  1. Jane & PKM says:

Thanks, Kary. We might just put that on our gate for fun. Last time there was any foot traffic out this far was President Obama’s first campaign. That’s ok. If they can generate enthusiasm in the growing Reno/Sparks area, we’re good. Last week we might have used it as our phone message. William had the phone banks smoking which is good. Took them a couple of days to curb the more enthusiastic volunteers, as in don’t keep calling the people who are nice to you until they’re not.

  2. Laurel in California says:

So far just county supervisor incumbent, himself. Said to be a good guy, but his opponent is even more progressive. I took advantage of the moment, though, to ask for help getting a homeless couple into emergency housing. In 70s and husband has dementia. Imagine trying to cope living in car in that setting. Well, we have them in our winter shelter but it ends mid March. My attention span is getting short for all the outrage, just hop from one to another, but I know what party is behind it all.

  3. That is just brilliant!

  4. No one canvasses here. In Conservatopia, it doesn’t matter who the candidate is as long as the name has (R) after it.

  5. I’m in a helluva Blue neighborhood. Haven’t seen a political canvasser in ages. And Kary, great post on your front door! Keep on keeping on!

  6. We need canvassing. If they come to my door, I try to reinforce and encourage them to keep going, register voters, get out the vote. I can spare three minutes to do that.

  7. Opinionated Hussy says:

I certainly understand this for the national candidate canvassers, who are usually from out of town; but thank goodness folks don’t do that around here for our local Party, which canvasses to get out the vote, and for all our candidates down the ballot (who also door knock for everyone on the ballot)…folks like Vickie#7 make our day!

I DO need a version of this for our phone!

  8. The Surly Professor says:

I generally run off Republicans, Tea Partiers (yeah, that’s still a thing here in the sticks), Mormons, and Jehovah’s Witnesses. For Dems, I take the time to tell them which houses to not waste their time on. My block is about half and half red and blue.

Since the photo angle prevents OCR, here is the script typed in verbatim (unless I made a typo). For those who really do want to make a copy for themselves:

    No Political Canvassing, please.

If you are here on behalf of a Republican candidate – SHAME ON YOU. Please use your walking time to reflect on how your family failed to imart to you any sense of human decency, and call your mother tonight to apologize for having no soul.

If you are here on behalf of a Democratic (or even independent) candidate, thank you for your active participation. We are registered votes, we do our research and are well-informed, we definitely have our favorites, and we will certainly be voting in the primary. Also, remember to take deep breaths, because this town runs fairly red and will do its best to kill your faith in humanity. Good luck, thank you, and take care of yourself.

If you’re selling something, get off my lawn.
