If I Had To Pick The One Thing That Made Me Bite Nails This Week
Y’all, if it wasn’t raining right now at the beauty salon, my hair would catch on fire. By gawd, this already has steam coming out my ears.
All of the ethics complaints filed against Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his confirmation proceedings were dismissed on Tuesday after a panel of federal judges concluded that Kavanaugh is no longer covered by the judiciary’s disciplinary process.
All 83 complaints were dismissed because the ethics code that applies to the judiciary does not apply to Supreme Court justices.
The Washington Post is almost as mad as I am.
Okay, so figure this out. The Supreme Court, who insure the rule of law and that no man is above the rule of law, is … you guessed it, above the rule of law.
I guess it kinda like the Pope. You become infallible when you become Pope. And, we know how well that worked out.
83?!?!?!
1. I had no idea he had ANY ethics complaints that were in progress.
2. Why didn’t this come up at his confirmation hearing?
1It DID come out, as I recall, but very late in the process. More like an intention to file complaints than actual ‘at the time’ complaints.
Then, silence.
If he gets enough stink on him, the supremes may sanction him on their own, but I doubt it. More likely he’ll have to be impeached.
2Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland. Merrick Garland.
F Trump, McConnell, and Kavanaugh.
3I’m old enough to remember those “Impeach Earl Warren” billboards. It can be done, but it never has been.
Merrick Garland and Happy New Year to you, Pancho.
4January 3, 2019, Congressional oversight begins with the 116th United States Congress. Never too late to reverse the appointment of Boofie Kavanaugh for his multitude of lies and 83 ethics complaints.
Pancho Sanza, “Merrick Garland” is the perfect response to any whining by Old Scratch McConnell and the snacilbupeR enablers of RAT45.
5@Jane & PKM #5: So, can ethics complaints form the basis for articles of impeachment?
Let’s find out, shall we…

and the horses they rode in on.
7Old Fart, short answer – yes. Per the Constitution the definition of “high crimes and misdemeanors” has its beauty in the eye of the beholder, or in this case Congress. Congress has been negligent in its oversight role for a number of years. Worst case being the abdication of war powers, but all this “small stuff” has a way of festering and becoming bigger. Unattended bad acts like Farenthold and other members of Congress as well as the judiciary become patterns & practices, when there’s a failure to censure. Whether they impeach Kavanaugh or at a minimum censure him depends both on pressure from we the people on our Congress varmints and how the new sheriff in town, Speaker Pelosi, responds to concerns from her caucus members.
No guarantees. But unless we contact them, we can’t expect them to act on our thoughts. The irony. Feel our pain. NV elected another Democratic Senator, a governor and 3 House members. Our district is represented by Mark Moron Amodei (R). We’re not feeling the love and plan to correct that in 2020.
8They tried to bring William O. Douglas up on charges, but nothing stuck. Abe Fortus resigned rather than face an ethics review. Anybody else?
9That is like dropping a burglary charge because you moved to another town. If the rules/laws are ridiculous, change them.
10Yeah, I read that in the Post. Seems like the judgement of the panel reviewing the charges needs to be appealed but to what court? Can the same charges be resubmitted but based on a different angle?
11I understand that the complaints have been referred back to a body under Roberts’ authority, AND made available to Congress for investigation. Who’s our guy on the House Judiciary Committee? Nadler?
12He is subject to Congressional check. He can and should be impeached.
13Before we get too wound up, some examination is in order.
The complaints were sent to Kavanagh’s “old district”. Without ruling on the merits, that district issued a statement that he’s no longer under their jurisdiction (since he has moved on to the Supreme Court), so they can’t rule on it.
Now, if the Supreme Court drops it on the floor, then some hell needs to be raised.
Yes, this all looks bad, but what will be bad (or not) is what is made of it now.
