6So very true. An opportunity lost when Colin was brave enough to take a stand – or a knee! It cost him his career, which is a shame. Maybe he will finally get vindication, and the truth of his action will be recognized.

12The Houston Chronicle deserves a medal for having the courage to say this in what used to be red, racist Texas. I recall Sonny Liston saying he wouldn’t go to Houston for ML King’s marches because he “didn’t have a dog-proof butt”. Times seem to have changed for the better. Again, congratulations for doing the right thing.

What do I make of THIS response?
Welp, @Jay, that person is obviously not part of the solution, so they must be part of the problem. For myself, I would demote them to “acquaintance” status, and mourn the loss…I’ve got family members that I love that are “acquaintances” now–we talk about the kids and the weather, never anything more controversial (or important) than that, sadly. Even sports can be a problem, sigh.
