If You’re in Austin this Weekend – UPDATED.

September 07, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

UPDATED:  I am in Austin.  The response to the program to find Democratic voters who have moved but not moved their voter registration has far exceeded all expectations.

This is the afternoon crew getting envelopes stuffed – and there were people behind me, too.  We will have more folks this weekend and will run 18 hours a day to get it done.

We have decided to run the list we have of Democrats who have moved to Fort Bend from out of state.  We found 4,868 of them.  It will cost $1,558 to do it.  I’m working on it.

Remember when I asked you to donate to a method to find Democrats in Texas who have moved but have not re-registered at their new address?

Remember when I asked you to donate to help a non-profit at register2vote.org so they could mail pre-populated voter applications along with a pre-paid stamped envelope?

Well, it all worked better than expected because Democrats across Texas signed up for these programs.

So, Glen send me a shout-out.

HELP They are drowning in envelops. Register2Vote.org is stuffing tens of thousands of voter registration forms to new voters.

Friday and Sunday at AFL Building auditorium. 9 am to 9 pm on Friday and again on Sunday. PLEASE come help them!!

The AFL building is located at 1106 Lavaca if you’re in Austin this weekend.

See ya there.  I’m on my way there this afternoon.

And yes, I’m still raising money for block walkers and phone bankers.  I really, really, really want Beto to win.

Be social and share!

I’m a thousand miles or so from Texas, or I’d be there to help out. I wish you many volunteers and much success, though. Go, Beto!

  2. Good. Bury teddie boy beneath a wave of new voters.

    ps
Think about starting lottery/contest on who wrote the op-ed?

If so I vote for Nikki Haley.
With the date ( Sept.25/26) of demented donnie actually “Chairing” UN security council I could see her trying to avoid the shame of, literally, the entire world seeing what a doofus her political hero/master is. Trying to prevent that. Hopes it will tie him into such paralyzed knots clinched tight by paranoia that he can’t/won’t “expose” himself in front of unfriendly audience.
She doesn’t mind being shown as a inhumane thug by pushing for instititional child kidnaping by ICE but has enough ego that she doesn’t want them to see the fat slob she has sworn her fealty to.
She is a christianist delusional so using language like her fellow fantasist pence so language “clues” would echo in her feeble little pea brain.
At least it answers what the writer was trying to accomplish and why now.

    FYI news:
George Papadopoulos was sentenced to a paltry 14 days in prison today. At his sentencing hearing in court today:, lawyer for PAPADOPOULOS says Donald Trump “hindered this investigation more than George Papadopoulos ever could” by launching a “fake news campaign” and calling FBI Russia probe a “witch hunt.”

  4. That Other Jean says:

This is getting to be a bit disappointing. There have been extensive investigations, trials, and guilty verdicts, as well as guilty pleas, which result in minuscule sentences. The Roman poet Horace seems relevant: “The mountain labored mightily, and brought forth a mouse.”

    4
  5. That Other Jean, just think how much dirt Papadopoulos must have given Mueller to earn such a small sentence.

Sadly, it is illegal for me to send anything other than good wishes, but you certainly have those.

  6. That Other Jean says:

Jess, I profoundly hope you’re right. I never got the impression that George had all that much information to give, but I’d love to be wrong.

  7. I thought Popadop was supposed to have spilled a lot of beans . . .

Bookies are taking bets on who is Pootie’s Puppet’s Deep Throat. Latest I heard, odds favor Prissy Pussy Pency, but I don’t see it. That pukey little prick wouldn’t do a thing to that might remove his lips from Pootie’s Puppet’s ass. I put Kelly in as my first choice, but after that I’d bet on someone less well known than Cabinet members.

Debbo, I am hoping it is Jared or Ivanka.

  9. Folks, besides the 14 days the perp got he was also sentenced to community service AND to pay a $9,500.00 fine. GP ain’t gonna like the 14 days, believe me! For his pampered little self it will feel like 14 years and when he is released he had better not skip out on the community service angle or he will be back in jail. AND the check for $9,500 had better not bounce or that will be added to his sentence, too!

As for Who Is Anonymous, think Agatha Christie’s novel Orient Express. There could’ve been at least 2 people involved in writing that op ed, one of them a woman or maybe both of them!

  10. @Debbo:

I wouldn’t be surprised if the WH resistance, may be getting assist from others in government who Rump has slimed and damned. I think someone could want the corpse VP out of the way by Rump firing him. But what happens is anyone’s guess…

  11. The Surly Professor says:

In addition to registering voters, this is exposing more young activists to politics and the possibility of actually influencing the government even without billions to bribe politicians with. No matter how the election turns out, that is potentially the most powerful effect of what JJ and the Texas Democrats are doing right now.

My first intro to politics was stuffing envelopes for Jim Wright in the 50s. True, I was a kid, and at the campaign headquarters only because my 18 year old aunt was stuck with baby-sitting me. She was one of the many 1950s college students fired up to get a liberal Democrat nominated in Texas. But the experience stuck and kept me active to this day.

Don’t worry about the salon, JJ. We promise not to squabble too much while you’re busy with the real reason for this establishment. We also promise to not slack off on the snark and loathing for the current administration.

  12. @maggie

Im sure Popodoc will have it better than most of the common citizens off the street who ended there up for lesser offenses. I’m sure he’ll get better treatment.

  13. Johnroliphant says:

But 14 days in jail for that squish is a lifetime.. He is scared. Thank Chuthulu.

  14. Marjorie Wood says:

Darn, I just missed this. I could do this sort of thing from home. We are going to have a PopUp campaign office at our house soon, unless they decide I don’t qualify. I encourage you to do that if you live in Texas. You can have it at home, or in a dome, or while you roam, or on the patio or in the garage. It don’t cost nuthin’.
