Not To Get Technical

December 15, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, I don’t know diddle squat about how the internet machine actually works.  I just accept it as magic and that eliminates all the confusion in my mind.

However, people who do understand the internet seem plenty worried enough for both of us.

Here’s what they are saying.

Like I said, I don’t understand it all but it appears that Russian is kinda like my dorm mother when I was in college – all up in my business snooping around where she doesn’t have any business.

To be honest, I just don’t like it.  So, Boris and Natasha – kiss my big blue butt.

Thanks to Deb for the heads up.

This is interesting. I received an email on Wednesday that purported to be from Amazon informing me that my packages were out for delivery. Not unusual but the email did not look like it was from Amazon and the domain ended in (dot)ru. I did not click on any of the links and deleted the email thinking it was Russian spam. But, Amazon packages were waiting for me when I got home that night. Like so many other things in the era of Drump, I don’t like this. I don’t like it at all.

I’ve begun changing my passwords every six weeks or so. I write them down in a little black book in pencil!

    Desperate times…

  6. My guess is gathering sender and recipient info ( which can’t be encrypted) for “spear-phishing” attacks.

  7. I’m reminded of a dear friend of mine who was talking on the phone with his brother, a retired British merchant seaman. When they heard some odd clicks, my friend said that it was probably just the authorities listening in. “Really? Well, let them listen to this….” The brother then let rip a sequence of profanity amazing even for a retired British merchant seaman. As they didn’t hear a gasp or a dropped handset, perhaps there wasn’t anyone listening… that time.

  8. This is kinda relevant.Tthe Internet of Things. More and more gadgets are capable of being connected to another gadget no matter how near or far away. And I bet they make some odd clicks!
