The Countdown
The Guardian has a story that caught my fancy.
Donald Trump will soon use “his own platform” to return to social media, an adviser said on Sunday, months after the former president was banned from Twitter for inciting the US Capitol riot.
So, he’s coming out with his own Twitter. I don’t care what he calls it, I’m calling it Bitter.
I can promise you that within hours, every Democrat will be banned and all that will be left are old straight white men who type in ALL CAPS so you can hear them better and pre-pubescent boys still trying to “own the libtards.” It will be a collection of perverts and scalawags who end up talking more porn than politics and be a majestic display of bad spelling.
I wonder where you apply for pre-banning?
I give it six weeks before Trump claims media bias against him by his own company. Old habits are hard to break.
By the way, the story also contains this tidbit.
Miller emphasised the hold Trump retains on his party.
“He’s already had over 20 senators over 50 members of Congress either call or make the pilgrimage to Mar-a-Lago to ask for [his] endorsement,” he said.
Okay, so my math is tad rusty but 20 senators isn’t even half of the Republicans. Trump couldn’t win his own caucus in the senate, but he’s doing even worse in the house with less than a fourth. That’s not a hold, that’s an ankle bite.
Bitter. I’m calling that.
My personal favorite was someone (sorry can’t recall name to give credit) calling it Heil Space.
1I’m speculating that it will go the way of t* steaks, t* water, t* airlines, etc., etc., etc. So, unless he hires competent people and actually lets them do their competent thing this little venture will be doomed also.
2Are the ~20 / ~50 Rs that pilgrimaged there part of a super-spreader event?
” Mar-a-Lago, has been partially closed because of a Covid outbreak.”

3I wish I’d thought of it, but I heard someone refer to it as “Fritter”
4Speaking of t* airlines, did you see the story this past weekend about t*’s 757 parked at a New York airport for the past couple of years? One engine removed from the jet, I read it needs A LOT of other costly repairs before it could ever fly again. The report says it would be in the six figures to repair it. And I don’t think t* has the money to do this. Meaning, he’ll likely remain in Florida. I don’t see him flying commercial, do you? Even in first class? It was a very enjoyable story.
5A little O/T but what I have always found interesting (in a ten car smashup on the freeway sense) is how li’l Donnie took what was probably one of the most profitable commuter airlines of its day (the Eastern Shuttle) and ran it into the ground through a series of decisions so stupid that even a rookie businessman wouldn’t make them, yet, even in those days, he was supposedly a brilliant businessman.
6JDS@5 — Just as there are plenty of pro golfers and other orange-pancake-sniffers still willing to play 18 with him, there will be no shortage of corporados willing to cart him around on the corporate Gulfstream if he needs a ride somewhere. The real reason I don’t expect him to leave Fla is that — once he gets indicted in NY or Georgia — he’ll need DeathSantis to protect him from extradition.
7I’m for anything that drains his wallet. He’s always been bad at making money, but great at losing it.
8Fritter wins. (Sorry, JJ). It’s just so perfect.
9I wonder if he has already hired enough Ukrainians to post sycophantic rants to keep it active?
10Someone in the tRump crime family actually build and maintain something? They’re more inept than Bekah Mercer. Parler is back after crashing, bit rather wobbly. Expect the tRump launch to fizzle faster than a Scaramucci.
11Bitter and Fritter are great. But it’ll always be Shitter to me.
12Sorry Mama.
I agree with J&PKM @11. Although it looks easy to someone who has never had to deal with the nuts and bolts, setting up a large scalable social network is hard. Twitter and Facebook were able to start slowly, make mistakes, and swap out the backend technology multiple times before they became behemoths. Of course T**** is oblivious to the technological requirements and is unaware of the existing infrastructure that he will have to use. Wanna bet that he insists the servers have gold-plated (or gold painted) covers on them, with an ornate gothic “T” on each one?
However … I may sign up for accounts on whatever comes out with T****’s name on it. Partly to monitor, but mostly to be able to throw in smoke grenades periodically to keep the monkeys screeching and turned against each other.
13I’m guessing that it’ll have a subscription model, with a big set-up charge.
14Agree with RepubAnon @14. Just another scam to extort money from his faithful. Once it goes belly up – he’ll pay the victim and say they censored him. It’ the same-ole same-ole moves.
15When the trumpf legal shit hits the fan, he and his followers can use his new social platform as a kind of “court teevee”.
16They’ll be able to rant non-stop amongst themselves. That should be interesting.
Like Trump’s late, great health care plan which he stated publicly was to be revealed 22 times “IN TWO WEEKS!”, I see this as the first announcement in a long string of announcements over the coming years. The social network’s version of “stay tuned”.
17From what I hear, the NY lawyers have a strong case against Trump which could put him in jail.
18I am also hearing that he is going to start his own show. I wonder if you are allowed to broadcast a show from prison?
Here’s wondering if he’ll try to claim the new space is “all new” technology, or if he’ll acknowledge “borrowing” some other sources.
19This reminds me. Whatever happened to Sarah Palin’s news channel?
20JDS2017 @ 5 It is a six-figure job just to do major scheduled overhaul of an airplane’s piston engines. For turbojets, make it 7 figures.
I will guess trump never owned that plane. I wonder who the lessor is. If I were still a newspaper reporter I’d look into that.
21His popularity seems to be decaying faster than fresh fruit, All I can see him coming up with is an IRC setup or a message board at a hosting service that won’t tolerate him for very long. He’s always had grandiose ideas with little follow through because details bore him and he’s too cheap to hire knowledgeable people to cope with them.
He’s the man who thought a gang of middle aged hooligans storming Congress while yelling “revolution” would actually start one.
So this news provoked a slight shrug, nothing mote.
22I read today that Twitter lost a billion dollars over its first ten years. If trump can’t afford to overhaul one plane, I doubt he could afford that. Especially if he has to hire a lot of real lawyers very soon.
23If this ever debuts, I predict it will hav ethe lifespan of Air Trump, Trump Steaks, Trump University, and so on. then he will rant about how unfair everything is.
