Holy Crap. Who Did He “Promise” To Blow?
So, it’s 11:00 after a good ballgame and Brian Williams is telling me that Trump promised something to some damn foreign leader that has the intelligence community filled with fear.
I hope there will be more hints about this tomorrow morning because I’m afraid he just gave away Kansas or something. There’s a whistle blower.
CNN and the Washington Post have the story.
Those never-say-anything agencies hopefully are doing what’s needed to keep classified secrets from Rump.
1This developing story may be a measure of whether Trump can still shock & surprise any of us in 2019.
2The story re: Whistleblower complaint. It is monster’s latest foray into dismantling the House’s powers of investigation. Especially if it involves the Executive order, Fiat or generally spitting on the constitution while he is trying to run his crime syndicate.
‘What the Hell Is Going On Here’?: Alarm Raised as Trump’s Intelligence Director Refuses to Give Whistleblower Complaint to Congress
Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire informed the House Intelligence Committee chairman that he’d been directed by “a higher authority” to withhold the complaint
Adam Schiff

@RepAdamSchiff
No Director of National Intelligence has ever refused to turn over a whistleblower complaint the IG determined to be urgent and credible.
There is no privilege to engage in misconduct; not under this president, or any other.
That’s why I issued a subpoena and will enforce it.

3I’ll drop this in from the article too:
The developing story, Sargent added, is likely “about to get a whole lot more media scrutiny, because it involves secretive back-channel maneuvering, a possible threat to national security and potential lawbreaking at the highest levels of the Trump administration, possibly at the direction of President Trump himself—all with a whole lot of cloak-and-dagger intrigue thrown in.”
The DNI’s refusal to forward the whistleblower’s complaint to the committee represents “an ominous new turn,” he wrote, “one that should only underscore concerns that serious—and dangerous—lawbreaking might be unfolding.”

5Couple this with the IRS leak about improper handling/influence on legally mandated executive branch tax audit and only hope for the demented one is a nixonian/Cheney position that as president he is the state and hence cannot, by definition, commit treason or any other crime coupled with the hope that Moscow Mitch has so corrupted the judicial branch that he might win.
6Last night Lawrence O’Donnell had a read through of the pertinent whistleblower legislation. Apparently if the whistleblower sends a confirmation of his actions to the DNI, they can then legally directly approach the intelligence committees in Congress, bypassing the restrictions of the DNI.
We shall see…
7A fun little timeline, although, for some reason none of this appears on my Q Annon Calendar?
Jul 31: Trump has a questionable undisclosed call with Putin about “forest fires.” (Which the Russians say was actually about “normalizing” relations.)
Aug 2: Expiration of INF Treaty
Aug 7: Huntsman resigns
Aug 8: Coats and Gordon out at DNI. Coats allegedly burst into Gordon’s office, interrupted a meeting she was holding and convinced her to resign with him.
Aug 12: Maguire in at DNI
Whistleblower complains to ICIG
Aug 23: Trump lobbies G7 to let Putin back in
Aug 30: Madeleine Westerhout – someone who likely overheard numerous Trump phone calls – is fired for “inappropriate behavior” and subsequently reminded of NDA
Sept 9: CNN breaks first story about exfiltrated Russian spy in U.S.
IC IG transmits news of the complaint to Schiff
Sept 10: Bolton resigns
CNN publishes follow-up to its earlier spy story about how Trump says he dislikes using foreign spies against adversaries.
Sept 12: Schiff requests the whistleblower report, and suddenly aid to Ukraine is unfrozen by the White House.
Sept 13: Schiff goes public
Sept 19: WaPo is now reporting The inspector general was uncomfortable with the DNI’s decision to defer to DOJ, which got the DNI to refrain from forwarding whistleblower complaint about Trump to Congress.
The IG thought DNI should “follow the law.”
The whistleblower’s complaint fits a disturbing pattern:
shared intel w/Russian officials in Oval (May 2017),
confiscated notes from Putin mtg in Hamburg (July 2017), sided w/Putin over IC in Helsinki (July 2018),
and vowed not to spy on North Korea (June 2019).
And top aides and officials have also repeatedly been so concerned about the president’s private communications with foreign leaders that they have leaked details to the press. For example: the Australian PM call and the Putin “do not congratulate” call.
The redoubtable Norm Ornstein sees three main possibilities here: “Trump promising Erdogan he will hand over Gulen. Trump promising Putin he will hand over Browder. Trump promising Putin he will out our spy. Each outrageous and against American values and interests. Traitorous.”
8Just as an aside, I’m OK with giving away Kansas.
9Wyatt Earl, don’t be in too big a rush to ditch Kansas….
Kansas Senate General Election Matchup:
Barry Grissom (D) 52% (+10)
Kris Kobach (R) 42%
This was an internal GOP poll reviewed by the WSJ.
There are no cross tabs nor do we know what the MOE is. There is also no guarantee that the Kansas GOP will be dumb enough to run the guy who cost them the Governor’s mansion but still…..

10This will need to be one hell of a smoking gun to get through to the 35% of Americans who support Trump. A depressingly large number of them just don’t the Hell care. They do not understand this stuff; what they do get is the $10 or so extra in their take home pay and the fact that their guy is sticking it to Liberals.
11Just blue skying here. What if he promised to pull out of NATO in return for Russian help in the next election? The Russians are already helping, but Pooty-Poot may have made him an offer he can’t refuse over the phone.
Or how about this? He proposed to MBS that we’d attack Iran in return for a big loan to Jared? Netanyahu might like a part of that deal, too. (It always seemed to me that Bibi and MBS were rather strange bedfellows. Middle East politics may not be what they seem…)
12T-R-E-A-S-O-N. Please look it up, Madam Speaker, before it’s too late.
131) Trump bought off America’s rich with tax cuts and handing the keys to the regulatory agencies to the industries they oversee, and the owners of every major news network and paper are snapping to attention upon Trump’s command, 2) therefore he could literally have handed the country to Putin and 1/3 of the country would be told it was Pelosi’s fault, while the other 2/3 would be paralyzed by competing narratives, 3) Moscow Mitch still owns Congress. So tell me who is going to stop him?
14This is a good time for those of us with Republicon varmint representation in the House to remind said varmints that a failure to cooperate with holding IQ4.5 accountable will result in the failure of their re-election.
We can encourage Speaker Pelosi and other Democrats to investigate this maladministration to the nth of the possibilities. But to turn this mess around, Republicons in the House and Senate must face a stiff price in 2020. Looking at you, Moscow Mitch.
15Keep Lawrence. We have a niece and nephew who live there. Chuck Kobach and the rest of Kansas.

This article has George Conway hollering that if Trump presses Ukraine’s new President to investigate Joe Biden, Trump should be impeached ASAP…
17Deb:
18Thanks for that timeline. Very interesting.
The answer to the question asked in the headline of this piece?
Vlad the Trump impaler.
Sorry, I had the right to remain silent. But I didn’t have the ability.
More this morning about Ukraine…thinking this all has to do with some as yet unknown quid pro quo for Ukraine “investigating” Joe Biden and wrecking his election chances for Trump. Rudy Giuliani is spouting off again as well about the same timeframe and his part or non part. Stay tuned…
