Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Damn, I wish I had been there!
1But there will be a good one in Kansas City today.
Tremendous effort and results, ladies. Jane is in Reno, NV today at an Orange Foolius protest. Among the many signs this one stood out: “America Got Grabbed”
With this picture attached to those words, it should go viral before the next protest:

2On the Ann Richards bridge. Where else? Where is she now that we need her worse than ever?
3A statement indeed. Let’s hope the movement has lots of staying power.
4My wife and her friends are marching right now (in Boston).
5It’s a start, but Drumpf’s tiny little attention span will be riveted!
March on!
Boston police chief estimating marchers count between 120,000 and 150,000. WOW!
6The problem I have with this is that progressives are marching and signing petitions, while the Repubs hold the power and are running the federal (and many state) governments. Among other things that gives them the power to do is to pass voter suppression laws and appoint a Supreme Court that will uphold them.
Time and again progressives have lost elections because Repubs know that winning elections is important and act accordingly. They turn out to vote for their candidate; progressives too often don’t. Perhaps that is what we should get emotional about. We lost this election, but we don’t have to lose the next one. We just need to vote sensibly.
Clearly we should be blaming the Repubs for their horrible policies, but progressives need to start blaming themselves for losing elections. And to do something about it. Maybe Trump will serve as the tipping point that will make us get our act together.
7***** Mama PLEASE don’t open the link *****
Dr Suzy has some amusing thoughts on Donnie and bonobos, among her jabs are some healing words for those of us still venting. Dr Suzy vents with the best of them.

8The crowd estimate for Greensboro, NC was 3,000. Initial expectation was 1,000, so yay!!! It was a gender, age, and ethnically diverse group. Yes, I wore my pink p***y hat and safety pin.
There was a peace and reconciliation gathering in Winston-Salem but they were not out in the streets. I am not feeling very peaceful or reconciliatory right now so I chose Greensboro. Even little bitty West Jefferson, NC had a march.
9LynnN: It’s because too many liberals and progressives let the perfect be the enemy of the necessary. We keep talking about kicking Repug ass when we should aim our leather at Dem ass.
You don’t vote? You don’t count. Go sit in the corner and shut the hell up! FORTY SEVEN PERCENT OF ELIGIBLE VOTERS DIDN’T VOTE. I won’t listen to them lecture me about “democracy”.
ALOT of people marching today. Wonder how many voted.
10I imagined myself speaking to one of these protests, and asking “Raise your hand if you voted!”
U don’t think many hands would be down.
11Madonna speaking to marchers in DC right now. Waiting for Donnie to claim the A-listers did show for his coronation! (Now she’s singing!)
Latest DC estimate: 500,000
Total US: Definitely millions
(Sung to We Will Rock You)
12We don’t
We don’t
Want you!
Good on the protesters, every single one of them! Now carry that enthusiasm into encouraging, promoting, working for, voting for, and encouraging your neighbors to vote for, Democratic candidates for everything from the local school board to Congress in next year’s elections. We blew this one; we can’t afford to leave things as they are.
13I second That Other Jean; we need to do a lot of work to overcome the gerrymandering and vote suppression so a tragic farce like Trump doesn’t happen again, as well as the GOP takeover of Congress.
Meanwhile, here’s a list of some good signs:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/wp/2017/01/21/my-favorite-signs-at-the-womens-march-on-washington/
The WashPost says “Millions Protest at Women’s Marches Across US”– MILLIONS!
14Rhea, thanks for the link to the signs. I love them.
15I stumbled across this NYT article while I was trying to find something else. My eyes popped at the info about Cambridge Analytical. I’m thinking the Dems need to learn from this…
16There were 60,000 expected in Chicago today. The actual estimates were between 150,000 and 250,000. It was awesome!
17I applaud the women’s marches for shouting to the world that we will not accept The Drumpf Circus, but all this blaming Democrats who actually shelled out our hard earned money, put the yard signs out and showed up to vote overwhelmingly for our candidate is not helpful. The real problem was the gerrymandered voting districts, voter ID laws and voter repression. The Rethugs had the set up in place and the “low information voters” handed them the electoral vote. There is no way we can convince these bigots to vote Democrat even if it is in their own self interest. Our focus needs to be on redistricting.
18We saw today how millions of Americans want to stand up to the repression of the Repuglicans. We have to fight smarter.
This takes me back decades to the protests during the Viet Nam war! I think I see this happening all over again. The millions who marched today in this country and all over the world are just the start! And the one who will do the most damage to himself is himself! He can’t help it!
19Maryelle, I agree, but in order to focus on redistricting, Dems need to win in 2020 in a whole bunch of states that they lost in 2010. And each Repub win in 2010 and the federal win now allows them to put in place laws that will make it much harder for Dems to win.
A friend of mine’s husband didn’t like Trump, but voted for him in order to “protect the Supreme Court.” I wish more progressives had that mind set.
We need the Dems to win elections. Period.
