Some Good Readin’

August 16, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

From our friend Craig.  It’s in USA Today of all places.

I don’t care if Sen. Elizabeth Warren is a mendacious Massachusetts liberal. She could tell me that she’s going to make me wear waffles as underpants and I’ll vote for her. I don’t care if Sen. Kamala Harris is an opportunistic California prosecutor who wants to relitigate busing. She could tell me that I have to drive to work in a go-cart covered with Barbie decals and I’ll vote for her. I don’t care if Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders is a muddle-headed socialist from a rural class-warfare state (where I once lived as one of his constituents). He could tell me he’s going to tax used kitty litter and I’ll vote for him.

I don’t care if Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is clearly influenced by a hostile foreign government or that Marianne Williamson is a weird, anti-science guru. They could …

Wait. I do care about that. It’s the reason they won’t get my vote next year, and why the president won’t either.

All of the policy “what about” hypotheticals from my conservative friends are diversions. They’re trying to move the argument to policy to blind us to the reality that President Donald Trump is both unstable and compromised.

Go on and read the whole damn thing.  It’s Friday.  What else you got to do?

Be social and share!

  1. This is more pretense that there are reasonable RepubliKKKans, there are not, not those who would ever vote for a democrat.

It is meant to push the Overton window right.

The corporatists who are still running can’t manage to garner more than a percentage point or two, in the polls. The exception to that is Joe Biden, but he may have already stepped in it on the race issue.

The DNC is desperately trying to forward their agenda, by pushing things such as this.

That could be a good sign. It might mean the DNC knows it’s not going to get away with cheating out the primaries, again.

But don’t believe it, not for a second. Running RepubliKKKan Lite gets Democrats beat.

  2. WA Skeptic says:

“Waffle Pants”, “Barbie Stickers” Either is good enough for me.

    2
  3. Jane & PKM says:

“Beware the false prophet” Republicon speak = expect that the Cons are concern trolling us. As for the DNC, they have either learned from 2016, or they have not. Likeable as he might be, Biden is Hilz Redux 2016. So far Tom Perez/DNC are letting this primary reach its logical conclusion. There’s hope.

  4. I’ll let Bernie tax my used cat litter. I’ll even wear those Barbie stickers on the waffle underpants. I’m not impressed with Biden’s inability to tip toe around the bull patties. But I’d vote for him if he’s the choice.

  5. Jane & PKM says:

Papa, while I think Biden might return us to a 2016 electoral repeat, you’re correct. He’s better than any Republicon. He’s a gaffe goof, but at least he doesn’t intend to dismantle our government agencies and make us the pariah of the world.

Imagine Mikey Dense debating either a VP candidate Harris or Warren. That would definitely be worth the price of admission.

    5
  6. For context I do support Sen. Warren.
Two good pieces of news about Sen Warren this past week.
    1) From recenet survey she is dominating the “second” choice position. When those who are prefer a different D candinate as first choice who they would support if their candinate drops out Sen. Warren is crushing the rest of the field.
    2) Reports of a well run low key grassroots campaign being run. Every meeting, panel, board, conference or d coffee clatch has an “official” Warren representatives showing up. This is a campaign showing respect for the voters.

  7. Just like my two favorite baseball teams are the Texas Rangers and whoever today is playing the New York Yankees, assuming I live, I will vote for whichever Democrat is in the POTUS race against the sitting nacilbupeR president. Period. Dead, yellow dog, fer instance.

And down the ballot I’m voting for every Democrat first, then against every nacilbupeR candidate, even if that other candidate is Green, Socialist, or a What Ever.

If the nacilbupeR is unopposed I’ll write in my next door neighbor’s name or one of my daughters’ name.

NEVER again will I ever vote for a nacilbupeR.

Yes, I am bitter that these empty headed snacilbupeR friends and neighbors elected this moron POTUS. I am also unforgiving. Fuc* ’em all and the horse they rode in on.

  8. Jane & PKM says:

In an awkward leap over a very low bar, or maybe that was under a low bar, Log Cabin Republicons have endorsed IQ4.5. That’s some serious self-loathing gratitude just because Donnie has been so busy turning ICE into a fascist organization to round up citizens of a perceived ethnicity that he hasn’t had time to release Pence and his hounds to round up the gays for conversion therapy camp. Yeah. Give Donnie a second term to test that new found love.

Micr, a couple of words that were not allowed into my vocabulary as a boy were “hate” and “never.” The ‘rents were very adamant about those 2 words not being a part of our life. But Republicons in the era of IQ4.5 and Moscow Mitch have altered life to the extent that hating them and never electing them to office have pushed “hate” and “never” to part of a survival skills package.

    8
  9. OK, “nacilbupeR” is “Republican” spelled backwards. I had to look it up on Urban Dictionary, clueless old geezer that I am.

    9
  10. I know this won’t contribute much to the conversation about who’s the best Democrat.
And I know that I’ve beaten a dead horse to pulverisation about it, but we’ve got to figure out how to get freedom of speech so that the “loudest voice” doesn’t control the conversation

    10
  11. Shorter Tom Nichols: The Democrats suck but trump is worse.

    11
  12. @Hal

UD is too gentle in its definition of “nacilbupeR”. They are “nacilbupeR” because they, as a group, are straight-up a$$ backwards.

    12
  13. If Bernie or Tulsi or Marianne (or a few others I won’t bother to name) are the nominee, I will be done with the Democratic Party. We can do better. We have better in front of us. We MUST do better.

    13
  14. Micr, I also promised myself that I would never vote for a Republican again, and then I did. Sigh. Here in Pasco, WA we recently had a special election on a couple of minor local issues. One was for county coroner, an elected office. No Democrats were running, but two Republicans were. One had ignorant and mean-spirited racist crap on his Facebook page. The other was polite, and was endorsed by the local hospitals, EMTs, pathologists, and district attorneys.

    So I voted for him.

All other elections in the last few years and for the rest of my life I will not vote Republican. I promise.

    14
  15. Kermit: I hope the polite guy won! I would have done the same as you.

    15
  16. Linda Phipps says:

I find myself wishing very hard for a recession. Fenway Fran, none of the three would get the nod, the most likely of those three would be Sanders. I remember, like a generation ago, a winning political campaign was the result of the volunteers who deliberately defaced their own candidate’s posters.

    16
  17. If Scaramoochi is off Dotard, I don’t know if a recession is required. We can only hope he doesn’t take us all down with him as part of our nation’s loss of respect and influence…

    17
  18. I confess I voted for a Republican for county executive a few elections ago. The Democrat was a shoo-in, but he struck me as an arrogant jerk who felt entitled to the office, and I just didn’t like him.

Late in his second term, as the FBI was about to knock on the door, his wife stuffed $80,000 cash in her bra and, on his orders over the phone, flushed a $100,000 kickback check down the toilet. She was sentenced to a year and he got seven years and three months. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_B._Johnson)

The Democrat is not the better deal 100% of the time.

  19. @ Rhea # 18
Remember Lousiana gov. election of Edwards v. duke where the campaign slogan was either “Vote For the Crook. It’s Important.” or “Vote for the Lizard, not the Wizard.”

So foul as d candinate is they are better then the thuglican in all but a the cases where thuglican weasels run as d’s such as lipinski, cuellar etc, at least the thuglican is honest about where their loyalties lay.
