The Damnest Thing

July 08, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Lt. Col Alexander Vindman retired today after 21 years of exemplary military service.

His attorney says Vindman has endured a “campaign of bullying, intimidation, and retaliation” spearheaded by Trump following his testimony in the impeachment probe last year.

It was about his promotion to Colonel.

Vindman was told that that there have been discussions within the Department of Defense about sending his name forward on a “list of one” or holding his name back until after the election to avoid impacting the promotions of other service members, the source said.

He testified that he believed he wouldn’t (edited to correct) be retaliated against for his testimony.  He was wrong. Even his twin brother was retaliated against.

Remember when that used to be wrong?

  1. JJ I think you meant to write “he testified that he WOULDN’T be retaliated against.”

If this is what we do to exemplary soldiers, why would anyone want to join the military? The army is losing an excellent man, who should be retired as a full colonel–but won’t be, because Trump is both malicious and spiteful, and inserts himself into military procedures in which he has no business. He may the the C-in-C, but it’s not HIS military.

The Army seems to need help. We’ve been listening to the reporting regarding the death and subsequent body discoverY of Guellen (sp?) and now Vindman’s retirement. Who knows what else never makes the news. Perhaps the top brass need to read Make Your Bed and do a report on it. As for the elected head of the military, he doesn’t give a flip, in fact I think he does things just for the joy doing evil gives him!

  4. I’m sad to say that what is happening to this honorable, brave man is about par for the course. Just take a look at that wacko officer that ordered his men to murder some innocnt civilians they met ona a bridge. Under foul duress they did so and htey have to live with it unhappily into eternity. It seems this officer AND tRump can’t tell the difference between an actual real offical army and a buncy of gang bangers who control their motley crew with orders to murder any victim they choose. My husband and his 3 brothers, all now long dead, deemed it an honor to serve in uniform. If they were alive they would have been sickened damn near to death by the murder and the pardon and the freaking medal! I hope Biden does something about this as soon as he is sworn in. Retrive the medal in a unformed ceremony, hand him over ot armed guards for a perp walk to the stockade and re-up the trial while abolishing the pardon.

  5. Here we have an honorable soldier who endured a “campaign of bullying, intimidation, and retaliation” by the President, the same President who defends statues and flags of Confederate traitors.

I’m surprised there was no mention of Sen. Duckworth’s hold on all promotions to ensure that Vindaman wasn’t retaliated against. He may have fallen on his sword so that all those would-be colonels and generals wouldn’t have their promotions held up.

This makes me so angry and disgusted. And rumor has it that Trump wants to be buried at Arlington. They could leave his body out for the vultures, but they probably wouldn’t want him. Donald the Destroyer has ruined everything he’s touched. There is not one single thing that has been made better in this country since he was elected.

I took my wife and daughter to tell my the reason TikTok is on the chopping block^ is *really* because of the abysmal attendance at Boss Tweet’s recent rallies because TikTokers stopped “valid” attendees from getting a Covid-19 exposure…

  9. Steve from Beaverton says:

He went after Lt Col Vindman during the same time when he knew Russia was paying to support our enemy in Afghanistan. Troops have died because of his inaction. Trumpf says he’s strong on our military. His actions show he doesn’t give a shit about our military. Add this to the long list of reasons even repugnanticans should finally abandon him.

    9
  10. Disgusting to see this honorable man join the long line headed by Sally Yates. Don’t suppose John Cornyn, the soldiers’ friend, has anything to say about it?
Sen. Duckworth is said to be retaining the hold on promotions pending info on retaliation against Vindman.

  11. Elizabeth Moon says:

Trump has never given a flip about the military except as power he might call on at will. He has shown disrespect to veterans, active duty personnel, military families, in multiple ways, from day one of his presidency. I’m a veteran; I despise him for the way he assumes the right to spend lives without taking any responsibility and without honoring the lives he spends.

And that’s before we get to his treason. If the military had not been thoroughly politicized by the GOP in the late ‘Nam & post-Nam periods, it might not be populated by so much right wing stupidity.

Well, so much for holding his name back to avoid impacting the promotions of other service members.

The Honorable Tammy Duckworth is holding up every other person being put forward for promotion.

    You go, girl!

Corp. Bone Spurs has no business in Arlington. If he is buried there, all others – who served honorably – need to be moved to truly sacred ground.
