Oh Clarence, Oh My

April 06, 2023 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

ProPublica report revealed today that Justice Clarence Thomas has accepted fancy trips from Republican big donor Harlan Crow for twenty years but not disclosed them as required by freekin’ law. One such trip had a value of half a million dollars.

On the other hand, he took Ginni with him, which by all reckoning made the trip practically worthless.

Clarence like to talk small and live big.  Get a load of this crapola.

“I don’t have any problem with going to Europe, but I prefer the United States, and I prefer seeing the regular parts of the United States,” Thomas said in a recent interview for a documentary about his life, which Crow helped finance.

“I prefer the RV parks. I prefer the Walmart parking lots to the beaches and things like that. There’s something normal to me about it,” Thomas said. “I come from regular stock, and I prefer that — I prefer being around that.”

Pro Publica outlines the extravagant travels on private jets and super yachts that Harlan Crow has gifted the Thomases. None of them include an RV or a damn WalMart parking lot.

Ya know, if Justice Elena Kagan had done this, the rightwing would be flying her bra over Riker’s Island within hours.

By the way, Crow says all this means nothing because he never asked Thomas for any favors. Holy crap, dude, you practically fund the Federalist Society.  You think you need a wish list?

One other thing. I read in one of these articles that Crow had tasteful nice golf shirts made up commemorating each of these trips. I guess Thomas ran out of places for the branding iron.

  1. This has got to be the breaking point! I bet there is a lot more just like this from other sources.

Trumpugnanticans will be just fine with this documented corruption of the now most corrupt supreme and his lady (who’s already been shown to be corrupt) in the past how many years. No conflicts or there there there! However, they’re going to freak out that the judge in TFFG’s 34 count felony fraud case made $35 in campaign donations to democrats in 2020. Let me repeat- $35. Ya think other far right trump judges including the current supremes made any political donations?

  3. SO what steps need to be taken, and by whom, to begin impeachment proceedings against this terrible excuse for a judge? He has broken the law not defended it.

  4. Jane & PKM says:

Gobsmacked. I tell you gobsmacked to hear Uncle Clarrie is another corrupt conservative. Find one conservative with integrity. I dare you to take that challenge. Lordy. Seriously. The party of law and order/family values? rofl Think about it. Liz Cheney is the ‘reasonable’ one of late.

Just a couple more deplorables for the basket, which is overflowing about now.

  6. “I prefer the Walmart parking lots”

What is there to prefer about parking your car in a parking lot? Does his local Walmart have a spot with a sign, “Reserved For Supreme Court Justices”?

    6
  7. Walmart parking lots my rear hoof. . . . .
The only time Clarence has been in a Walmart parking lot is to probably run over an employee who didn’t get out of his way
when he was taking a shortcut on the way to the airport.

  8. Katherine Williams says:

And this has been going on for twenty years! Too bad our “watchdog of the people” the press, never apparently even looked at Thomas and the rest of the corrupt religious fanatics on SCOTUS.

Vanity Fair had a good story starting with the headline:

He doesn’t care. He and “Ginni” are probably drinking wine and laughing their assess off at us. The Rethugs won’t touch him–not as long as there is a Dem in the White House–and he knows it.

    10
  11. BarbinDC, they’re probably laughing their assets off as well. What rotten, corrupt people!

  12. Ted, not Cruz says:

One-hundred seventy years after the Civil War, and you can still buy a Black man. At least this particular one.

    12
  13. Even his “I’m just a regular guy” RV isn’t what he implies. He has a Marathon conversion of a Prevost chassis, which when new started at about $750,000 and went up from there (they’re way more than that now). I’d guess when he bought it used it was around a half million dollars. To buy a used 1999 one like his right now would set you back $180 grand or more, for a 23 year old coach.

    Just a regular guy.

    13
  14. Steve from Beaverton says:

Ted, yes you are correct. Not nearly as surprising is TFFG could be bought and paid for many times over along with the wife of a Supreme Court injustice.

    14
  15. Now this is why I come to the salon! My hat is off to you for this beautiful takedown of this fool! I love you!

  16. Bob Boland says:

Don’t know about impeachment but breaking financial disclosure laws should lead to prosecutions. And I believe that said laws define failure to disclose to be a felony.

Wonder if a successful prosecution would, among other things, prompt the USSC to create a set of ethics standards that are mandatory? Naah, never gonna happen with the current Supremes.

On a side note, wonder what excuse will Speaker Qevin use to not begin impeachment proceedings against Thomas?

    16
  17. G Foresight says:

Don’t forget about good ol’ Ted!

“Ted Cruz tweeted this photo of Clarence Thomas swearing in 5th Circuit Judge James Ho. Turns out this is in billionaire Harlan Crow’s private library, and flight records show Crow’s jet dispatched to DC and back to Dallas before + after this event.”

  18. Grandma Ada says:

Scalia died on one of his trips to play golf near Big Bend. Who does that unless someone else pays the way? I think all the justices need a close examination – and we might want to start with the ones who pooped their pants reading the Propublica article!

    18
  19. Just heard that Crow funded the outfit good old Ginnie founded. That means Clarence had an uptick to his own salary with the court from someone else’s private funds. Roberts needs to get out in front of this by taking the reins on his brethren on the court. Note: not a single female on the Court is involved in this jive. I can’t wait for Clarence to retire and Eric Holder be appointed to his seat even thogh Eric himself will not be in said seat for a great many years. However long he is on the bench will be long enough.

    19
  20. Steve from Beaverton says:

Maggie- that’s a big find which obliterates that there was no there there. It’s already documented that there are huge conflicts of interest with what Ginni does on behalf of trumpf and her hubby’s position and rulings. Now it’s financial conflicts of interest. If this is not grounds for impeachment, there’s nothing that a supreme can’t get away with.
