February is Donald Trump History Month Because He is More Oppressed Than Anyone. Ever.
Up until I read Donald Trump’s remarks kicking off Black History Month, I did not feel sick like I do now. He spent the whole speech talking about himself and how persecuted he is. The only thing he could say about Dr. Martin Luther King is that he’s “unique” and someone said he took King’s statue out of his office and they were wrong, wrong, wrong. Poor Donald.
He has got to quit whining. I can’t take it. I just can’t. I will pay him twenty dollars cash American money to stop whining for an hour so everybody can catch their breath.
He did offer this tidbit about actual black history:
Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more, I noticed.
He does not know who Frederick Douglass is. He does not. And he thinks Douglass is still alive and is competing for Nielsen ratings.
Holy damn cow, y’all.
The most important part of that sentence is, “I noticed.” Because of course it is.
1Dumber than a rock…I hope I haven’t offended any rocks for saying that.
2The cartoon is sublime. I knew Trump would be stupid and greedy, but I didn’t know he would become a happy puppet of the alt-right. I thought he was just a casual bigot.
Still, what makes me most unhappy is that this didn’t need to happen–we elected Obama and we could have elected Clinton.
If Dems/liberals/progressives would just get out and vote for the most reasonable candidate we would win. Instead we let Dubya have not one, but two terms. We let Repubs sweep the states in 2010 and do some imaginative redistricting and voter suppression. The Trump victory speaks for itself.
What scares me is that 8 years of Dubya didn’t teach Dems this lesson, so I’m not sure that even Trump will be enough. I hope I’m wrong.
3Donnie should be allowed his month, if it’s “put him out of his misery month.”
4Some one have a stake?
5This guy’s intellect is … astounding. How he can go sooo quickly from A to uh A boggles my imagination. Wonder if others feel a pang of guilt when they pick his pocket? Y’know on like the 80th time.
6Jon Stewart hit the nail on the head when he said “The presidency should age the president, not the public.”
7LynnN–I’m feeling less and less like blaming Democrats for whatever we did wrong and more and more like realizing the GOP propaganda machine of “alternative facts” is going to be very, very hard to stop. I’m not at all convinced the Dems did wrong in the election, but I’m downright positive that years and years of alt-facts have done damage that is going to be hard–if not impossible–to undo.
Along those lines, I’ve decided the moniker I will be using for the orange one will be PINO–president in name only–because it’s pretty clear Bannon is running the show. The PINO probably has to let him; after all, it was Bannon’s alt-truth machine that got this idiot elected.
8The biggest thing El Douche has done so far is to teach every American and every leader of every nation on earth, that you cannot believe a single word that comes out of his mouth.
9Case in point, the Queen of England does not want to meet with him when (and if) he visits England. As old as she is, she still knows a d**chebag when she sees one.
Poor little rich boy. The pony was not the one he wanted.
10How about a pity party.?
He’s saying “Frederick” but he’s thinking “Kirk”.
Maroon.
11Truly, he has a dizzying intellect.
12Maryelle, if Trump’s visit actually happens, can Her Majesty come down with a case of “diplomatic flu’? Donnie’s phobic about germs, and presumably that extends to viruses.
13Afro-Americans in Trump’s value system are very minor import. After all there are only two American Black billionaires. Oprah, who has actively opposed him and Michael Jordan who did not wear a make America great again cap. Sad so Sad.
14How ever he did receive the endorsement of the convicted rapist Mike Tyson.
My husband did some research on mental disorders and came up with this one:

Fits tRump to a t.
15Queen Elizabeth II can decline to receive anyone she pleases. She refused to accept Joseph Kennedy when he was selected as the US ambassador to the UK, and she also refused to receive Evita Peron in the ’50’s.
It’s nice to be Queen.
16If Donald didn’t use his Bully Pulpit (TM) to declare the oppression and persecution he has been subjected to (ex wives), how many of us would recognize his anguish and the burden he bears?
17I’m sick of this crap. If you voted for Stein or Sanders, YOU ARE AN IDIOT! Get over yourself and grow up. If anyone was offended by my remarks, then that person is an IDIOT.
18Henry, so sorry that you are feeling so butt hurt. Hope you didn’t injure anything besides your dignity and press on nails with that fall off the high horse into horse plop.
Not that it is any of your business, fwiw both my wife and I did caucus for Senator Sanders, while we voted for Hilz in the general election. We also voted for Senator Cortez Masto down ballot and are basking in the warmth of a blue state.
Yelling “idiot” into the wind won’t help you, unless you want the family to come home for dinner. Want change? Call your Congress critters. Work with your state party. Join in the efforts to fight gerrymandering before the next census. Get involved and work off some stress, man.

Hoyer Statement on Black History Month
WASHINGTON, DC – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement today to mark the beginning of Black History Month:
“As we celebrate Black History Month, we pay tribute to those who fought for freedom and equality, broke down barriers, and contributed to the richness of our nation’s culture. We remember those who risked their lives to escape the horrors of slavery and free others, who defied unjust laws and unjust leaders to send their children to school, who demanded equal treatment in the workplace and our economy, and who marched for equality and opportunity in the face of violent opposition. We celebrate the trailblazers among us today, leaders like my friend Rep. John Lewis and former President Barack Obama, whose places in the pantheon of great Americans are assured.
“This year, we also mark the sixtieth anniversary of the Prayer Pilgrimage for Freedom, a large civil rights rally in Washington at which Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. laid out the case against denying people the right to vote simply because of their race. In his speech, he declared: ‘The denial of this sacred right is a tragic betrayal of the highest mandates of our democratic tradition. And so our most urgent request to the President of the United States and every Member of Congress is to give us the right to vote.’ Today, the right to vote is no longer assured. The Voting Rights Act of 1965 has been dangerously weakened by the Supreme Court, and the Republican-led Congress refuses to work with Democrats to strengthen it once more. The result has been the return of discriminatory laws and practices across many of the jurisdictions in which Dr. King, Rep. Lewis, and others worked so hard to achieve equal access to the ballot box – laws and practices that make it harder for African-Americans and other minorities to participate fully in our democracy.
“In celebrating Black History this month, let us rededicate ourselves to the work of restoring voting rights and securing equal access to justice, jobs, and opportunity for all. As Justice Thurgood Marshall, who first took his seat on the Supreme Court fifty years ago, used to say, ‘Sometimes history takes things into its own hands.’ In 2017, the tide of history has lifted us all to this moment and asks us once again to speak out, lock arms, and march together in demand of the basic rights all Americans deserve. I look forward to continuing to work closely with the Congressional Black Caucus and civil rights organizations to ensure that the arc of Black History continues to bend in the direction of progress, justice, opportunity, and equality.”

20Chloe Bear–Thanks for that; I shared it on Facebook because people need to hear what the Dems are saying while the Pugs are bloviating.
21The icing on the cake, today Pence recognized African American History Month with a shout out to Lincoln, which is only marginally better than their Holocaust Remembrance that didn’t mention Jews.
Ever notice how Presidents age and get grey hair during their time in office? Why is it that this time it’s the public that is greying?
22The Scots describe Dear Leader quite well:

23ARRGGGHHHH !! Thank you. Had to get that out. Mangled apricot hellbeast is incapable of doing anything but whine about mangled apricot hellbeast. His one poor lonely little grey cell just can’t cope so it frequently just shorts out. The Queen won’t receive trump, bet you. And if he does manage to land English crowds throw rotten vegetables, etc. just picture a large rotten, foul smelling cabbage landing right in his mouth. But then mangled apricot hellbeast would probably try to order a nuclear strike on Britain. Please impeach and send far far away.
24djw,
My pleasure. Note, you can go to the Whip page and add your name to the email list.
I love Steney!
25Dumber than cow fart and not even as useful! My apologies to any cows who may be offended in any way by my remark.

You may be off a bit WA,
Joseph Kennedy, Sr., was our UK amb. in 1938-40, then he was basically fired by FDR for having messed up so bad and ticking off the Brits (along with many others, he was sort of a Trump-like asshole).
Joe Jr. was a pilot in the WWII ET and killed on a special mission.
The current British Commonwealth Queen, Elizabeth II, didn’t accede until 1952. I’m far from a monarchist, but she and especially her Husband, Prince Phillip, are pretty cool. Phillip gets pretty outspoken at times, a wicked wit.
27Oh he’s delusional all right. So is my big sister, essentially a kind person, but she’s gotten much worse with age. (Just to be clear, I’m not in the least offended at things said about the Orange Mutant because I have a sister with the same mental illness.)
He’s got more than one diagnosis, which is not uncommon, but his mental health, such as it is, is diminishing with age, also not uncommon. My nonprofessional diagnosis, based on his behavior since his coronation (in his mind only) is that he can now be certified officially Nuking Futz. You can look that up in the DSM because it’s more real than anything in his rapidly deteriorating mind.
28Chloe Bear, thanks for that. I enjoy voting for Steny and you reminded me why.
Sandridge: Philip has a “wicked wit”? What have you read? This is a guy who tells a Nigerian ambassador in traditional robes, “You look like you’re ready for bed!” and asks a Scottish driving instructor, “How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to take the test?” He’s a prime example of the notion that if you have enough money you can say any damn thing that bounces from your brain to your mouth without going through any filters at all.
