Standing Up
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff wrote a letter affirming that he’s an American.
I’m gonna put the whole letter here. If you can’t read, click here for the full size.
It is sad that we live in a time that the CJSC has to remind the military that they defend the Constitution. It is good to live in a time where some men and women will say it out loud.
Wondered what they’ve been doing all this time during this banana republic horror show.Waiting for the intermission?

Only a start but a country mile further than Zuckerberg’s mealy mouthed denial for monster’s racist dog whistles.

2For the betting pool, I claim dibs on tomorrow evening for the announcment that Esper has suddenly decided he needs to spend more time inflicting himself on his family.
And that we have a new chairman of the joint chiefs of staff. Trump won’t have anyone around to tell him that it’s a Really Bad Idea (TM) to lash out at Milley, and it will come as a shock to him to discover that he can’t just appoint Jughead Kushner as replacement chairman of the JCS.
Secretly, I’d love it if Jughead did try to chair that group. They’re not exactly the kind of people who will suffer fools, gladly or otherwise. Imagine JK wilting the first time the Commandant of the Marine Corps shouts at him.
3If you liked that you’ll love James Mattis’s statement in the Atlantic. Too bad he didn’t get religion a few years ago.

4Milley is the same tubby rascal who walked with Trump on the March of Shame to St. John’s Church wearing combat fatigues (that didn’t flatter his figure, to say the least). I guess he must be feeling shame over that and this is his way of compensating.
5Never trust an officer without a DOS or however many planned retirement stars in hand. Evidenced by every quisling retired and not retired who served in this maladministration. Mattis, Flynn, Kelly, and every other who would defend themselves with the claim of “doing it for the country.” No boys, not for me, so please do not blaspheme my name our my country in support of your misdeeds. Name one policy of this maladministration that has been for the country.
6Damn glad to know that somoneone somewhere in the guvmint has a backbone!
7While I am pleased to see the military brass speaking out for reasonable policing and democratic values, that does not make me forget how they policed Iraq and continue to police Afghanistan.
8Given how low the bar for behavior is in this administration, the fact that Esper and Milley appear to be ashamed of participating in Trump’s church photo op makes them standouts among the current crop of enablers.
