NRA Admits to Money Laundering
The NRA has fessed-up that they take “foreign money” (Read Russian) and that they move it around between their accounts.
It would take a bloodhound with a roadmap, a compass, a sextant and Kemo Sabe to trace that money. Hell, they probably bought and sold crap on Ebay to cover their money trails.
“While we do receive some contributions from foreign individuals and entities, those contributions are made directly to the NRA for lawful purposes,” Frazer wrote to Wyden. “Our review of our records has found no foreign donations in connection with a United States election, either directly or through a conduit.”
And we should just believe you because …. ?

Isn’t the word “fungible” a go to term for RWers when talking about issues like abortion, claiming that federal money to Planned Parenthood can’t be separated in support vs non-support for abortion, birth control etc.? Guess the NRA is allowed to compartmentalize their money, PP can’t.
1Anyone can argue this point with/for me: it seems that the Wayne LaPierre “The government is going to take. your guns away” popped up with the beginning of a “healthy” rise in PACs. We know that at least some PACs are totally strange and do not comply with anything but their own rules. They will take $$ from anyone. I wouldn’t put it past Moscow to be behind the “government gun grab”. It is the most pungent way to destabilize democracy by turning government into the enemy. And they have plenty of contacts in this country to funnel the rubles here there and everywhere!

2This ties in with the story Rachel Maddow reported on last Friday. It seems that John Bolton appeared at an NRA fundraiser with a group of Russian gun rights activists (?). It sure looks like he’s involved in the money laundering in some way.

5How I wish we had a government that cared, instead of one that will shrug off and cover up and ignore the sewage stench coming from the NRA and anything Trumpian.
6FWIW Some of the better forensic accountants do have some bloodhound on at least one side of their family. And an arrogant organization like the NRA probably didn’t pay full attention to covering their tracks.

9I once had the pleasure of watching/hearing a brilliant forensic accountant testifying in court. He’d gone through the bank statements and other records of a crooked LLC that commingled funds to the detriment of an investor, and his firm figured everything out.
Is it Mueller time soon? Please?
10I’m willing to give the NRA the benefit of the doubt on this, as long as they turn over all of their final records and email for the last 10 years to Mr. Mueller.
11I, for one, think that any decent forensic accountant can find ANYTHING given enough time and information.
NRA should at least be fined heavily and have any tax-exempt status removed.
12Sadly all the news about shady NRA funding might get overshadowed by Justice Stevens’ idiotic op ed suggesting repeal of the 2nd amendment. Way to drown out sensible voices big guy…….sigh…..
