Heads Up

December 28, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Glen arrived in Georgia with two House Mothers who will keep things safe and do the cooking.  They will be stationed in Savannah and are working in conjunction with the Georgia Democratic Party. The kids will start canvassing today.

Making lasagna last night.

Here are some of the kids checking in and getting their official “uniform.”

They have promised an update tonight.

Be social and share!

I am impressed. When I was in college in the ’60s nothing like this was on our horizon.

And if it had been, the canvassers I went to school with would have been pushing Goldwater, so maybe it’s just as well.

Hurray for them! May it all go like clockwork, and no one in the group get sick with anything, let alone COVID!

  3. Harry Eagar, I remember those days. I tried to do a rally for farmworkers with some outreach guy my cousin introduced me to. He couldn’t get the movie reel to play. Didn’t matter, hardly anyone showed up.

Off this topic but I don’t know where else to put it. Just now, between checking the stats for one county and another, the state-level stats for Texas at the Johns Hopkins dashboard infographic zeroed out. Not the county numbers, but the state numbers. State death rate *had* been a number (close as I can remember 1.59% case fatalities) and then was zero, just checked again, still zero.

Somebody’s tinkering with the numbers. Again.

I hope the kids are wildly successful, and turnout for Democrats is HUGE. All the best to them, and to those, like you, who support them.

I’m glad that the GA Dems. Will have this support, but even more glad that these kids get a chance to see how a campaign works at the ground level. Maybe we’ll have some new blood in Texas in a few years!

Bravo to these intrepid Texas Democrats!
    Thank you for the photos.

  8. As the Georgia 2020 general election returns slowly coalesced by county, I remember the Savannah region as a blue oasis in a sea of red. Hope they’re not preaching to the choir!

John@8 … this other John hopes the kids ARE preaching to the choir, and making certain they show up. In special elections generally, and Georgia particularly, there is a history of voter participation drop off for the election as a whole, and by Democratic voters in particular.

If door knocking, holding signs at high volume traffic spots, phone calls, texting, postcards, letters and OTHER forms of contact can keep Georgia Democrats and the independents who vote with them coming out and making certain to vote for BOTH Democrats for Senate (and the other race, too), it would help push totals up … and that is what is needed.
