Large And In Charge
General Russel Honore needs to be put in charge of everything. I swear to goodness that if we put him in charge of vaccines, we’d all have a shot by next Thursday.
Here’s a shot from last night where he uses words like “super stupid” and “complicity.”
On MSNBC last night, he said the FBI and the Pentagon were complicit in this. That takes a ton and half of guts.
By the way, different topic – they pooped and urinated on the floor of the capitol. Thanks for the DNA, you jumbo jerks.
Gen. Honore has been my hero for a long time. Yes indeed. He would get things done.
1I just have the tiniest problem listening to Shep being incensed when he was at The Republic of Fox News as long as he was.
2Meanwhile covidiot Joe Manchin (D-WV) duh-clares no to $2000 stimulus checks, vaccinations must come first. #1 Joe, those are not stimulus checks they are survival checks for many. #2 Exactly how do you expect people people to live while awaiting those vaccinations and the restoration of the economy?
No problem with targeting those checks to those most in need. Lower the upper threshold or by other means. I’d be good with doubling the checks while adjusting the upper levels to pay for it to get the most money to those who need it the most.
Message to Joe, you are not the 50th Democrat in the Senate, nor do you have ‘special’ powers. C’mon Chuck, lean on that covidiot. ASAP
3Gen. Honoré is totally right. And all the folks in DC that went to one of our service academies ( talking to you Pompeo ), where were you Wednesday night and how did you uphold the Constitution? The GOP has not changed; they couldn’t overthrow the government, now they’ll try turn to not vaccinating us. Biden – hold firm!!!
4‘What else could I do?’ NJ Rep. Kim helps clean up Capitol
ASSOCIATED PRESS | Thursday, January 7, 2021 9:28 p.m.
Edit: Water bottles, clothing, Trump flags, even a U.S. flag littered the ground inside the U.S. Capitol after a mob ransacked the building.
Edit: New Jersey Rep. Andy Kim walked amid the mess after voting to certify Joe Biden’s victory over Trump — and felt the weight of the day wearing on him — when something motivated him to clean up the debris.

5General Honore is a true hero in New Orleans for his leadership after the Federal Flood in 2005. Associated Press: Capitol Police declined DOD assistance 3 days before the riot and then turned down FBI assistance as the MAGAt horde marched.

Jane & PKM. Let’s cut to the chase.
Because of the precedents established in the Wilkes & Liberty conflicts 200 years ago, I am reluctant to say that any representative, popularly elected, should not be seated. However, there has to be a breaking point.
No self-governing system can survive if it populates itself with foes of self-government.
The Republican senators and representatives should be rejected by the Privileges & Elections committees. (Or however the machinery works for unseating, since their credentials have already been accepted.)
hey wanted new elections. Let them have them.
7Harry Eagar @5, excellent compromise to a huge problem. Then again, would MO re-elect Josh Hawley now that he’s lost much of his big donor support? Ironic. The MAGAt protestors are so totally unaware that their representatives and heroes are some of the biggest Koch bought criminals money can buy.
Makes what Stacey Abrams and volunteers did for Georgia look even brighter today. WV? what to do, what to do about educating those who vote against their own interests?
8After they do DNA testing on the poop left in the capital, I hope they bag it up and force Trumpf to sit with it in a small room- preferably a cell.
9Jane & PKM Parliament kept refusing to seat Wilkes, and his constituency kept electing him. He was a scoundrel but he was their scoundrel.
In a new election, the scoundrels can be made to defend their behavior.
Then they will either not be returned, or their constituencies will be exposed for what they are.
10Harry Eagar @10, that was Parliament. btw If Wilkes was a scoundrel, there are no words to describe the Republicons in Congress today. ‘Democrat’ Joe Manchin certainly doesn’t rise to the level of scoundrel, not a loveable scoundrel by Wilkes standards. Closest we have to represent us today are AOC, the “Squad,” and a few random Senators who all happen to be Democrats.

Lehigh University rescinds Trump’s honorary degree Jan. 8th, 2021
********************************
Edit: In the wake of Wednesday’s insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, the Lehigh University Board of Trustees has rescinded the honorary degree granted to President Donald Trump three decades ago, a move sought by many members of the school community since Trump won the White House.

12Absolutely right. Trouble on Wednesday was lack of preparedness and nobody in command. General Honore would be an excellent choice.
It sounds like Lisa Murkowski is about ready to become an Independent, if not a Democrat.

13I hope Murkowski follows thru (soon) and starts a trend that will lead other senators to do the same. There needs to be be a majority in the senate rebuking hawley, cruz and the others that voted to overturn the election even after the insurrection. The strongest message would be to reject the party that enabled Trumpf for over 4 years. Maybe even support impeachment before 1/20- even if it would only be symbolic.
14Have looked at the 25th Amendment. It says more than most people are aware of. For one thing, it gives the prez some push back but only under very specific circumstances. Impeachment is usually an impediment to re-election some time down the road and for this one he will either be in the throes of alzheimer’s, in jail or dead. Item: must remember to keep Don Jr. from running for the office. He is as guilty as his male parent. Eric is just too dumb to even think of running. Jared, Invanka et al. should just simply get out of this country. I have a feeling that Melania has finally had it. She should just grab her kid and run. She has enough of her own money to live nicely say, in Switzerland along with mom, dad and her sister.Marla and Tiffany should just count themselves lucky. I also get the impression that tRump’s two surviving sisters are hunkering down and just keeping quiet.
I especially hated what I saw on TV. My job has taken me up The Hill on some occasions. I have respect for the place and for about 50% of the pols that work there, folks such as Tim Kaine, Sean Patrick Maloney and Debbie Dingle, John Warner and so on. However, it is actually easy to get into those well guarded buildings. the delivery doors are always open to allow trucks to go in and out. And all of those buildings are connected via an underground walkway and a tram service. At least 60 of those idiots have been arrested by the FBI and there is more to come.
As for tRump not attending the ceremony, no tears shed here.
And yes, General Honore is a gift and a hero!
15Sharing here my email to John Carter (Cruz and Cornyn already got theirs; forgot to copy;they’re all different:
Sir: I am appalled that you were one of those who opposed the reading of the Electoral College votes and chose to object to them, in an attempt to overturn the Presidential Election. You know that there was no evidence of massive fraud. You know that this was merely another dishonest attempt to a corrupt and demented president to cling to an office he has dishonored since he arrived in it. I can think of no honorable reason for you to do this unless you are too stupid to realize he was lying, or too lacking in honor to hold to your oath of office. Was it a bribe? Or a threat? Either way, a man of your age and experience should have shown enough courage to stand silent on this, at the least.
As events Wednesday showed, Donald Trump is a clear and present danger to this nation and to its rule of law. He connived with others to incite, and make possible, the invasion of the United States Capitol Building and its chambers of Congress, including offices of Representatives and Senators, where the thugs and hoodlums ransacked offices, stole, urinated and defecated on the floors, smeared feces on the walls and floors of the building, and threatened (being provided with handcuffs and gallows) to locate targeted individuals and murder them. They did murder one policeman. These are facts you cannot deny without lying. What in God’s name were you doing lending any credence whatever to this travesty of justice and order? When did you become a fan of criminal and disloyal behavior?
Vote for Trump’s impeachment. That would, in small part, redeem your now very blackened name, and begin to show that you now understand your oath of office is not to the president, or to your party, or to any individual, but to the Constitution. You have cracked it through; if you continue as you have done your oath will be shattered, and you will, I devoutly hope, spend the rest of your life in prison for sedition and treason. I have not agreed with you for years, but I did not think you capable of this level of dishonesty and hatred for your country. I hold by MY oath of office, to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign *and domestic.* I suggest you quit being one of those enemies.
I do not require a response; you will be judged by your behavior in the next week and a half.
16@11 and @12 …
Scoundrels, cads, and criminals are not a partisan issue — they show up everywhere, in all parties (and churches, and schools, and construction companies….). There have only been 8 people impeached & convicted in the whole history of our Republic … and one of them is now an elected Democratic House member.
Once revealed, there need to be consequences. Without them, the corruption grows.
I’m advocating that the House move swiftly to impeach — but not send the resolution over to the Senate immediately. Let there be continuing investigations into the Trump record, getting the documents which have been withheld, and getting testimony from those who no longer can claim 5th Amendment protections due to their pardons. Pull the whole thing together in a year or a little more, and then pass a subsequent impeachment resolution and send it to the Senate. Have the Senate trial in summer 2022 … it would make for great campaign ads for all those running against Representatives and Senators who backed Trump.
