Raping Words

Okay, here’s the deal.  Grassley has delicately announced of the FBI report, “There’s nothing in it that we didn’t already know.”

What the hell is that?

Look, Grassley already knew that the guy is a liar, a drunk, assaults women, and vowed revenge on Democrats.  So if the FBI reports confirms all that … he knew it. Hell, I knew it. The National Council of Churches knew it.   About 1,700 law professors around the county knew it.

So, Republicans said they interviewed 9 people and none of them could corroborate Ford’s account of sexual assault.  Whoopsie damn doo.

He is unfit for a lifetime appointment. Period.  And carefully worded statements don’t fix that.

final proof, as if more were needed, that Grassley is unfit for the Senate

  2. i said it before the sexual assault allegations aside, the drinking aside.. this man does not have that Judicial temperament to be a Supreme Court Justice! We all heard his ranting !!!! I have a bad feeling about this.

  3. Kate Dungan says:

If that is the case, Grassley needs to release the report to the public instead of keeping it under wraps.

I have a feeling “doing the right thing” is going to have to wait until Bart O’Kavanaugh beats his wife in public. Of course, in that case, “the democrats made him do it.” makes a good defense.

  5. I’m looking forward to that Democratic investigation into Judge Krapenaugh after the midterm elections flip the Senate. Then he can go out in a blaze of infamy.

    Dammit. We’ve been had. Again.
    Not unexpected, but demoralizing nonetheless.

My one consolation is that I don’t think they’re going to get the 30+ years they’re expecting out of Kavanaugh. I figure either his liver will give out, or one of his fits of rage will trigger a massive stroke long before then.

True, Ginsberg and Breyer can’t serve much longer. But if we can win in 2020 and take back the Senate, they can be replaced with younger liberal, or at least centrist, judges. That only leave one more to gain the majority, as Thomas and Alito enter their 70’s. And though he’s a hardcore corporatist, I don’t think Roberts has much taste for culture war issues. So some of the more egregious cases may not be accepted.

At the state level, newly aware citizens are fighting back against voter suppression and gerrymandering. Increasing the chances that the government will more closely reflect the electorate, and breaking the right wing stranglehold on state houses.

It’s still pretty ugly for the near future. But I’m hopeful that the Court won’t truly be lost for a generation or more. Maybe some of us will even live to see it.

  7. Not at all surprised about the way the Kavanaugh “investigation” was done. It was always all about finding what the Reps wanted and ignoring the rest of the witnesses and evidence in order to give him a pass and provide cover to all the spineless Senators who fully intend to vote to confirm no matter what.

The only way to turn this mess around is with a massive blue wave in November. Vote, get your friends, family, & neighbors out to vote for Dems. Write for Postcards to Voters.org, campaign and canvass for good candidates, do what needs to be done to save what’s left of our democracy, decency, & values because we sure as heck can’t depend on our Republican “friends” to do it. It’s up to us, folks!

  8. Aggieland Liz says:

Dear me, Juanita, by your description he’s a garden-variety Republican. Just another one o’ the boys, right? So why in hell wouldn’t they confirm him?

  9. The next time I get pulled over for speeding I’ll try this:

“73 mph? That’s nothing we didn’t already know officer, so let’s both of us continue on our way. OK?”

  10. Old Quaker says:

Regardless of him being a perv, it’s Kav’s shameful work for the “Starr Chamber” (I just coined that) he wanted to hang Bill Clinton out to dry for sexual behavior, not high crimes and misdemeanors. He had a heavy hand in writing Starr’s nasty final report. That’s enff to vote NO. His conspiracy accusation about the Clintons is enuff to vote NO. His “what goes around comes around: threat is totally, stunningly over the top. NO NO NO.

  11. What’s keeping my blood pressure up at the ceiling is that Merrick Garland was refused even a hearing because it was less than a year to an election, and they had to let the American people have a voice in who appointed the next justice. Now the next election is weeks away, polls say that the American people don’t like Kavanaugh and are about to vote against his supporters, and yet the same GOP who refused to even look at Garland are jamming this drunken, ranting, half-raping frat boy onto the highest court in the country for the rest of his biased little life.

It almost makes me sorry I live in a state with strict gun laws. Those b******s are only about 12 miles from here….

  12. @Bonnie:

I hope this mess triggers huge numbers of female voters in November.

  13. Not only is tRump turning the Supreme Court into an arm of the Repugnant Party, he’s on his way to doing the same with the FBI.
