During Trump’s silly visit to his wall south of San Diego last week (the one where he tried to reveal secret sensing built into the wall), he made the remarkable claim that 20 world class mountain climbers tried and couldn’t climb it.  The claim was bullshit, of course, like the virtually all of his claims.  The press immediately tried to confirm Trump’s claim by…wait for it…talking to world class climbers.  Said climbers said they had no knowledge of any climbers participating in any test of Trump’s wall, and even added that would help even if asked.  They also gave the parting shot that the wall could be easily scaled.

LOL.

George Conway teamed up with Neal Katyal yesterday to opine on Trump’s latest outrage of holding up aid to Ukraine as inducement to dig dirt on Joe Biden.  Katyal was solicitor general in the Obama administration.  It’s become obvious now that the whistleblower case that Bill Barr is covering up is a blatant incident of Trump violating the Constitution and US law to induce a foreign power to assist him in defeating a domestic political opponent.  Another weekend must-read, this one is powerful.

In the NYTimes Opinion section, political scientists Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt explain the GOP scorched earth strategy and how it’s destroying our democratic system.  Good read for a Saturday morning.

I rarely work on Fridays, and I still have 20 boxes to unload and a major haul to make at Costco.  But, I cannot leave you guys nowhere to holler when this crap is happening.

I feel like Charlie Brown with Lucy’s football.  Every time I believe that Trump is finally gonna get kicked out of office, another hole is punched in the Constitution and he stays.  Hell, I thought it was over when he mimicked a handicapped man. That seems almost charming now.

Extorting a foreign country to get dirt on a political opponent may do it.  Probably not because if they dump Trump, they also have to dump Mike Pence, who apparently also made a trip to Ukraine to help this project along. You know who that leaves.

Y’all, this is sad.  The world is going to hell in a hand basket.

It seems that an Amish horse and buggy were stopped by police in Ohio at 1:00 am on Sunday.

It was pretty much your regular horse and buggy, except for the fact that it had a stereo system blasting loudly and “a 12-pack of Michelob Ultra that was settled atop the buggy.” In other words, it was souped up and pimped out.

As soon as the cops stopped the buggy, the men on board took off running through the nearby trees.

While the men ran into the trees, the horse continued down the road, police said. The horse and buggy were eventually caught. The buggy was towed while the horse was turned over to someone who can take care of it until the owners come forward.

It apparently was not an Amish delivery service because several empty beer cans were found in the buggy.

We live in troubling times.
