Oh Good Lord, Sid Miller

October 10, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

Sid Miller is the Texas Agriculture Commissioner, which is a far more important job than it sounds.  That’s unfortunate because Ole Sid is about 50 acres short of a cornfield.  Click right here to see all the articles I’ve written about him.

Ole Sid would have to study up to be an imbecile.

He’s a mess o’ racism, and he advertises himself as “Donald Trump’s Man in Texas.” He recognizes that even most of his fellow statewide elected Republican officials don’t support him, so his big effort now is is to rally the base. A Klan meeting would be too obvious, so Ole Sid is going with re-fighting the Civil War.

In 2011 he tried to get one passed that included the confederate battle flag, but even Texas was against that. So, they replaced it with the confederate Texas regiment’s flag.

Look, in my mind, both of those flag should be the final confederate flags – white ones.

Election time is not pretty in Texas.  Some damn fool is gonna drag out some damn losers’ flag.

Thanks to Steve for the heads up.

Beto O’Rourke and Jesus

October 10, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

A small miracle has happened in Texas.  It just might be that evangelical women are awaking from a self-induced coma over abortion.

Beto O’Rourke may have touched their hearts.  The New York Times interviewed a small group of these women who were willing to to go public.

The women, who are all in their 30s, described Mr. O’Rourke as providing a stark moral contrast to Mr. Trump, whose policies and behavior they see as fundamentally anti-Christian, especially separating immigrant children from their parents at the border, banning many Muslim refugees and disrespecting women.

“I care as much about babies at the border as I do about babies in the womb,” said Tess Clarke, one of Ms. Mooney’s friends, confessing that she was “mortified” at how she used to vote, because she had only considered abortion policy. “We’ve been asleep. Now, we’ve woke up.”

Stunning, right?  And then one of the women reported …

When an older white evangelical man recently told her that she couldn’t be a Christian and vote for Mr. O’Rourke, Ms. Clarke was outraged.

“I keep going back to who Jesus was when he walked on earth,” she said. “This is about proximity to people in pain.”

So maybe, just maybe, some evangelical women have truly found Jesus.

The Trump Takeover is Complete

October 09, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

When the biggest thing in the news is the Taylor Swift / Kayne West spat over Trump, Trump wins.

Say what you will about Barack Obama, even if he wasn’t born here, he never encouraged celebrity trash spats.

Remember when there were political spats between William F Buckley and Gore Vidal?  Those were the days.

He Lives to Lie UPDATED / UPDATED THE UPDATE

October 09, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself

Okay, so out of the clear blue, Nikki Haley resigns her position as UN Ambassador.

Everybody was pretty surprised.  Except Trump.  He remarked that she let him know of her intentions six months ago.

Now see, nobody believes that, but Trump was low on his lie quotient for the day so he thought he’d start off with a boost.

The pundits suggest that Haley is going to seek higher office – maybe even run for president herself.  Is that what we need?   A woman who sat there sweetly while Trump made totally insane speeches to the UN?

The short answer is no.  The long answer is oh hell no.

UPDATED:

Interestingly, it now comes to light that Nikki Haley resigned one day after CREW requested a State Department investigation into Haley and her husband using private jets for seven different flights.

“By accepting gifts of luxury private flights, Ambassador Haley seems to be falling in line with other Trump administration officials who are reaping personal benefits from their public positions,” CREW Executive Director Noah Bookbinder said in a Monday statement.

Lay down with dogs, get up with fleas.

UPDATED ON TOP OF UPDATE

It appears that Haley is likely up to a million dollars in debt, and her parents are, too.  I didn’t know that she had financial issues in her past, but apparently it’s been a bit of a constant state with her.  In her resignation, she says she’s going into the business world. With her past record, I don’t think that’s a good idea.

I’mm pretty sure there’s more coming.
