In Case You Missed It

Greg Abbott’s people had a wonderful way of welcoming people to Wendy Davis’s event tonight.

This is what we’re going to face in Texas from now until November.  Please donate to the Texas Democratic Party to fight against this kind of crap from Republicans.  Texas Democrats are the ones with boots on the ground in every county in this state.   Plus, I’m on the Finance Committee for the State Party and will make sure your money is spent wisely.

Or donate to the Fort Bend County Democratic Party and help me hire another canvaser this summer.   We squeeze every dime out of your dollar.  Five dollars buys half  an hour of canvassing (that’s one side of a long street) in the Texas heat.  It goes to a college kid who is helping in the summer.

And after you donate, send an email to Greg Abbott letting him know that you did and why you did.  Keep it clean.  Keep it professional.  Keep it polite.  But, let him know that there’s a line and he crossed it.

Or let me know if you’re willing to phone bank for us from your home.  Or, if you’re from Texas, call your county chairman and ask what you can do to help.

The more of this crap we put up with, the more of this crap we’re going to get.

Bubba and Truman appreciate you letting me blow off steam here.

That’s all for tonight and have a pleasant tomorrow.

Be social and share!

Yeah, it’s not a good idea to read this too late at night. It gives you nightmares. I’m back to admiring babies being walked by my house and asking if the parents are Democrats. They usually are. Democrats just look like folks you want to spend time with. If you’re in Travis County, they still need Dems to be election judges next Tuesday. I’m going for training Saturday morning. Hope to see you there.

  2. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Mrs. Bankston, please know most of us men are not ammosexuals. We will always stand beside you to shed light on the Tea Bag crazy and Repug idiots.

Greg Abbott is a desperate loser. Let’s turn the desperate Abbott’s bs ads into pro Wendy Davis energy. My wife and I are out of state, so we’re all over the the e-mailing Greg option.

Without a doubt, we’ll keep it polite as well as coherent.

Gr, Grrrr, Grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Count to ten, then poop drop the idiots with their own poop. That is between you and I. With that out of our systems, Jane and I promise to unload on the morons in a polite fashion. Unbelievable, as to the extent Slabby Abby will go !

New bumper sticker: Gregg Abbot, lower than dog droppings.

  3. I tried to be nice and managed to for the most part, but the last sentence got away from me.

I asked him how he’d like it if he got called Dickless Ken.

    3
  4. It seems to me that the company that makes the Barbie dolls (Mattel?) might want to issue a “cease and desist” demand or some such. I’m pretty sure that using that name and the copied logo, etc., is illegal (and he’s our attorney general?!).

  5. Marge Wood says:

Laughing at Lynne. I’ll do five pages of phone banking for whoever you want me to, Miz Juanita Jean. I like phone banking. It’s kind of like opening surprise packages. Somebody’s mad? Okay, sorry. Somebody is lonely. Honey I can listen and moan with the best of ’em. Somebody is mad at the neighbor’s dog? Get her phone number and get the info she needs and call her back with it. They are amazed. Let us know your best phone banking story (changing names to protect the innocent of course.)

  6. Marge Wood says:

I nearly couldn’t think of anything to say, but here it is:

    Dear Mr. Abbott:
I want to say this politely but can’t you find a better way to speak up for yourself than putting a big picture of Abortion Barbie out in public? I mean, is that even LEGAL? Isn’t there some kind of copyright restriction on it?
    Sincerely,
    Marjorie N. Wood

  7. JAKvirginia says:

Okay. If we’re gonna go there, let’s go there!

I don’t need to see this garbage from the WheelchairWrustler!

There. How does it feel Greg?

    7
  8. Kate Dungan says:

Someone should call Mattel’s attention to this. Methinks the company’s lawyers would have plenty to say about it.

    8
  9. UmptyDump says:

It’s absolutely a trademark violation, Dinah. “Abortion Barbie” denigrates a product that the trademark owner works hard to build as a healthy play activity for young girls. Unfortunately, Mattel has nothing to gain by making a public issue of this slur, but you can bet that its lawyers have already dropped a cease and desist letter on the “Abortion Barbie” creators. Contrast the poster with this:

  10. Marion (formerly known as MM) says:

Thanks for the suggestion, Kate. I just sent an email to Mattel.

    10
  11. Cindy Hovde says:

    Me too Marion!

    11
  12. Since Abbott’s people are so fond of that 60’s icon Barbie,
let’s hope they also enjoy Perry Mason and a good courtroom drama!

    12
  13. Al in Az says:

You are kidding me right? The poster of Wendy as Abortion Barbie was not really put out in public – right? Has politics in this country really fallen down to this level? Do REAL God fearing Christians stoop to this level to get elected to office? Hell even Nikita Krushchev said that politicians all over are the same – they’ll promise you a bridge where there is no river – so anyone that’s susceptible to campaign promises is pretty damn naïve.

But this poster beats them all. Twain was so right when he said, “It is by the goodness of God that in our country we have those three unspeakably precious things: freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, and the prudence never to practice either.”

    13
  14. Wa Skeptic says:

Please note a very snippy note to Mattel.com has been sent.

    Go gett’em, Wendy

    14
  15. Virginia says:

I certainly hate the republicans and old Greg with a white hot fury, but this poster was up in Hollywood. Did Greg really have anything to do with it other than coining that awful name for her?

    15
  16. Hooo, boy! Shabby Abby is definitely going to respond to this inferno by insisting that over the years the Democratic Party has been just as bad. Well, Abby, lemme tell you something. During the JFK presidential campaign there was a particular Democrat who was able to pull stunts that were not only light years above the Abortion Barbie crap you pull, but they were also dead on funny! They had humor! Real humor! The kind that really made you belly laugh, not barf like your stunts make people do! And you call yourself a lawyer! Hells bells, man, you ain’t seen lawyerin’ yet like the kind the Mattell legal team is gonna do to you. And thats a fact!

    16
  17. OK. Donated to Texas Dem and Fort Bend.

And to think that a grown man plays with Barbie dolls……

    17
  18. Mattel should sue them to stop using the Barbie name/image.

    18
  19. Litlhorn says:

OK, somehow I was writing my comment here and it jumped to the next Item Comments – PLease see next post. Sorry ya’ll!

  20. Virginia says:

In the SA Express today there was an article that it was a wealthy Midland WOMAN who paid for those posters in Los Angeles.

    http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/Conservative-Midland-woman-funds-Abortion-5499208.php

What is wrong with these people?

    20
  21. Lorraine in Spring says:

The crazy lady in Midland, who thought sponsoring this piece of shart was so funny, should be hearing from Mattel lawyers soon enough.

Wish I had her address so she’ll get a thank you note when I make my next donation to Planned Parenthood in her name.

And yes, JJ, I’ll try to find some cash for Ft Bend Dems too. 🙂

    21
  22. Zyxomma says:

OK, I left a post on Mattel’s FB page. So did many others.

    22
  23. Marge Wood says:

My opinion only, but see, the Greg Campaign knew THEY couldn’t do the Mattel lookalike, but the rich old lady knew she could. She did it for whatever weird reason, knowing they would look out for her. MY OPINION.

    23
  24. Marge Wood says:

from friend in SA who got very annoyed about the Barbie lookalike. She said I could share.
    to me
I contacted the Copyright office (not easy, had to go through all kinds of hell) via email and sent them a detailed email with pictures, names of artist and person who commissioned artist, date, etc. I also included links to photos. They only deal with copyright issues and nothing else. I received a response saying it would be reviewed and someone would get back to me within 10 days.

  25. If you got to twitter and search #abortionbarbie you will see that these idiots have been busy for a long time. The people who use this hashtag for a while now. These idiots think that they are being clever but they get mad when they are called out for their stupidity.

Greg Abbott knows about and condones these idiots. Greg retweeted some posts from this group.

The GOP really hate and have no respect for women and women issues. This poster is just the latest in a long line of sexist crap being pulled by the Abbott campaign

    25
  26. Zyxomma says:

I got an answer on FB from Mattel:

“Hi [Zyxomma], we appreciate you taking the time to bring this to our attention. The so-called ‘Wendy Davis Barbie’ is not endorsed, produced or approved by Mattel.

I answered that I want them to sue Stuard and Sabo, or at least send them a cease and desist letter.

    26
  27. Its Friday. This has hit the social network big time. Just what Mattel doesn’t need. Its way past time for Shabby Abby to cough up a denial or two and castigate “whoever” did this to him and his righteous campaign (???). Oh, the slings and arrows of politics! Especially when they are shaped like a boomerang!

    27
  28. penelope says:

I gave wendy money at the time of her filibuster but I’m in Arizona and retired on a small income, supporting a disabled adult son, and have red state demons here to fight.

You Texans are going to have to win this fight the way we women won the right to reproductive freedom in the last century…on your own. If you let it slip away, you have yourselves to blame. Women are more then 50%. This should just not be this hard.

    28
  29. JJ,

Sent a little money out Ft. Bend way. Not much, but we do what we can…..

I know my County has a party chair, but the response from the local County honchos, to the best of my knowledge has been “crickets”. Maybe they are publicity shy. I would have thought that at minimum….. a “have you Republicans no shame?” would be in order, faxed in a Press Release to the local paper. Additionally I would think a phone call to Mattel would also be in order, if for no other reason than to ask “Did you give them permission to do this? And if not, why hasn’t a “cease and desist” gone their way?
    But that’s just me.

    29
  30. Don in Huaco says:

I want the poster. I don’t have much available money but I’d donate $50 for the poster and another $50 for Wendy’s autograph on it. I’d then give it to her when she wins. I’m sure there are others who would pay much more.

    30
  31. I don’t think (the impression I get from their FB page) Mattel is going to do anything about this, except deny that they produce it.

I also don’t think that this great grandmother of almost 20, and almost all boys (three girls) will be getting any more Hot Wheels from me. I didn’t need this dust up…… to stop me from buying the girls Barbie dolls. I wouldn’t do that to anybody in my family.
