Heads Up, Texans!

September 27, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Customer Elizabeth Moon reports that it took her doing seven backflips and a couple of cartwheels to ensure that she is listed as a registered voter on the Texas Secretary of State “Am I Registered to Vote?” website.

You might want to check it yourself because, dammit, I do not trust anybody appointed by Rick Perry.

And I especially do not trust Republicans with this election!

Thanks to Elizabeth for the heads up.

  1. That was interesting. Using my TDL# got me nowhere.
Reentered with name and date of birth and it came up as registered.

  2. m in El Paso says:

My name etc. turned up registration to vote easy as pie. Maybe the Austin Repubs have given up on us in El Paso County — too blue perhaps.

  3. ENSURE, not INSURE in the first sentence.

    – your friendly spelling Nazi

  4. Another Ellen in Texas says:

Using the aforementioned name and DOB; I too am a registered voter. Thanks for the reassurance!

  5. I’m registered to vote. I checked by my name. We all should send this info out, though; I get asked periodically about whether or not someone is registered to vote. I tell them that if there is any doubt at all, he/she should go ahead and fill out a new voter registration card.

  6. Juanita Jean says:

Thanks, Jon. I actually graduated high school. Hard to believe, huh?

  7. JJ, I am a retired Professor of English, and I forgive you.

What is one little mistake compared to all of the joy you bring to us as you roust these villains out of their caves into the brilliant sunshine for all to see. Keep it up, Kid. I will ensure you that I will continue to read.

  8. Also check your spouse and grown children/grandchildren. If there is a problem, (like having been declared dead prematurely), it is time to start making things right.

  9. I just confirmed that my son, my daughter and I are all registered.

  10. Don A in Pennsyltucky says:

I checked and I’m not registered but a few years after I moved out of Texas, I got the voter registration card they send out before primary elections and it got forwarded to me in Pennsyltucky. I sent it back.

  11. Austinhatlady says:

I checked first by Tx DL # and got nothing, but using name and birth date show me as registered in Travis County precinct 103. That’s a relief!

  12. Elizabeth Moon? She of Paksenarion fame?

  13. Dear shirt, yes, indeedy. That Elizabeth Moon. She just lives an hour up the road from Austin. And she’s working on more books in that series.

Thanks for the head’s up. Guess I’d given my DL# at some point as both name and DL search worked for me.

My sister just moved, though. Need to make sure she changed her voter registration, though as she still owns the old house, she could vote in the old precinct still.

  14. I forgive the grammatical error JJ! Grading papers makes me cranky. My pet peeve today is students who misspell the word “I.” Yup, they misspell a one-letter word, because it’s just oh so much hard work to hold down the shift key while pressing the “i” key. Sigh.

  15. Juanita Jean says:

Hey, my iPad has spoiled me about that, too. I am always a little testy when I have to hit the shift key on my PC.

  16. Vote the first day of early voting. That way you will have time to raise hell if you are denied the right to vote, and your vote will count if you are run over by a beer truck or a republican between the first day and election day.
