In Case You Forgot

Article 3 of the Articles of Impeachment of Richard Nixon.

… has failed without lawful cause or excuse to produce papers and things as directed by duly authorized subpoenas issued by the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Representatives on April 11, 1974, May 15, 1974, May 30, 1974, and June 24, 1974, and willfully disobeyed such subpoenas. The subpoenaed papers and things were deemed necessary by the Committee in order to resolve by direct evidence fundamental, factual questions relating to Presidential direction, knowledge or approval of actions demonstrated by other evidence to be substantial grounds for impeachment of the President. In refusing to produce these papers and things Richard M. Nixon, substituting his judgment as to what materials were necessary for the inquiry, interposed the powers of the Presidency against the the lawful subpoenas of the House of Representatives, thereby assuming to himself functions and judgments necessary to the exercise of the sole power of impeachment vested by the Constitution in the House of Representatives.

Somebody needs to read this to Trump.

  2. He doesn’t care.
With a captured judiciary of results oriented ideological hacks who every day are less concerned with even trying to hide their prejudices and willingness to prejudge any case that might upset their political masters and if they forget for a second a firm yank on their leashes remind them of their place.

  3. Uh-uh. This concept is way too complicated to use sock puppets. He won’t be able to grasp.

Actually the Senate needs to read it and decide whether they are forever to be known as Trump’s b——h or they want the word patriot in their obituaries. Maybe they think folks will forget all this, but then there are folks like me who vividly remember Watergate. BTW, Rachel Maddow’s Podcast Bag Man about Spiro Agnew was very good.

If any Democrat had any doubt about impeaching Trump,
there should be no doubt left. We are now being held hostage by a maniac and his henchmen.

I think we’re going to see a Friday Toons display of TOADOTUS hiding under Kavanaugh’s robes in the SCOTUS chambers in an absolute panic because he believes a Constitutional fantasy thats straight out of a Marx Bros. movie. “Yeah, a rigged court, thats the ticket!”

The lawyers gotta be drawing straws to see who has to explain it to Lunkhead #1

Nixon didn’t have a captive court and senate. People with actual knowledge of the constitution and the law, not to mention a lack of grasp of common decency.

I expect inextricable doom for all of us except the very privileged, but still have a tiny drop of hope. People think I am too negative and cynical, but, yeah, I am.

  11. you can read it to Trump all you want, there are too many big words in it, for him to understand. even if he did comprehend it, he’d still ignore it. I’m beginning to think federal police are going to have to drag him out of the White House, after he’s sedated.
