Half Way There

April 18, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Florida Governor Ron DeSantos opened all Florida beaches last night.

And then he displayed his instructional video on how to properly wear a Facemask.

Republican Governors:  proof that Trumpism is contagious.

I suspect he thought the bottom elastic was to put your feet through.

Be social and share!

Some people criticized Texas for tracking dumb from Dubya to A-butt. Then there’s Floriduh from pRick Scott who could have demonstrated condom usage using his head as the model to duhRon DohSantis using his head demonstrating how not to wear a mask. Meanwhile the ubiquitous ‘they’ have Covidiot* 45 as the model for all things st00pid.

  2. Not that the beach-goers were wearing masks anyway. The news interviewed a bunch of people. Maybe two masks to be seen — and those were hanging below their chins. I guess osmosis was the prevention method being used? All air was passing through the mask then traveling north to the nose and mouth?

And WAY less than 6 feet between one person and the next.

    The stupid, it burns.

I live in Florida. The last time I ventured past my mailbox was March 4th — so stupidity IS NOT contagious no matter how many Floridians try to convince you otherwise, k?

twocrows, Republiconism is similar to the second hand effects of smoking. Their st00pid has an unfair way of effecting all of us. All over the blogosphere there are suggestions of “let them do whatever” to cull the herd. The sympathies are compelling, if only the effects didn’t spread to all of us.

  6. I found the video quite educational & effective.

“Look, here in Florida, we’re so stupid we can’t even dress ourselves in the most basic protective gear against COVID-19. When we’re counting 6 feet apart, or votes, we have a non-numerical based system that works great for us. So come on down, we’re open for business! With our innate inability for self preservation, open, closed, it wouldn’t matter either way!”

Officer Fife – Call of profiling duty: MIAMI

“I Want an Apology”: Black Doctor Who Tests Homeless for Coronavirus Handcuffed by Miami Police

Edit: We speak with Dr. Armen Henderson, an African-American doctor who was handcuffed and detained outside his home Friday as he was wearing a mask and preparing for a volunteer shift to test homeless people for COVID-19.

“I want the officer held accountable. There’s no way that you racially profile me and then you arrest me, detain me, during a pandemic, when you have no mask on, where hundreds of police officers throughout Miami-Dade County have tested positive,” says Dr. Henderson, who is an internal medicine physician, assistant professor of medicine at the University of Miami and an organizer with Dream Defenders.

  13. Off subject but
If this crisis has shown anything it is that broadband internet connections are essential public utilities like water, sewer and other necessary baic infrastructure.
Children with out broadband are being left further behind since they cannot access on line education, research papers, submit assifnments etc.
Applications for unemployment benefits, health care registration, basic government functions such as ID’s-motor vehicle registrations etc are all being moved on line and lack of this basic utility is crippleing a certain segment of the population while granting a hidden subsidy to providers by its increased need.
So much for removing any control for providers as demented donnie’s FCC is trying to push.
Broadband is a necessary public utility Regulate and manage it as such.

Florida reopened some beaches today & they were packed. I guess in a way it makes perfect Florida-sense. To try to get a little sun so you look healthy at your funeral.

  19. And one of demented donnies pet judges just enabled the kansas, home of the infamous phelps westboro baptist church, death cults to continue to spread the virus by ordering that churches can still operate their sunday fundraising excercises and not be constrained by Governors orders, reason, science or even self preservation.
After all whats a few more deaths when measured against being able to fleece the rubes of a few more dollars.

And now Jim Jordan, the guy who white-washed a rapist, and Judge Jeanine Pirro, who’s career in the law was as a glorified traffic court judge, say we should get back to work so the billionaires won’t feel the pinch. That they just got paid to endure.

While millions of families suffer without help.

While hundreds of thousands of doctors, nurses, LPNs, and other healthcare workers stand in mortal peril.

While small business owners in every state are unable to get relief because the money ran out in less than 2 weeks.

Yeah, follow Trump’s plan and end up in the bucket of a backhoe, lowered into a mass grave. Do it today, please.

    OT: Weather warning–
If you live from ~100 west of Houston TX all the way to the Carolinas, you have just gone under a major TS/hail/tornado watch or convective outlook-forecast.
The SPC increases the danger and risk across LA, MS, AL, GA, etc., through today.
Much of this area just had a severe storm/tornado outbreak a week or two ago [100s of tornados]; this looks worse– in the forecast projections. [hmmm, aren’t many of this region’s inhabitants quite judgmental about such disasters being ‘god’s wrath’?]

  24. Jane & PKM @ 3:
    Right you are.
On March 4, I bought >$300 of groceries [but no TP, I’m proud to say.]

Now that Florida is opening up, I live in terror of the day I start running out of food and have to venture out to stock up again. Who knows where all those other people in the store have been, how much distance they’ve kept between themselves and others?

Sure, I COULD use one of those grocery delivery services, but what have THOSE workers been doing over the past weeks? THEY’RE on the front lines, after all, and through no fault of their own.
So which mode is safer for me — and which protects more people? I have no idea.

When Republicans want something, they budget and plan from the best possible case only. When Democrats want something, Republicans automatically assume that the only possible outcome is the worst possible case. When Democrats DO get something they want, Republicans do their best to turn it into the worst possible case and then blame the Democrats for poor planning. Whe Republicans get what they want and it immediately turns to crap, they blame Democrats for sabotage. Screw the Republicans.
