Real Fear

September 11, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Oh, no.  Trump says the response in Puerto Rico to Hurricane Maria was “incredibly successfully.”  I heard it on the teevee using my own ears.

By the way, he also explained what an island is.  He said it was an island and you know that because you can’t drive on a highway there.

Y’all, 3,007 people died and Donald Trump threw paper towels at them, declaring himself the best paper towel thrower ever.

  1. Guess he has never been to Honolulu. They have an interstate there. Always thought it was weird but there it is. An island with an interstate.

    1
  2. A sidelight.
    Hawaii and Alaska have “interstates”.
Alaska got the Marine railway ( Ferry’s) designated as part of the interstate system so they could get some of that federal money espiacially before addled ronnie came in and pretty well killed the federal funds for the program.
Hawaii as part, I beleive might be wrong, of the same deal had shipping/air connections qualified for same reason.
Since Alaska and Hawaii came in at same time with parelell issues ( detached from lower 48/ the mainland) many special rules that apply to both. At one time, not sure if still, residents of either state were awarded resident rates for going to state schools/colleges in either state.
By the way the way Puerta Rico was treated have got us nervous about what assistence will be available for the state that voted for Hillary (even though Bernie swept the caucauses) by the greatest percentage.
California claims that honor but they are wrong. Close but wrong.

  3. Hey, them portarickans are just brown people that speak Spanish, so it’s not like they’re real Americans or even human, right? Anyway, if they died after the storm it’s their own fault. (sarcasm font enabled)

  4. To Rhea

That is exactly the thuglican attitude Hawaii is afraid of.

Add a generic “foriegn” languages (Hawaiian, Japanese, Tagalog, Korean, Chinese, and the list goes on) to Spanish and their perspective fits Hawaii to a tee.

  5. It’s Dump’s MO to whitewash his obvious failings and tout them as victories. He can do no wrong and he is better than every other president. The fact that so many people died due to his slow response (he is ultimately responsible for the failure of FEMA to be ready with a plan of attack) does not even register with this narcissist. He has filled important positions with people as incompetent as he is. No wonder they failed the people of Puerto Rico, just as he is failing America.
Precious human lives were lost and he is bragging about his victory. Worse than Dubya and Brownie!

  6. OK, did anyone really expect anything but this kind of garbage oozing out from Trump’s mouth? Noooo we didn’t, but his base will probably eat up every freakin’ word about how great the Trump Team response was — you know, unsung incredible success and all that crap.

If there’s anyone with a brain out there who is not voting blue all the way in November, get them some help NOW. We need Dems, lots of Dems, to at least try to slow this crazy train down. Just imagine what the next couple of years will be like if we don’t vote blue. The whole damn country will go under!

  7. “Heck of a job, Donnie”. Don’t worry P.R. doesn’t have a vote in the all important Electoral College.

    7
  8. A minor point, K, but as a 46 year resident of Alaska and a 20 year employee of the Alaska Marine Highway (aka the ferries), we never had a marine railway.

    8
  9. Trump declared that the government is “absolutely, totally prepared” to deal with the hurricane.

Translation: the government is totally prepared to blame it on Hillary’s emails.

  10. I stream Big Island News, a local station on the island of Hawaii, the Big Island. That’s where I kept up with the volcano that wouldn’t stop for 3 months, and now hurricanes.

One days they aired the current FEMA director’s visit. I kept thinking, don’t let him be “Heckuva job Brownie,” but this guy didn’t seem to be as much of a moron as the horse show i-dot.

It really seems to me that the county civil defense agencies are first rate. They were definitely on top of everything going on with Kileaua and the infamous Fissure 8.

  11. I fantasized that during the paper towel lobbing in PR, that someone in the crowd lobbed one back at him. Better would be the entire enraged crowd.

  12. AlanInAustin ... says:

I hope Atlantic coastal states are noticing that Trump calls 3,000 dead in Puerto Rico a “success”. Note that commemorative Presidential paper towels will be in short supply

    Mea Culpa you are right.
    I knew better.

    13
  14. Paul Staller says:

As a North Carolinian located here in the Piedmont just west of Durham, I read that and all I could think of was “I am so screwed”. Wonder if FEMA will remember to bring paper towels this time?

    14
  15. Anybody remotely in the path of Florence:
News now is that she could pull a Harvey, and and hang around and dump prodigious amounts of rain. Here’s the thing. It’s huge. No telling how far inland she’ll go before she stalls. If it stalls at at a certain point, it could hang around, drawing strength and moisture from the ocean, dumping it in inland. Please consider advice offered here and everywhere else if you’re considering riding it out because you feel you’re inland enough.

    15
  16. And on the political front, it turns out that Donnie’s douchebags did such a jam up job in Puerto Rico that they decided to move almost 10 billion dollars from FEMA, to ICE. Right before hurricane season.
You can’t make this s**t up folks.

    16
  17. I guess he’s never driven to Key West.

    17
  18. Sorry, sorry everyone. 10 million. Not billion.

    18
  19. Buttermilk Sky says:

Yeah, well, Pat Robertson has already prayed away the storm, but the ICEstapo still has to guard those Kiddie Koncentration Kamps. So what’s the problem?

  20. Robbing Martha to pay Mary continues. Yet more $$ has been grifted from FEMA! tRump has no reflection in a mirror!
