CBO on Repeal Vote: 18 Million Lose Insurance, Premiums to Double

January 17, 2017 By: El Jefe Category: Congress, Sumbitches

In a report that Cheeto Jesus and healthcare opponents will HATE, the Congressional Budget Office reported that if he and the Congress go ahead with their repeal vote that 18 million people will lose health insurance next year, and the premiums for everyone else would double over 10 years.

Happy New Year, ya’ll, and welcome to the new world of single party rule.  Washington, DC becomes Austin.  Ya’ll buckle up, now – Hold my beer, watch this!

Well, that makes no more sense then repealing the ACA does. LOL

  2. So a perfectly good, or at least recyclable for parts, large machine is launched into space and destroys some trees when it lands and becomes useless. snacilbupeR thought this up, right?

Succumbing to the pointless spectacle for a moment: how come it didn’t burst into flames? Preferably while in mid-air.

  3. Seriously, I wager that this repeal/replace thing is going to go up in flames in a hurry with a helluva lot of bad feelings betwixt the Rs and absolutely nothing accomplished except the production of a very bad vaudeville show! My son has been in and out of short-term jobs for ages now and because of his net “income” could qualify for ACA coverage but something told the both of us that he shouldn’t even try to apply and let those worse off have the front of the line. This means I paid for his private insurance out of my take home pay. Its tough making ends meet like that but it looks as if he won’t have the worry that so many millions of other Americans will be cursed with.

The car over the cliff? Just another summer day’s entertainment in Sutton, Alaska, alongside the beautiful Matanuska River.

What is scarier, just up the road in Sutton, is a sprawling tactical training area used by militia wanna-bes clad in camo and carrying enough firepower to level the trees. What exactly are they training for?

    Welcome to Donald Trump’s Amerikka.

Rolling out the ACA took time. Rolling it up would take even more time. However, for the snacilbupeR to arrive at the logical conclusion and fix the ACA is going into their 9th year.

Donnie likes taking credit for everything. Democrats, write the changes for the ACA, slip them to Donnie and try not to gag as he takes his bows. It’ll be worth it to watch Mikey Pence and Lyin’ Ryan keel over. We can keel haul Donnie later.

It gets worse. The Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act of 1986 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency_Medical_Treatment_and_Active_Labor_Act has details) applies to “participating hospitals”, i.e. those who accept payment from Medicare, so basically everyone. The ER has to evaluate ANYONE who shows up, regardless of insurance status, and treat anyone who is in labor or has an emergency medical condition, or, if they don’t have capability of doing so, transferring to another hospital.

Our university medical center is the big level 1 trauma center, and was also for a long time the provider of services for the county, prior to ACA. At one point the county owed our hospital over $100 million because of unpaid care of uninsured people, that exceeded the county’s budget. Who do you think covers those costs? Negotiated costs for insurance companies went up to deal with this, so costs to people buying insurance went up. It’s not like a state university can go out of business, or just decide not to pay the doctors, the nurses, the other staff, the utility companies that keep lights and heat on, or the medical suppliers.

They only burst into flames when a Hollywood special effects team packs them with bags of gasoline.
Makes me think back to the show CHiPs. Every week a car would veer off the road onto an apparently ubiquitous ramp shaped object and fly through the air.
    Good times.
The same republicans cheering as this car goes off the cliff will be cheering when the ACA does the same thing. The only problem for them is, they are in the car representing the ACA.

TrulyTexan: yeah, it’s amazing how many camouflaged ramp shaped objects are scattered around the Southern California freeway system — usually right at an overpass.

Kinda makes me wonder what the freeway designers were thinking.

  9. I understand that hundreds of small rural hospitals will go broke with the snacilbupeR repeal. Lyin Ryan and his brutal cohorts are angry with Their pres-elect saying that he has something to immediately replace it with. Yes, 70 yo Toddler said “immediately.” Have fun with your majority and pre-pubescent.
