Fun With Guns: Drug Prevention Edition

October 24, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Well, it’s a different approach to the war on drugs —

Chino Elementary School was visited by the drug prevention cops.  They brought along a motorcycle “on display” with a mounted AR-15 rifle on it and that’s where the fun starts.

A student approached the motorcycle and – you guessed it – fiddled with the trigger.

The clean up involved three injured students and no clear explanation of why a motorcycle with a mounted AR-15 discourages drug use and, mostly, don’t cops know what kids do?

She described the weapon as an AR-15 that was locked onto the bike. They were investigating how the weapon discharged and she said “there are several fail-safes in place” to prevent a discharge.

They had not determined how the weapon was fired, she said.

Well, I’m certainly no expert, but it sounds to me like somebody pulled the trigger.

Thanks to Ralph for the heads up.

NO! You really think those little angels would pull a trigger just because it was sitting there? And I’m with you: exactly why does a motorcycle have to have a big fancy gun stuck onto it? Sounds like a fancy plaything for the cycle driver. I always said that if women had wheels, men would be more interested. Maybe women oughta also have a built-in gun somewhere.

Why on earth would they have a loaded & apparently non-safety-set gun at a school? Why are people so stupid???

    And, @Marge,
One of my favorite bumper stickers was this sexist little number one of the (old!) guys at the mower shop had on his truck:

“If it has t$ts or wheels, it will give you problems”

Yeah, I’d like to cause some dadgum problems! *snort*

I suspect the fail safes were there but the little ones know how to free them up.
Even so, what kind of stupidity makes grown men take an assault rifle in for show and tell, and mounted on a motorcycle no less.

Aggieland Liz, my sister-in-law has the other version on her Jeep.
If it has b-lls or wheels , it will cause you problems.

The comments after this story were typical pro vs anti gun folks. Several people insisted all cops carry all weapons with a live round in the chamber. If the cop has time enough to stop his bike, unlock the gun and aim he also has time to chamber a round before killing some innocent victim. I’d say common sense would dictate having an unloaded weapon at a school full of small kids for educational purposes. Unless the cop wanted the kids to know what being shot feels like.

@JPH, it’s twue, it’s TWUE! 😀 she should hang some of those resin things off her hitch bar, then her Jeep would have BOTH!

  8. Didn’t something like this happen not too long ago elsewhere on school property, cop present but oblivious to kids who at very young age touch everything cuz at that stage of development thats how they learn?

Bet thats the last time a cop shows up for show and tell!

  9. Corinne Sabo says:

I thought cops would know enough to unload the darn thing before taking it to a school. Of course, some kid will pull the trigger.

  10. OH FOR HEAVEN’S SAKE!!!!!

This is such a bad idea. When this officer takes a lunch break and leaves his motorcycle in the parking lot, is that AR in the rack then also? Exposed to any knucklehead that happens by? The rack may defy the knucklehead once but when he figures out how the rack works he’ll have that rifle out in 20 seconds the next time he encounters it. Then he’ll be an armed knucklehead.

Proof that grownups can be stupider than small children.

Time and time again…little kids fiddle with things. They don’t have to know how a safety works…how any lock-type thing works…they fiddle with stuff. Will this part move? Will it twist or pull or push? What about this other thing? What happens if you…BANG.

    Sheesh.

  14. A trigger lock for school demos would seem to have been in order. You put it on when you get on site and you remove it when you get back on your bike to leave.

Regardless, serious negligence. Someone’s @ss is in a sling and IA is breathing down their neck.
