Head ‘Em Up and Move ‘Em Out

June 18, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Trump got all beside himself and couldn’t contain the good news.

President Trump said in a tweet Monday night that U.S. immigration agents are planning to make mass arrests starting “next week,” an apparent reference to a plan in preparation for months that aims to round up thousands of migrant parents and children in a blitz operation across major U.S. cities.

The economic impact of this is deeply troubling, but the inhumanity of it is immeasurable.

However, it was certainly nice of Trump to announce it early so that those who need to can seek sanctuary until it passes.

Usually these raids are kept very quiet because the element of surprise is what makes them work.  Trump fixed that.

ICE officials said late Monday night that they were not aware that the president planned to divulge their enforcement plans on Twitter.

Well, I suspect not.

And that’s why the deep state truly is taking over.  They do things without telling him.  Can’t blame ’em.

This is nothing more than IQ4.5’s prelude to his Klan rally in Orlando. pResident “lock her up” and “yada yada yada … Mexico will pay” has a logistics problem. There are not enough ICE agents and portable kennels nor the $$$ to enforce the latest of his and Stephen Miller’s backfiring schemes of abject cruelty. D’OH But really. Who could have seen this coming? Threaten to lock down the border, so people migrate now to beat the rush. Once again Donnie with his gift of unintended consequences has no immigration legislation pending, so he “needs” a few ICE raids to show he trying. He’s really trying but those mean states, especially Democratic ones just won’t cooperate.

If only he had left DACA alone….

If only he could forget President Obama. Iran, Paris, trade; all efforts to thwart the “Obama legacy” are blowing up in the Dotard’s face.

The word I read was “millions”. This to go along with bombardment of Iran to kick off his re-election bid. Massive gaslighting to to turn his crimes into “fake news.”

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump is threatening to remove millions of people living in the United States illegally on the eve of formally announcing his re-election bid.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement next week will “begin the process of removing the millions of illegal aliens who have illicitly found their way into the United States,” Trump said in a pair of tweets Monday night.
“They will be removed as fast as they come in,” he wrote.
An administration official said the effort would focus on the more than 1 million people who have been issued final deportation orders by federal judges but remain at large in the U.S. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to explain the president’s tweets.

Make no mistake: The way Trump just started his speech right now made it abundantly clear: He’s paving the way for a major war with Iran.

  9. Trump also announced his secret health care plan the other day, again, details he claimed in a month. Maybe he intended to try it out first on the rounded up detainees? See what the LD50* rate is before a full rollout on the general population?

When Wealthy Conservatives Bite Back or Mercers Gone Wild!

The Mercers supported Trump aggressively in 2016, donating at least $15.5 million to pro-Trump organizations and $10 million to the far-right and overtly pro-Trump Breitbart News.

Billionaire Robert Mercer used the data mining firm Cambridge Analytica, which he co-founded in 2013, to promote Trump’s campaign — and after Trump won the general election, Rebekah Mercer (Robert Mercer’s daughter) became a senior member his transition team. The Mercers donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration fund.

Another factor in the Mercers’ decision not to support Trump in 2020, according to Sherman’s sources, is Robert Mercer’s reclusive nature. Robert Mercer, allegedly, likes cats more than he likes people, and he believed he sacrificed his privacy because of his support of Trump.

A source close to the Mercers told Sherman, “Bob views all his political spending as a bad investment. This whole thing did not end up well for them.”

RBG hits a dinger over the center field wall.

WASHINGTON — In a decision that could affect associates of President Donald Trump accused of wrongdoing and hoping for pardons, the Supreme Court ruled on Monday that criminal defendants may be prosecuted for the same offenses in both federal and state court. Since Mr. Trump’s pardon power extends only to federal crimes, the ruling leaves people he pardons subject to state prosecutions.

The vote was 7 to 2, with Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Neil Gorsuch each filing dissents.

Writing for the majority, Justice Samuel Alito said there was no good reason to overrule 170 years of precedents allowing separate prosecutions.

The Constitution’s double jeopardy clause generally forbids subsequent prosecutions. But the Supreme Court has made one exception. Saying that the federal government and the states are independent sovereigns, the court has allowed separate prosecutions of the same conduct in state and federal courts.

    Lunargent @15:

I had to go to private browsing to get around the paywall.

I don’t know about Cavanaugh but this is from that link.

The case before the court concerned an Alabama man, Terance Gamble, who was prosecuted by state authorities for possessing a gun after having been convicted of a felony. He was convicted and sentenced to a year in prison.

As the state case moved forward, federal prosecutors charged Gamble with the same conduct. This time, he was sentenced to 46 months, with the two prison terms to run concurrently.

Gamble argued that this violated the double jeopardy clause, but lower courts said the dual prosecutions were permissible under Supreme Court precedents.

    https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/supreme-court/supreme-court-declines-change-double-jeopardy-rule-case-manafort-implications-n1014771

The case attracted more than the usual attention because of the prospect that Trump may pardon Manafort, who was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for violating federal fraud laws. A presidential pardon could free him from federal prison, but it would not protect him from being prosecuted on similar state charges, which were filed by New York. Overturning the rule allowing separate prosecutions for the same offenses would have worked in Manafort’s favor.

Gamble’s lawyer, Louis Chaiten of Cleveland, said the nation’s founders understood the protection against double jeopardy to ban any second prosecution for the same offense. Under English common law, the roots of American law, there was no “separate sovereigns” exception. A person could not be put on trial in England if already tried for the same offense in another country.

This is the time for people to rise up against the tactics of ICE. I’d like to see a phone tree type setup where ICE couldn’t make a move without being tracked. Cars could stall at opportune moments and locations and cell numbers of agents could be made public. I’m for everything short of harassing ICE agent’s families (that’s more of a GOP tactic) but the brown shirts have to be stopped until Democrats get enough power to shut down this agency.
