plan,” and a fifth senator, Lisa Murkowski is raising her eyebrows. The Republican Senator from Nevada, Dean Heller, has got to be nervous because Hillary won his state and Obamacare is very popular there 53/46.
And guess who is having a little fun with this?
Next you’ll hear the sound of roaring silence.
They’ve had 8 years to come up with a plan. I seriously doubt they are going to do it in 20 days.
Encouraged. Send them e-mails. Go fight win.
1“Okay, Medicare, smarty pants. Ah, no wait drat, this could be a trap!”
2Every cloud has a silver lining – for Democrats, the dark cloud of aTrump presidency has the silver lining of everyone remembering what Republicans do when they get into power, rather than their empty promises when out of power.
3@RepubAnon: the democrats have got to do a better job of reminding everyone what hypocrites and liars republicans are; like what Bernie Sanders did with Trump’s tweet regarding SS and ACA.
4@GIF: I agree – Republicans need to experience consequences for their actions. President Obama tried to reach across the aisle, and the Republicans responded with scorn and bad faith negotiations. Once Democrats regain power, we should treat the Republicans to a taste of their own medicine – and constantly remind everyone that all we’re doing is treating the Republicans to a taste of the Golden Rule. Doing unto Republicans the way Republicans did unto Democrats should be the policy for at least 2-4 years, unless and until they change their evil ways.
5Miss Juanita Jean Herownself funny that you should mention Dean Heller. He hears from us regularly. As regards the ACA, NV and AZ are polar opposite contrasts. With no thanks to former Gov Jan Brewer, AZ is experiencing rate hikes over 100%, whereas NV is ~6% this year. Thank you Gov Sandoval and President Obama; while Jane and I took a 2% hike on our policy this year, it was not accompanied by a reduction in benefits with an increase in deductibles. Prior to the ACA, insurance was out of control. While we don’t qualify for any subsidy, we appreciate the intangible benefits the ACA has provided us.
If one doesn’t remember what insurance was like before the ACA, it’s a fair indication of being snacilbupeR and living in a red state.
6And this just in…. Marsha Blackburn (Idiot – Tenn.) Twitter polled, um, make that trolled, asking people if they wanted to repeal the ACA.
84% said NO!
Bwahahahahahahahaha…..
7OH! I am going to miss Obama! Not only has he thwarted the Republicans who were determined to oust him from the White House, he has had so much fun doing it. And the whole time he has served as an excellent president. It has been so much fun to watch.
8GOP Healthcare Plan: “Don’t Get Sick! And if You Do Get Sick, Die Quickly!”‘
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-usmvYOPfco
9And, as a bonus, Obama’s a nerd. There was a great photo of him brandishing a Star Wars lightsaber, with Michelle’s expression saying, “You can dress ’em up, but you can’t take ’em anywhere without being embarrassed.”
10Rhea: So I guess you’re saying that the subtitle of this post could be ……..wait for it…….. REVENGE OF THE NERDS. get it? See what I did there? On a side note, right about now is when my oldest daughter would roll her eyes and call me a nerd. Good times.
11Correction. It’s dork. Often all caps.
12I heard they already have a name for the Republican health care plan.
13Instead of Obamacare it’ll be called TrumpDon’tCare.
I e-mailed Lisa Murkowski, Don (old fart) Young, and Dan (carpet bagger) Sullivan about this. I got the usual Republican tap dance from Sullivan which I didn’t even bother to read. Glad to hear Lisa is paying attention. She listens to us Alaskans every once in awhile.
I pointed out to them that in my family of seven, five wouldn’t have been able to get insurance without Obamacare. My daughter and I are/were Alaska State employees, so we are okay.
14“The Roaring Silence” best album Manfred Mann ever recorded, since it is the only one of heirs that I have. Actually it is on cassette tape from back in the early 80’s.
15Some good cartoons about the “GOP replacement for Obamacare,” but this is the only one that literally made me laugh out loud (and we could use a laugh):

16Rhea, Donnie has strayed way beyond comics and comedians.
What Donnie has done, sent his spox out to say, and tweeted rests firmly on the shoulders of the snacilbupeR in Congress. Rest assured we have notified our snacilbupeR Dean Heller that it’s time to take action against the barking yam, his family and his appointees ready to disassemble the agencies Donnie would appoint them to. Dean has a choice; say no to the oligarch cabinet or run in fear of the next election.
Hang tough Democratic Senators, it’s up to “we the people” to strike fear into the soulless snacilbupeR.
17“Soulless snacilbupeR”– I hope that two years from November, and two years after that, the voters remember what the GOP does when it gets off leash, and how few fox they give about ordinary people who don’t give them millions in contributions.
18The problem is that they will have an even freer hand than usual to change all the rules to benefit them. That’s one big thing that worries me.
19Not so much dog/car as catching a tiger by the tail.
The Repubs have been riding the Obamacare issue for years, rousing the base and collecting money. They never wanted to repeal it. I suspect the same is true of Roe/Wade. Repealing it would provide a wonderful rallying point for liberals.
Tigers have teeth, guys. Though they might gag on a Republican.
20Hey. I know what they can replace it with.
Medicare for all.

Someone has probably already posted this link. Rachel Maddow had a segment about it on her show and some Dems have talked about it too. The title comes from the Pledge of Allegiance, “One Nation, Indivisible.” It’s about being the Truly Loyal Opposition and uses real grassroots skills to effectively organize.
22JAKvirginia, Old Marsha will probably to believe the results of that poll and film flam her way through a press conference about the suffering of her people under Obamacare. She’s gone that way before about other subjects. Thats one way of saying how smart she is not. Another way is she would probably take a dare to lick the bottom of a hot skillet!
23LynnN, right you are! What they so blithely forgot is that a repeal is one helluva lot of work and since work is a four letter word, and really really really hard, that is just not in their bailiwick. Watch them bumble and stumble repeatedly and get nowhere, especially when they and the rest of us find out how much it will cost!!! Oh, the instantaneous conversions!
24LynnK at #14, brings to a theme song for the Republicans in the House, BO JANGLES!
25@epo
“Manfred Mann”??? Mighty Quinn. written by Time Lord Sir Bob of Dylan. Ohh to re-visit 1969. Change outcomes of some mistakes made. Make other mistakes far more frequently. Survive the re-visit. 🙂
26maggie, at #24. There is NO work for th Reps; the insurance companies have this under control and they have money!!
27@gabberflasted
Love Mr Bojangles. Love Jerry Jeff Walker. snacilbupeR not so much. Associating Mr Bojangles, JJF, and snacilbupeR doesn’t give me any joy.
Now if you meant the awful, greasy “southern-fried” chicken place Bojangles with its 48 ounce biscuits, then yeah I see the point of the comparison: slimy on the table, indigestible, and one can only rid oneself of the result with violent vomit or diarrhea.
28JAK, re Blackburn (Idiot-TN), I am sure that she has concluded that they didn’t understand the question, and disregard the answer.
29The rethugs are trying very hard to ignore the public. Ryan called security rather than accept petitions. Great guy. He hasn’t any idea what to do about healthcare. He has great healthcare and the hell with everyone else. Say, why not reduce the salary of congress critters to the current minimum wage? Then perhaps they would be open to ACA.
30I may have posted this before. If so, sorry. The Snacilbupers promised the American people affordable, universal healthcare as part of the Contract on America back in 1994. So it’s not six years or eight years, it’s twenty two years since they were going to introduce a “great healthcare plan” if only the American people would disregard the one being proposed by Bill and Hillary Clinton. Yeah, an awful lot of people have very short term memories in the USA.
31I know that the R’s barely listen to their constituents, but if Medicare is interfered with insurance companies will have to pay a lot more for their retirees. For instance, I have Medicare for my primary insurance, and as a retiree from Alaska, I have that as a secondary. Guess who has to increase their payouts if Medicare is damaged? This isn’t the case with everyone, but it is widespread enough that insurance companies are going to howl if Medicare is messed with. Go capitalists.
32Mary Beth, as the surviving widow of a federal retiree, I wonder if the share of his pension that I inherited will increase if my Medicare gets tinkered with by the R’s? Would LOVE to know the answer to that and ASAP!
