First Day of Early Voting in Texas UPDATED!

October 22, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

With your donation to the JuanitaJean PAC, you are an intricate part of this fun. So, I want to show you.

Beto O’Rourke came to Sugar Land, the home of Tom DeLay, and 1,800+ of his best friends showed up to hear him in the ballroom of the fanciest hotel in the county.

The room holds 1,800 and it was overflowing.  He will make 2 more appearances in the county today – in Richmond and in Missouri City.  He’s sharing the stage with two of our prominent candidates – Sri Kulkarni for congress and Brian Middleton for district attorney.  They both will be the first minorities elected in a county that is majority minority.

And to add to the fun, the Republican party chairman sent an odd email today.

The time has come for us to push back on the “Blue Wave” that the #FakeNews has been attempting to cause. We only win this Election when we turn out to vote and ensure our friends, neighbors, and family go vote Republican as well.

We are expecting a huge turnout of voters to cast votes this week. Will you be among them? If so, don’t give up on casting your vote. Fort Bend County voters can vote at any polling location in the county during Early Voting and Election Day.

So if they lose, it’s because the #FakeNews is the enemy of the people?  Nah, we see your president’s tweets. We saw Lindsey Graham’s snot nosed hissy fit over the supremacy of white males.  We heard your president advocate violence against reporters.

And then there’s that “If so, don’t give up on casting your vote.”  So, their people are giving up?

You know why Republicans are red, don’t ya?  They’re embarrassed.

UPDATE:  Check this out!  People camped out to vote in Houston.  Old white men don’t camp out!

Be social and share!

How bad will 2018 be for the snacilbupeR? I’ll grant that ‘honor’ to Donnie as he is busily building his barricade of excuses. In his own word salad: “… it will not be his fault if Republicans lose control of the House in the November midterm election.” And, if the GOP loses the Senate will that be Donnie’s fault? J/K Nothing is ever his fault in his pea soup fog of a ‘good’ brain.

  2. Thank you, JJ, for the explanation!

    Go, Beto!!!

    2
  3. Just remember what LBJ said: Vote early, vote often.

    3
  4. @Paul, I thought Pogo said that?

    4
  5. shouldn’t beto be concentrating his efforts on some of the rural areas of texas? he seems to be playing to hometown fans who are already going to vote for him? anyhow, wishing him success.

  6. Grandma Ada says:

Stood in line 45 minutes to vote this am – totally worth it. The voting location was jammed with people, so was the parking lot and the Kroger lot across the street. Take a book and comfy shoes!

    6
  7. Also:

The time has come for us to push back on the “Blue Wave”

Is the Republican Party chairman familiar with water? Does he know what happens when you push against a wave?

    7
  8. I just got back from voting in Hutto (look it up) and there was a line out the door. There is NEVER a line to vote early in Hutto. It was a bit exciting in the dorkiest way possible. Go Beto!

    8
  9. Fingers crossed (and #Postcardstovoters written) for Texas!

    9
  10. @ bill – There’s value in making an appearance to counter the MAGA people sleeping on the street as if they were homeless or wanting to buy a TV on the day after Thanksgiving.

    10
  11. We have interesting politics in Alaska too. The current Governor, Walker (Independent with a Democrat for Lt. Gov.), dropped out of the race Friday and endorsed the Democrat, Begich. Now everyone who has absentee ballots (like me) is scrambling to change their votes. It has to be done right or the Republicans will be screaming and filing lawsuits if (when) they lose. There is a big meeting this morning in Alaska to figure out how to handle it. Fun times!

  12. Jane & PKM says:

According to one person with knowledge of these talks, Trump has said of Ryan and McConnell: “These are their elections … and if they screw it up, it’s not my fault.”
    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-distances-himself-from-a-potential-gop-thumping/ar-BBOIlpE?ocid=spartanntp

Donnie making life a living hell for ‘itch McConnell in his remaining weeks with the Senate gavel and Lyin’ Ryan as he awaits his ‘retirement’ has a certain slapadural cathartic effect after almost two years of Dotard45 and his maladministration. The rubber stamping whores in both the House and Senate deserve every tramp stamp coming their way.

    12
  13. Impressive pictures in the Chronicle. Vote!Vote! Vote!

    13
  14. Hey, y’all! Why can’t Election Day be a national holiday? Lets figure this out, all the pros and cons and proof you actually voted.

    14
  15. Jane & PKM says:

maggie, we support your suggestion 100%. In the spirit of bi-partisan compromise, we’re willing to exchange 1:1 on holidays so the snacilbupeR conservatives don’t whine about the cost to businesses of a holiday- give us Election Day and remove National Genocide Day (aka Columbus Day). Hell, even move elections to Monday for a 3 day weekend; whatever it takes to GOTV!

Beto, Jacky … let’s vote to benefit TX, NV and our country!

    15
  16. Jane & PKM:

“slapadural cathartic effect” That is one of the loveliest descriptive political phrases I have ever heard. Makes me smile bigly.

I would discourage making election day part of a 3 day weekend. Folks may decide to go out of town and forgo voting. Let’s take a Wednesday off.

“…the Republicans will be screaming and filing lawsuits if (when) they lose..”

Expect this on any close election the thuglicans lose. they did this for Franken’s first term when they prevented him from being seated for what? 3 months or more while they played their games in court.

but now with these paid ideologues having a majority on the supreme court watch every case to be decided on its own ( shades of Gore v. twit) they will decide in favor of the thuglican every time even on opposite reasoning from one case to another. Judicial consitentcy and precedent be damned gangbang brett has given them the whip hand and they intend to use it.

    17
  18. Well, get ready for it. >–|—–|—` –
If there is a BlueWave or Tsunami, the Trump regime and his Republican minions are already possibly planning a very unconstitutional coup-de-etat.
What else would one expect from a vicious would-be Fuerher like RAT45.

  19. Dreamroper says:

I voted early this morning at the City Hall in our little ‘bedroom’ community on the outskirts of San Antonio. It took a little more than an hour for my position in line to make it inside and then another 10 minutes to vote. As I left I noticed the line of people still waiting was longer than when I started an hour before. I drove by again about 2:30 and there was still a line of people waiting. I’m not sure of what that is indicative, but, I’m keeping my fingers crossed as we continue to phone bank this evening.

  20. @Sandridge #19

I don’t think the voters will be amused if this happens. Imagine lots of protesting, angry people…some with guns.

Revolutions in history develop slowly, but happen quickly when the citizenry have had enough (i.e. 1789, The Paris Bread Riots).

    21
  21. Papa @21,
I’ve been urging y’all to be prepared and ready for it for years (at least since RAT45 slimed into our WH, well actually for more than a decade, but not here).
Not sure if my crude graphic comes across:

  22. Papa @21, “(i.e. 1789, The Paris Bread Riots)”

Heck I was writing about developing and marketing consumer-grade guillotines before… just the thing at your local WallyWorld.

    23
  23. The WaPo carried a bit today about employers who are “helping” their employees to get to the polls. As good as that sounds, I would like to hear more, especially if the employer has told them who to vote for.
