Heads Will Roll
When Defense Secretary Mark Esper said yesterday that he did not know where they were going when he followed like a little puppy dog across a street where peaceful people were exercising their freedom and were assaulted for it.
He should have resigned then and learned not to follow Trump anywhere unless there’s a battle plan in place. Trump is insane and if Esper doesn’t know that by now, he does not need to the head of the military.
But, instead of resigning, he’s going to let Trump fire him.
“I do not support invoking the Insurrection Act. The option to use active-duty forces in a law enforcement role should only be used as a matter of last resort and only in the most urgent and dire of situations. We are not in one of those situations now.”
And soooooooo … today.
Multiple sources close to President Trump tell Axios they were perplexed by Defense Secretary Mark Esper’s NBC News interview and wondered what Esper was trying to achieve.
I dunno. Maybe a little mark by his name in God’s tally sheet?
Good Lord, ya gotta wonder who’s under him.
My years as a proof reader wants to suggest a small correx in the header: but only due to the barrage of GoPrevaricators who shunned admitting any collusion to this farce.
‘Eyes will roll!’
1Just found this: https://www.alternet.org/2020/06/military-adviser-resigns-to-protest-trumps-st-johns-photo-op/
Apprently Esper has a spine, ethics and enough courage to leave before Trump slimes him.
2Betting pool: Esper’s firing is announced late on:
— Friday, June 5
— Friday, June 12
— Friday, June 19
— Friday, June 26
Place your bets soon!
3Once Esper is fired then Trump can put in an “Acting” Secretary of Defense who will do his dirty work.
My solution to many of these problems is simple; alas, the Secret Service will visit if I say more but I can dream.
4Papa, that article talks about one of Esper’s assistants who resigned, not Esper. The assistant, James Miller, in his resignation letter, criticizes Esper for not resigning himself for allowing Dump to manipulate him in that photo stunt.
5So far, Esper is waiting for the axe to fall. No spine, no ethics, no courage.
Mattis has spoken up and so has a whole bunch of former military https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/02/us/politics/military-national-guard-trump-protests.html
6Esper STILL doesn’t get it. So Trump will splain it to him:
“It IS a last resort measure! I COULD LOSE IN NOVEMBER!”
So he’ll deploy the troops in any state that will let him get away with it [iow, in any state run by a Republican governor and legislature] and keep them out there till November 3 — when he plans to strafe all those “very bad evil people who are lined up outside for who knows WHAT! I’ll bet they’re plotting to overthrow the government!”
Then he’ll keep them deployed till January 20 and threaten to keep them out there forever more.
7Right up till the US marshals go in and forcibly remove him from our House.
First, we have to go through the whole Kabuki theater: “Esper who? I don’t really know the guy. Never met him. He was a holdover from Obama, and part of the Deep State trying to silence me. A really bad guy, never any good at his job.”
[And for Bush the Junior’s recent attempted foray into political decency, let’s not forget him for writing the first draft of the theater: “Kenny who?” when the Enron grift blew up just before 9-11 rescued B the J.]
8We’re coming to the tipping point. Authoritarianism outright.
9Or authoritarianism granted by the electorate through rigged elections.
Make no mistake people. F:: cking trump is the catalyst for our current situation. A tool. He’s performed better than the Koch and Mercer’s could’ve imagined
