Heads Up

August 07, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Hey Guys, if the website gets wacky over the next few days, that’s because Anna the Geek is doing a major overhaul of the stuff in the background that I believe is magic.

Please be patient while she gets everything fixed and working properly.  We might get lucky and never even notice.

Okay, don’t worry about the website crashing just after you finish your magnus opus and before you hit send, got it.

Whaddya mean, “if” the website gets wacky?

  4. She does great job.
    What’s her secret?
Offering to the spirit of Steve jobs and/or Ada Lovelace?

  5. How is the mood in Texas tonight?

I have thought about Beto. I felt from the start he needs experience.
Look at trump, no government experience and he is a disaster.
I am not comparing their moral outlook but there is something to be said for some experience at a higher level of government. You have to know how government works.
I would love to see him in office, representing Texas. And then in a few years run for POTUS.

    I’m with slipstream.

A few days ago, I had a terrible time getting on to the board, and it was even harder to post anything. It doesn’t happen often, but it can be frustrating.

    Hope the upgrade helps.

Why is “Geek” used to describe the computer savvy, it should be “Nerd”, a perfectly and increasingly popular motivation. (I am neither).

  10. Opinionated Hussy says:

Linda Phipps – Either is correct, though ‘Geek’ is more often applied to those who are computer savvy, and “Nerd” to those who are passionate about various SciFi franchises…it’s not universal. Personally, I think “Anna the Geek” makes her sound exotic…like “Zorba the Greek”.

Lunargent@8, it was amazing that the heavy internet traffic didn’t crash more websites as people were in search of answers to two more senseless mass shootings. We feel a similar internet reaction during wildfires with the emergency action network (EAN) when cell phone towers are essentially unavailable to routine traffic. Things here had improved noticeably under the Obama Administration. The last 104+ weeks of “infrastructure week” with this maladministration the crumbling of any gains is all too apparent.

So, I see two (2) trackers on this website: one from facebook; the other from google-analytics. Any reason you need these? I have no particular reason to share my browsing history with either organization.

Just don’t install Disqus for the comments, PLEASE.

  14. When going to this site a few minutes ago on Firefox my computer gave me a message box saying my browser was preventing some parts of this website from loading. So I switched to a different browser where it works fine. Thought maybe Anna might want to know that.

J.J., I think the term instead of wacky, could be wonky. (What happens when you “Improve” tech stuff.)

  16. I have noticed that there is now a “facebook Comments” heading just above the “Leave a Reply” line when one signs in for a comment.
Does this mean that Facebook will have access to any comment made on this site from now on?
