Well, This is Kinda Fun

The special election for a Republican nomination for a US senate seat in Aladamnbama is scheduled for September 26 – that’s next Tuesday.

The Democratic nominee is Doug Jones, who won the primary outright by more than 50% of the vote, even with 6 opponents.  Jones was endorsed by Joe Biden.

The Republicans are having a goat rodeo.  Roy Moore, who is a real special kind of wacko, is still leading in the polls 54 – 46%.  Moore is endorsed by Sarah Palin, who is still fighting Hillary Clinton, Kid Rock, and host of dead people, including Phylis Schlafly.

His opponent, Luther Strange, is less crazy but that’s not hard to do compared to Moore.  He is endorsed by Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell.

So, I mean, it’s really hard to pick a favorite.

So, if Mitch’s pick loses this race and Mitch loses the goofball healthcare vote, he might as well go home.  I would love to see that. I know you would, too.

We’ll be here Tuesday with chuckles and grins.

Here Ya Go

Definition DOTARD: condiment you put on covfefe. The Capitol of Nambia.

Look at it this way – North Korea did more with one word to advance American education than Betsy DeVoss has done all year.

Here’s What I Don’t Get

September 22, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

Texas Republican Congressvarmint Jeb Hensarling is a very rich man, so he’s sort of clueless when it comes to life in general.

What, Me Worry Hensarling

That’s why he’s baffled by people who don’t just up and move when their house floods.

Some homeowners with property near flood-prone areas should make their homes more resilient or relocate out of the flood zone, Hensarling suggested.

“At some point, God is telling you to move,” Hensarling added in an interview on “Squawk Box.”

Okay, so I’m wondering this: if you say stoopid stuff over and over again and people point and laugh at you, at some point isn’t God telling you to shuddup?

There are families in my county who have lived on their property for 35 years and never flooded.  However, they have flooded twice in the past two years.  Their homes are basically worthless on the free market, you know – the free market Jeb loves.  These are people of modest means and their $100,000 house is all they have.

They are flooding because of over-development allowed, hell, even encouraged, by a Republican dominated county commissioner’s court. Maybe Jeb can help them “relocate” to a nice little spot under the freeway.

Jeb, you’re already taking away their healthcare.  You want their houses, too?

Thanks to Jann for the heads up.

Lindsey Care?

Okay, this just astounds me.

They know how awful this bill is.  They know it would kill people.  They just don’t care.

Thanks to Bryan for the heads up.

There’s Always a Price to Pay (See What I Did There?)

September 21, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price has champagne taste on a taxpayer’s budget.

He likes those private jets.

You will remember Price as the guy who made stock trades in health-care companies while serving on a House panel overseeing Obamacare and other health issues.

He has also positioned himself as a champion of fiscal efficiency, backing major spending reductions to agencies he oversees and legislation that would cull hundreds of billions of dollars from health entitlement programs.

Price spent $60,000 of your money on private jets in a two day period.  All other cabinet secretaries travel commercial.

The only explanation Price has?  “I’m a very busy man.”  Well hell, child, so am I, but I don’t call a limo to drive me to the damn grocery store and then send you the bill.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

And You Thought I’d Never Say “Thank you, Chuck Grassley.”

September 21, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

Senator Chuck Grassley ain’t well-known for his intellect.  I thought I would possibly be the last person on earth to celebrate that.

But, things have gotten weird.  Really weird.

Grassley supports the Graham-Cassidy bill and, bless his heart, took to the airwaves to explain why.

“You know, I could maybe give you 10 reasons why this bill shouldn’t be considered,” Grassley said. “But Republicans campaigned on this so often that you have a responsibility to carry out what you said in the campaign. That’s pretty much as much of a reason as the substance of the bill.”

In normal times, you’d think that being totally political would be one of the reasons NOT to support the bill.  But, these are weird times.

It appears that removing the word “Obamacare” far outweighs putting 10 million people off healthcare.

Grassley does not stop with the admission the Republican plan is solely a political move and heath care be damned. Oh no, he also explains why state boundaries were originally set for health care reasons.

Allowing states to shape health care benefits and regulations to match their populations will better account for the geographic and economic diversity of the country.

“What might fit Massachusetts and New York and Maryland doesn’t fit Iowa very well,” Grassley said.

You know, because somebody living in Georgia ain’t at all like somebody living in Alabama.  Hell, they don’t even root for the same college football teams so how the dickens do you expect them to have the same health care needs?  Little known fact: cancer does not kill you in Nebraska. I mean, you have to call into work sick for a couple of days, drink some apple cider vinegar, and you’re new and fit by Friday. However, hangnails will land your butt in intensive care in South Dakota.

I have an idea.  Let’s repeal the word “Obamacare” and replace it with the words “Affordable Care Act.”  Don’t change anything else – just that.  Everybody happy now?

Thanks to everybody for the heads up!
