Peace Accords? Of Course Not…

September 17, 2020 By: El Jefe Category: Trump

In a very Trumpian show of Trump’s Trumpiness, Trump held a ceremony at the White House this week hailing himself as Great Peacemaker in his quest for the “deal of the century” claiming to achieve Middle East peace.  This whole charade is really just being held to whip up outrage in his base when he again doesn’t get the “Noble” Peace Prize he wants so badly, but knows he’ll never receive.  The whole thing is really just an arms deal, not a peace deal.  To sign with Israel, the UAE is receiving fighter jets and drones.  Bahrain is getting new missile defense systems.  Israel, already the recipient of billions in war toys, has a new shopping list that includes Osprey tilt rotor helicopters, and other war machines.

The real problem with this “peace” accord?  It leaves out the Palestinians.  Israel is not at war with the EAE or Bahrain.  They’re at war with the Palestinians, and have been for over 70 years.  Not one concession was made in these “accords” that help the Palestinians.  Like all other things Trump, this deal is 100% showmanship, 0% substance.  Trump is using US tax money AND kicking off a new arms race with his new “peace” accords.  This “peace” is just pouring gasoline on the fire.

    Trump just needed something to excite his evangelical voters. Nothing to see here.

  3. Good luck with trying to peddle reality among the ‘faithful,’ El Jefe. They’re too busy buying all the soap being sold by the f cking moron. Although “Peace without the Palestinians” is exactly what the Zionists have been advocating since dropping the imaginary state of “Israel” into the desert to relieve Europe of their Jewish ‘problem.’

    As a Jew by birthright, not religion, it’s more than a little ironic when the Zionists label me as “anti-Semitic” because I don’t support the land grabs for the rapture. Interesting marriage of political convenience between the groups of Americans and Israelis who vote against their own self interests. Both groups are willing patsies for spending 90% of their GDP on wars they cannot win in a “common cause” that is diametrically opposed to the benefit of either group.

    Has anyone seen the painting Guernica? Those Palestinians should be really worried.

    I don’t disagree with anything in your post but will add that this was done by autocrats against the will of their people.

    I would further add that nobody can stand the Palestinians, the Arabs even less so than the Israelis. The Arab leaders dare not say so out loud but none of them have forgotten how the Palestinians tried to overthrow the governmets of Jordan and Lebanon.

  6. Well, one thing to consider. Precedent.
    F**king trump has set the precedent that every incoming American president decides for him or herself which international agreements they’ll uphold. Or shitcan.
    Might as well flip a coin. So as long as uncle Joe gets elected, he’s totally free to stop the arms sales. And then Tucker Carlson can start the impeachment process on the grounds of killing the peace process in the middle-east.

    Add in the strong possibility that the Israel/UAE deal was in the works for years and had little to do with the United States of Trump, Pompeo and Kushner.

    Consider the downsides of being seen as interfering in the Sunni/Shia rifts. It antagonizes Turkey, driving another wedge and shoving them a bit closer to Russia, a bit further away from NATO.

    And of course, after the initial announcement, one expert pointed out that the US, Israel and the UAE were each signing something, but there was no certainty the three had the same terms, especially as it dealt with sovereignty over the West Bank (esp. Israel’s potential annexation of it).

  9. OT WX FYI: Houston et al.
    Y’all on the Gulf Coast pay attention. That ‘invest/area of tropical interest’ I mentioned recently down in the SW GOM/Bay of Campeche is cooking off.
    It has a 90% chance of becoming a Tropical Depression or Storm by this afternoon, and moving N or NE towards the Texas and/or Louisiana coasts.
    That sucker is only about 5-600 miles from me or Galveston right now. The weather pattern has already changed to reflect that ‘tropical feel’ to it [windshift, cloud patterns, humidity, baro, etc].

    “1. Thunderstorm activity has continued to increase and become better organized this morning in association with a well-defined low pressure system located over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico.
    Upper-level winds are gradually becoming more conducive for development and, if this recent development trend continues, a tropical depression or a tropical storm could form later today.
    The low is expected to meander over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico for the next day or so before moving slowly northward to northeastward on Friday and Saturday. An Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate the disturbance this afternoon.
    * Formation chance through 48 hours…high…90 percent.
    * Formation chance through 5 days…high…90 percent.”
