Orange Foolius

January 14, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

It is a sad day indeed when our alleged president-elect shows far more respect to Putin than he does to Congressman John Lewis, the conscious of the congress.

Yesterday, John Lewis said that he did not consider Donald Trump to be a legitimate president.  You know, the same thing Donald Trump said about Barack Obama for eight years.

In the wee hours of this morning, Trump responded …

He’s gonna burn in hell, y’all.  A gold star mom and dad, Meryl Streep, and now John Lewis on the weekend of Martin Luther King Day….

Look, even if you think he’s a legitimate president, you have to admit that’s he’s a sumbitch.

Thanks to Bubba for the heads up, by slamming his coffee mug on the table so hard this morning that there’s coffee splatter on the ceiling.

Be social and share!

  1. That Other Jean says:

President-Elect Donald J. Trump (ptui!) should have half the integrity (not to mention half the intelligence) of John Lewis. Until he does, he needs to shut up and listen to him. Not that that’s going to happen.

    1
  2. In politics “legitimate” is in the eyes of the beholder. It’s meaningless.

What counts is “winner.” The Repubs are much better at that than the Dems. Yes, they cheat and spread misinformation. They use hate and fear as issues. They will continue to do so as long as it works.

The Dems need to figure out an effective way to fight back. Facts and reason don’t work. Appealing to emotions is what works. For example, when (and why) did the Dems stop being the unbending protectors of SS and Medicare? What the Repubs plan to do to those is scary and we hardly hear a peep from the Dems.

    2
  3. That Other Jean says:

Unfortunately, today’s Democrats have confused “taking the high road” with being polite to the opposition. You don’t have to cheat and lie, but sometimes you need to call a spade a spade, shout from the rooftops, and argue–loudly–your case to the voters. We haven’t done that, and we need to, NOW.

    3
  4. When Republicans scream about something, it’s usually an indication that they think it could be effective against them. Notice how they complain loudly if Democrats treat them the same way Republicans treat Democrats?

    4
  5. It is not enough that he is going to burn in hell, he needs to get his punishment here on earth. We should get to watch.

    5
  6. I can see why Trump won’t have the time to read the President’s Daily Briefing (except once a week).
He’s too busy scouring the Internet for negative commentary about himself, to have any time left over for national and world events.

But don’t worry, we’ll be in good (if tiny) hands, once a week, maybe.

    6
  7. At least some Dems, and I hope most of them, don’t have the stomach for getting down in the muck and rolling around in crazy the way the snacilbupeR do. Unfortunately that’s an electoral handicap these days.

Dems also seem to have the problem that a lot of women have when negotiating: compromising in advance. If we want 20 and the other side wants to give us 5, we’re likely to start off by saying we want 15. But the other side doesn’t do the same thing and offer 10; they stick with 5 and we end up with 10 (if we’re lucky) instead of 12.5.

JJ, I think you mean that John Lewis is the conscience of the Congress, unless you mean he’s the only one awake, and maybe you did.

  9. I’m with Lynn N. The only communication i get from Democrats is asking for money.

I needed to know the election judge in the precinct so the Harris county Republican party was the place to go. Had to sign up. They send information about something all the time. Almost daily. A friend gets their national daily talking points every day. Same thing that goes out to all of them, from Senators on down to precinct chair. They know how to keep their people motivated. That’s how we got PEOTUS Pussygrabber. All the Democratic leadership can do is roll over and play dead.

Thanks G-d for John Lewis. His work is cut out for him, again.

    9
  10. Rhea, I agree with you. And being nice and civilized and rational is a worthy goal.

The problem is that living up to those ideals lets the other side win, which I think is a greater evil than getting down in the muck would be. (Trump is proof ot that.) Dems need to learn to fight loud and to fight dirty when the other side is doing it.

One consolation is that Dems can scare the hell out of voters over real things like the destruction of SS and of the environment. We don’t need to create human scapegoats. Fear of the Trump Recession (from cutting social spending) and Another Republican War (because bullies love war) would be a good start.

  11. John Lewis in an honest to god HERO. I am so glad to have him saying exactly what most of us think. Trump will never be a legitimate president after colluding with the Russians and the FBI (a la Guiliani) He is a traitor and so is Rudy and as well as Comey. Democrats do have to be more aggressive, but traitors?
    Never!

  12. daChipster says:

Rep. Lewis served his country and advanced human rights everywhere by having his head bashed in and going to jail.

I suggest Dat Guy do the same.

Ms. Juanita Jean Herownself, if there is a hell, Donnie is not deserving of burning there. At least not until the ladies of the WMDBS have had an opportunity to administer justice to Donnie. And please, allow Mama to administer the soap to Donnie for the audacity to use his mouth or twitter fingers to mention hero and Representative John Lewis.

So, do you shave his head or not? Remember, as tempting as it might be to shave his head, Lucifer might like Donnie better that way. Really. Even the devil is likely to reject that beyond description of any known dead animal he calls hair.

Billionaire? Can’t afford a decent head piece or a pair of pants at least faking a waist line. Let’s see his tax returns!

SMDH First Donnie attacks POWs and specifically Senator John McCain. Now this unpresidented attack on Representative John Lewis. And Donnie is still breathing. Unbelievable.

  16. OldMayfly says:

John Lewis is my congress-person. And I am so proud to say that.

    16
  17. Karen Byrd says:

Trump always takes the bait. He is psychologically unable to do otherwise. John Lewis played him beautifully. He knew Trump would attack him and to do so the weekend before Martin Luther King Day is a massive blunder.

  18. JAKvirginia says:

    Not. A. President.

Putting a tiara on his head, a sash across his chest, with a big bunch of roses still will not make him Miss America. He’ll get the title and whatever power he can get away with but he’ll never be A President.

For the future? We need to follow the lead of the entertainment industry. Just. Say. No. That’s the simple and easy way they’re using to make Friday one of the least celebratory inaugurals in modern history. Y’see, he needs all of us. We don’t need him. America is bigger than any one person regardless of the position they have.

We can do this. We can teach Donnie one simple lesson: America is great. And we won’t allow you to screw it up.

  21. Opinionated Hussy says:

I know John Lewis personally, and love him dearly.

Deb is correct – if you are on the other side of an argument with John Lewis, you are on the Wrong Side of History.

    21
  22. I personally know of Republicans who financially support John Lewis in his campaigns, they respect him that much. Now take, that, CHEETO JESUS, and stuff it!

    22
  23. Funny thing is he made an even bigly-er fool of himself by assuming John Lewis district is an inner city ghetto.

    23
  24. Tilphousia says:

Traitor trump will NEVER be in any way a president. He is a foul, evil, liar. He is not worthy to clean the soles of John Lewis’ shoes. I wonder if traitor trump is on drugs as his actions suggest. His treatment of John Lewis is too abysmal for words. But Lady Karma and her BFF Queen Nemesis have a way of turning things back on traitor trump. Guess he didn’t think his love affair with Putin would hound him. Or that highly placed intelligence officials would warn allies not to tell him anything they didn’t want the Russians to know. Traitor trump will feel very isolated when he comes into a room and is greeted with silence. He can’t be the real president. Ever. Too many know he stole the election and he is not trusted ANYWHERE. He needs to just go back to the noxious dump from whence he crawled.

Re: assuming John Lewis’ district is a crime ridden slum was bigoted and stoopid. Two top level universities for openers. Universities have libraries, libraries have books. Books? Orange-man’s tiny fingers can’t turn the pages of a book. Poor Orangy, condemed to a life of ignorance.

  27. If splashing a bit of coffee on the ceiling is what it takes to keep Bubba’s blood pressure in check, so be it. We are going to need dedicated folks like Bubba and Juanita Jean for the next few years or decades. (send me an e-mail if you need help painting the kitchen)
Once the race-baiting misogynistic deadbeat takes the oath of office he will become the legitimate president. He is due the same respect that he has offered his predecessor the first 93 months that administration.
The first president of the Republic of Viet-Nam Ngo Dinh Diem in August of ’56 issued ordinance #57 making it illegal to assist any communist organization under penalty of death. He defined a communist as “all persons or groups that resorted to clandestine political activity, OR armed opposition to HIS government”. Political meeting of more than 5 people were banned except for the Can Lao party with his brother Nhu Secretary Gen. The Can Lo party developed a cult of personality centered on the Leader.
Diem appointed unqualified people to high office in his administration based on personal loyalty. His chief advisers where members of his immediate family. He elevated one one minority religion of others.
A foreign nation provided both financial and political support with an expectation of some conformity by Diem.
Diem exercised almost autocratic power for eight years and a day.
Coincidentally Diem and his brother Nhu passed away from traumatic lead poisoning on the same day Nov. 2, 1963. Viet-Nam suffered quite a bit of instability in the aftermath.
We can remain a free people by clinking strongly our constitutional rights and traditions. This will require the services of a body of competent attorneys.
Bubba take care of yourself. We can little afford to have you stroke out.

  29. two crows says:

    Sorry, LynnN:
We’re gonna need to agree to disagree on your point about Dems not knowing how to win.

When the Democratic presidential candidates at the start of the past THREE administrations ALL won the popular votes [2 of them (including this one) by substantial margins] . . .

And when more Democrats of the majority of “Republican” state legislatures actually received more of the votes but those D districts were so huge and the Democrats were so solidly packed within them while the Republican districts were small [so there were more of them] all designed in such a way as to award more R seats . . .

I don’t believe that Democrats don’t know how to win except when it comes to creating a crooked system.

Fortunately, President Obama has promised to step up and help us straighten out the system the Republicans criminalized. And I think he learned his lesson, over the past 8 years, about not compromising with the devil — so he might even succeed.

Now, hopefully, the franchise will survive the next 4 years so it will do some good.

  30. WA Skeptic says:

@#28–I certainly hope so, but our history sadly doesn’t reflect reasoned discourse. (Civil War, Trail of Tears, Jim Crow, etc.)

Just remember: if Trump bites the dust, Pence takes over, and I’m willing to bet he will have even less sympathy with the less fortunate than his predecessor would have had.

Much as it goes against the grain with me, I’ll be praying for the good health of DJT. That doesn’t mean allowing him to dump all over the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

It’s up to all of us to keep him honest.

    30
  31. With Pence at least we won’t be living under threat of nuclear war. Yes, he’s vile AND competent and will need a LOT of opposition but we’ll be able to do that because we haven’t been nuked out of existence.

    31
  32. L'Angelomisterioso says:

@Amy#31- I’d feel some better if Pence( who while Governor of Indiana had not been parodied by his constituents as Governor Dense).I have a suspicion that Dense is even less smart than the mango-colored mess based on tRUMPf’s reputation of not picking anyone smarter than himself to be in regular close contact with him. The major difference is nuclear war under tRUMPf would be unintentional whereas with Dense it might be intentional and a matter of policy. Neither of which would matter to the dead. My experience tells me dead is dead.
