Putting John To Rest

September 01, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I watched some of the John McCain funeral today.

When George W looks classy, it’s time to admit that Trump is a pig.  President Obama got a few digs in but I doubt Trump understood them.

I heard that Trump was on the golf course today.  And he cheats at golf, but you’re not surprised to hear that, are you?

  1. We’re really bumping along the bottom when a eulogy praising the dearly departed’s better qualities is taken as an insult to his survivors.

    1
  2. the myth of mccain threatens to pervert future politics.
Just as the lie about “happy well cared for slaves” was used to defend slavery and that the organized murder by southern mobs during 1860 to 1865 was in protection of states rights and not slavery.
Don’t forget about the lies about southerns having to flock to the kkk to defend their women folk from non whites ( at least until daddy, brother billie bob, and uncle festus had their fun with them)
So will a war mongering incompetent pilot who stayed true to the family tradition of bigotry while opposing any benefits for any other then his select few as being honorable will pervert political discussion.
Waving the myth of mccain being honorable when, in fact he would support any war, any bigotry and any oppression espiacially if it offered him a chance to further line his pockets, will be used as an excuse for the basest of policies and foulest of actions.
Don’t forget his whipped cur devotion to the twit and continued political loyalty to demented donnie.
He had 2 honorable moments in a pampered life coddled by the government and protected by nepotism.
For 5 years he suffered but to aicheve 81 years of age with so little suffering is remarkably lucky. Speak to coal miners families watching people take 10 or 20 years of suffering from black lung, or people of color falsely imprisoned for not just years but decades or even true hero’s such as Hugh Clowers Thompson Jr. and his crew were osterized by the very military that exulted mccain.
These myths always come back to bite us and I am sure that when meghan proving here fealty to demented donnie by going around and attempting to bestow the blessing of her mythical father on the shysters, conmen, crooks and bigots running as thuglicans will prove that true.
After all if saint john, who even the d’s respected, would have endorsed arthur jones in Ill., or desantis in florida, or stewart in virginia and who is to question that nepotistic beneficary of such bilge.
Who knows if meghan plays her cards right she could get on a thuglican ticket somewhere and possibly continue family tradition of boot licking by running in support of one of the cheney spawn.

  3. John McCain leaves us with a contradictory legacy. I’ll leave it at that, and after his 5 years of purgatory in a Vietnamese cage, I hope he can now rest in peace.

Still, I would have liked to watch Trump deliver one of the eulogies, because it’s almost guaranteed he’d go off script, especially if Bush & Obama went first, and he wouldn’t be able to help himself, he couldn’t stop from saying HE won the presidency, and HE outlived the deceased. So… there, still winning.

  4. If Trump weren’t so hated and distrusted, McCain’s passing wouldn’t be such a big deal. It would have been much lowered keyed. he is being measured by who his enemies are as much as by who his friends are. Nobody fitting him for wings and a halo.

  5. Comparison of coverage of Mccains funeral after he spent his entire life wallowing in the government trough versus the smear job done on Wellstones funeral is worth noting.

Watching the news excerpts from the two funerals yesterday I was intrigued by the contrasts. McCains was a rigid military one with not a hair out of place. Lots of pomp and circumstance. Quiet and dignified and wonderful remembrances of a human being.

Aretha’s was a joyful noise unto the Lord. 130 pink Cadillacs, and a gold casket. Not to mention she changed her clothes 3 or 4 times. It was spectacular. The music alone was breathtaking.

I was left thinking only in America could 2 such prominent people have such different funerals on the same day. And that is what makes America great.

    Dear Miss Juanita,

Even Sarah Palin showed more class at McCain’s death than the President did. What a sad country we live in.

  8. Making W follow Obama did no favors to W.

  9. K:
I’ve liked quiet a bit of the things you’ve posted in the past. But your latest posts about John McCain have got me wondering if they wouldn’t sound better in the original Russian. (With total credit to Molly Ivins.)

    9
  10. PP, I’ll agree that K’s words are harsh, but that doesn’t change McCain’s voting record. He had a lot of qualities that made him likable, but then, so does Shrub–which didn’t make him do good things. If I had to be stuck in a room with a Republican, better John McCain than most. But if I have to choose a person to represent me in Congress, better not him than any given Democrat.

Palin wasn’t invited to attend McCain’s funeral!

  12. Re President Obama, someone on twitter mentioned that he made some pointed remarks at John Kelly. I replayed the following section and noticed he did pause and look in a particular direction when he said the parts of the following comments enclosed by *’s:

“John understood… that part of what makes our country great is that our membership is based not on our blood line… not based on where our parents or grandparents came from, *nor how recently they arrived*, but on adherence to a common creed, *that all of us are created equal*.”

Whether or not it was John Kelly he was addressing it’s hard to tell from the camera angle, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised.

  13. I’m still wondering why princess Ivanka and her mate were invited.

  14. John McCain certainly was not a liberal/progressive model of a great politician. He was a conservative. BUT he knew one thing – how to compromise. He was good at working across the aisle – as shown greatly by those of both parties who spoke/attended the funeral.

The orange slug enhanced the image of McCain by his derogatory remarks. He should have just kept that ugly mouth closed, but we all know that is a total impossibility for this petulant three-year-old.

I held Bush Jr is such disdain when he was in office, but the thing that is now polluting the WH and out total government makes him a shining star and certainly removed Bush from the bottom in ranking as a “good president.” In fact, the orange slug pushed Bush WAY above the bottom.

Perhaps the adulation that came to McCain is because we looked at a man who did serve his country – not spend time avoiding STDs as the slug was so proud of proclaiming, and was able to make long lasting friends with both “sides” of the political spectrum – all without criminal rumblings.

Our country is in sad, sad shape. I only hope we can recover from this disaster.

Myrna, the answer isn’t pretty. http://thehill.com/homenews/administration/404725-graham-invited-ivanka-trump-to-mccains-funeral-report

Other questions would be: “who crashes a funeral?” or “what kind of ‘friend’ invites the unwanted to a best friend’s funeral?”

Dotard45 didn’t ‘drain the swamp’ as promised. Instead he landfilled it with kompromat. Summer reading for next summer: “Who Owns Lindsey and Why”

  16. 1) Finlly glad to see some one tie mccains funeral treatment to the smear job they did on Wellstones memorial. https://digbysblog.blogspot.com/ or maybe she is russian as well.
    2) As well as some one else emphsizing how the mccain “elites” created demented donnie. https://www.rawstory.com/2018/09/new-republic-writer-scorches-pro-mccain-elites-paved-way-trumps-bigotry-gops-southern-strategy/ They are obviously russians. How dare one challenge mccains sainthood no matter the facts.
    2) Please if you disagree with my statements address the statements. ad hominen ( is that right?) attacks on me is below the level of discourse I expect from this site. In reality just to put p.p.’s mind at rest I am an 2/3 generation ( depending on mothers v. fathers side of family) US citizen of polish heritage.
It is foul I felt the need for that.

    16
  17. k:
If you took my comment as some kind of ethnic slur, I apologize, as I can assure you that was not my intent.
I have absolutely no enmity towards Russian people, of any race, religion, or any other factor. Nor any other nationality. And I promise you that your citizenship status means nothing to me, as it has no bearing on any conversation as far as I’m concerned.
My comment was intended as a snarky comparison of your comments about the Senator with negative social media campaigns against liberals.
And it just so happens that the ones we’re hearing about the most are from Russian intelligence organizations trying to bring down our government. It coulda been Ecuadorians. But they’re not in the news.
So now, why you, and not anyone else with negative comments about the Senator?
    Persistence.
I didn’t say a word about anyone’s negative comments under El Jefe’s post a couple of days ago. Just like you said, that would’ve been below the level of discourse. For any site. This joint is an open forum.
But it’s 2 or 3 days later, and still the condemnation of the dead guy.
You mentioned response to you statements.
Ok, just a couple for brevity.
Being the son, and grandson of admirals of renown, and a former POW, I feel purty certain that the Senator could have secured several corporate jobs that would’ve compensated him massively more than his government salaries. Say for example McDonnell Douglas. Or any defense contractor. Millions.
But no, he still chose the path of service. Even when he had to get someone else (including Hillary) to comb his hair because he couldn’t lift his arms high enough to do it himself because of POW injuries.
So the “foul piece of human waste that placed self and wealth above everything else, and wallowed in the government trough”
comments are free speech in this joint.
And some others here have echoed your sentiment.
But most seem to echo it once. Free speech. Got it. Give it a f**king rest.
Palin was the gateway racism drug to Donnie Douchebag.
It doesn’t negate a lifetime of service by McCain.

    17
  18. To P.P.
I took your comment as an attempt to dismiss my comments as a Russian troll. What with the publicity of campaign interference etc when Russian was mentioned first place my mind went. As you said that was not your intent I accept that and regret I was mistaken.
No McCain didn’t,t take a corporate job he just dumped his first wife and married a younger richer model. What with his wife’s money and the government welfare system paying him off just as it had done his entire life funds were unimportant what was important was ego satisfaction, being able to “protect and help” his friends while still being in a position of rank to justify his desire of deference from those lesser folk.
Ask those who have been unjustly jailed where he supported the laws and personnel, sherif joe, who put them there whether his suffering resulting from his unbridled use of nepotism, incompetence and drive for the benefits of rank balance out the evil he enabled.
War was his constant mantra and spilled innocent blood was his legacy.
