Kapernick was a disavowed man left to flounder in deep waters by the owners. This also applied to the people of Flint Twp. who, couldn’t get clean water.Updated Jan 20, 2019; Posted Oct 09, 2015
Edit: U.S. Rep. Dan Kildee, D-Flint Township, said, in part, “Flint is a financially distressed city, and it should not have to empty out its bank account to pay for the state’s failures.

So very true. An opportunity lost when Colin was brave enough to take a stand – or a knee! It cost him his career, which is a shame. Maybe he will finally get vindication, and the truth of his action will be recognized.

  7. Larry Rucks says:

Thank you Houston Chronicle for speaking the truth!!You are very brave to say in the state of Texas.

good going houston chronicle. never thought Colin got a square deal. until the people in this country actually wake up as to what has happened to this nation under Rump’s and the republicans nothing will change.

    Thank you!

  12. Richard Kleinknecht says:

The Houston Chronicle deserves a medal for having the courage to say this in what used to be red, racist Texas. I recall Sonny Liston saying he wouldn’t go to Houston for ML King’s marches because he “didn’t have a dog-proof butt”. Times seem to have changed for the better. Again, congratulations for doing the right thing.

  13. As I shared earlier, I shared this editorial with a few of my friends with a subject line “Truth”. This is a response I just received in return:
    ——————
“Once upon a time you told me not to share my beliefs with you.

I’m asking you for the same consideration.

    Thank you,
    (Omitted by me)”
    ————————
What do I make of THIS response?

  14. Aggieland Liz says:

Welp, @Jay, that person is obviously not part of the solution, so they must be part of the problem. For myself, I would demote them to “acquaintance” status, and mourn the loss…I’ve got family members that I love that are “acquaintances” now–we talk about the kids and the weather, never anything more controversial (or important) than that, sadly. Even sports can be a problem, sigh.

    15
  15. @ Aggieland Liz, thanks. Yes, I’m afraid I agree.
His religious belief was my previous request not to share, and if TRUTH counts as one of my ‘beliefs‘, I’ll own that & sadly, a change in our friendship status.

  16. Judith M Kuhn says:

Thanks for email for Houston Chronicle. You made it easy to send them my appreciation as follows:

“Thank you for the front page of the Sport’s section!

I live in that “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” on Chesapeake Bay, aka Baltimore. But I miss Molly Ivins so I try to keep up with how Texas is faring.  It’s wonderful to see such courageous journalism.”

    Keep the faith.”

@Jay #14 That person is not your friend, walk away, don’t look back

  18. Katherine says:

Today is the 99th anniversary of the Tulsa race massacre.

    19
  19. Thank you for sharing the Chronicle. We live way over here in New England and would be uninformed of their stand.
It pains me that America is going up in smoke. It pains me more that cops kill people!
The CV of the cop who killed Mr. Floyd is nauseating! How the hell was he still employed as a cop?
