Remember When People Did the Right Thing?

July 11, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

My Republican precinct chair – who lives nearly across the street from me – gave it up last night as I was taking out the garbage.  To begin with, he is not a pleasant man.  Every time a Democrat wins, he sneers at me the next day, “I hope you’re happy.”  Why yes, I am.  Thank you for noticing.

Last night he made a special trip outside.  He was wound up tighter than kite string.  “How can you claim Donald Jr knew he was meeting with Russians?  Plus, you guys are always looking for dirt on your opponents so how can you say this is wrong?”

Bless his heart. I have never seen a man who needed to be right all the damn time as much as this guy.  Oh wait, I have. That would be every other Republican male.

So I responded.  Remember back in 2000 when the Gore campaign received an anonymous “gift” of George W Bush’s debate prep notebook and a video of him during debate practice?  Without even reading past the first page, they called the FBI because they knew the material was stolen.  They knew that was the right thing to do.  They were honorable people.

He listened and then proudly responded, “Yeah, and Gore lost.”  You know he wanted to say nanny-nanny-boo-boo but I think he couldn’t remember the order of the nannies and the boos.

I smiled and said, “So conspiring with an enemy of America to win an election is okay?”  He rolled his garbage can right into the ditch.  “They did not conspire. They did not conspire. You cannot prove they conspired.”

Oh, I think that train’s already left the station and it’s headed 60 miles per hour right into the brick wall of justice.

Bless his heart, he’s really scared that I’m going to laugh at him when Trump goes down. Well, I will.

Be social and share!

I am headed for a meeting with a Russian agent who wants to give me damaging evidence against my Dad’s enemy clearly shows my intent to collude with a foreign nation. And then lie about it afterwards and then hire a Mob lawyer to defend me.

Jr be guilty of collusion. The intent was certainly there.

  2. I have a neighbor like that guy. When Comey brought up Hillary’s emails again just before the election, he couldn’t wait to ask me if I’d “heard the news.” Now, he won’t make eye contact.

    2
  3. JJ, you should go ahead and order up a yard sign, with just “LOL” on it. Have it ready to plant, once everything comes down.

    3
  4. Bless his little heart.
    The man is brain dead.
It is a horrible blow to one’s ego to know the man you voted for has a close relationship with Putin, who has been loaned millions of dollars by Russians and god knows who else. And every action, tweet and utterance is suspect.
    But the worst?
Knowing that this is the accepted norm now for government behavior UNLESS the Republicans put an end to it.
And that means that when the Democrats are in power, this behavior can be tolerated. Should not be, hopefully will not be, but can be tolerated.
    Because Republicans allowed it.

  5. And the Dems were smart enough to know (meaning they woke up that morning) that if they accepted the briefing book, the headlines would scream “Democrats steal Bush briefing book and films!!”
But the Trumps weren’t smart enough to know the Russians would do that.

  6. @Miz JJ

Ain’t gonna just be you laughing at your neighbor and all the other snacilbupeR when Drumpf goes down. The laughers will be in the millions.

    6
  7. Gore and his people were honorable and Trump and his people are not. Simple facts there. Also simple facts, often forgotten, are that we, the American people, cast more votes for Gore and for Hillary Clinton than for their opponents who got the job anyway for various reasons.

Our new Japanese-immigrant neighbor said that people all over the world are baffled by Trump being the US president. So are we, honey. Every time I hear “President Trump” I think I’m in some dystopic alternate reality.

    7
  8. Right neighborly of him to exchange pleasantries while taking out the trash, but doesn’t he scare the bazookas off the kids when he dresses in a white robe and hood while burning crosses on his front yard?

  9. Jane & PKM says:

Too soon to begin chanting “lock him up?”

Dimwit Jr. gave his confession on twitter in father-son fashion this morning. If his attorney did not know prior to that, there’s his confirmation that his client is an idiot.

Transparency?! No, Junior. That’s hubris, if you think you can lie your way out of this mess.

  10. e platypus onion says:

Later Monday, Trump Jr. announced he had hired Alan Futerfas as his lawyer. Futerfas is known for representing the Gambino, Genovese and Colombo crime families.”

LOL. Junior hired himself a MOB LAWYER!

    10
  11. I spose an ordinary fellow who graduates from a toney New York law school (Cardozo) could have gone on to a long and lucrative career in a white shoe NY firm, but Futerfas is far from an ordinary fellow. It’s true that he has represented the Five Families over the years, but he has also represented others with no know organized crime connection. Maybe a friend of a friend recommended him to Don Jr. Or vice versa.

    11
  12. The best way to get back at people like you sweet neighbor…when trump goes down just smile and say ‘Good morning” it will drive him crazy . Remember go high!

    12
  13. That Other Jean says:

Maymoon, when that happens, would it be too over the top to greet Republican neighbors by singing a chorus or two of
    “O What a Beautiful Morning”?

    13
  14. Maymoon says:

I see no problem with breaking into song.

    14
  15. RepubAnon says:

Maybe make a big poster of Jr’s admission, and post it where where your neighbor can see it?

    15
  16. @epo and Micr: Maybe Chris Christie recommended that lawyer…?

    16
  17. WaPo has a wonderful collection of Orange Whore/Putie cartoons. Enjoy!

  18. Well, there is bat**it crazy and bat**it stupid. Leave it to Trump, his nearest and dearest and even the R Congress critters plus his dyed in the wool supporters to have a mortal lock on both!

Can’t wait to see Mark Warner’s Senate Committee grill Jr, Kushner and Manaport separately. Thats what I used to do with my kids when they got themselves up to something they shouldn’t. It works like a charm!

  19. Robin Frazier says:

Be sure and point at him too while you laugh and tell him Robin said for you to do it.

  20. @maggie

Your comment reminds me of my sainted father’s fav Aggie joke, to wit,

Four Aggies on the Sunday eve before finals, road trip to La Grange. Late returning, they sleep through their first period Monday final. En mass they go to the professor asking for an accommodation because they were late returning Sunday “due to a flat tire”. After an additional question or two the professor agrees to giving them a final that very afternoon. Seated in four separate rooms, the Aggies are confronted with a one question final, “Which tire?”

    20
  21. e platypus onion says:

Good ‘un, Micr. Got my chuckles for the day.

Debbo, yer cartoons be hiding behind a pay wall.

    21
  22. two crows says:

I have to agree with Tweety on one point. I do love me some Jr’s “transparency.” You know — the transparency he showed right when the NY Times was all set to out him.

Meanwhile JJ, do you have a guestroom? When Tweety goes down, I want to hop a plane, come to Texas and stand in your front yard with you. And laugh. Can I do that? Pretty please?

    22
  23. “Yeah, and Gore lost.”

And when in 1980 George Effing Will showed up at Reagan’s HQ to prep the future, “Arms merchant to the mullahs” for his debate against Jimmy Carter, and saw A CARTER debate briefing book on the table did exactly….nothing. Nor did anyone in the room question whether what they were dong was ethical. Not. One.

Ethical lapses like this are, of course, not a flaw in their “Traditional Family Values” character – it’s a feature!
