In October of 2021 top US intelligence officials sent a Top Secret cable to all CIA stations around the world warning that an alarming number of agents (informants) were being killed, captured, or compromised.  This unusual warning was sent after the loss of dozens of agents around the world that sharply increased over the last several years, and correspond to the time TFG infested the Oval Office and since. What we didn’t know then, but do now is that he stole thousands of government documents, including Top Secret, Classified, Secret, and Confidential documents.  Some of these documents were marked “HCS”, meaning Human Intelligence Control System, which identifies that this particular intelligence was gathered from clandestine agents in foreign countries.  Worse, over 40 EMPTY classified intelligence folders were found in Trump’s personal office.

It gives me cold chills to think about where those documents ended up, especially in light of last October’s CIA cable and the thousands of documents that had been completely unsecured for over a year and a half.  It’s very likely these documents ended up in enemy hands; it’s not a long leap to imagine that these documents were then used to find and kill or capture clandestine agents working for the US, and that’s the scary part of this whole sordid chapter.  TFG, through his corruption, malignant narcissism, and his negligent disregard for the rule of law is the greatest threat to the US since the Civil War.

Russian state media is laughing at the US, saying that the files in TFG’s basement contain information about new nuclear weapons, and that they’ve already seen them.  Let that sink in.

In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, Democrats have desperately tried to get vote by mail passed in states that don’t have it in time for the November presidential election.  It’s a non-starter with Republicans lead by Trump.  At the same time, the Postal Service is losing $2 billion per month with reduced volumes of mail.  Democrats tried to put a $15 billion bailout in the relief bill, but Trump threatened to veto the entire multi-trillion dollar bill if it included any money for the Post Office.  The bill finally got passed with a $10 billion loan, by Mnuchin is holding it up in Treasury, and Trump fired the IG assigned to oversee the distribution of funds from the relief bill last week.

Republicans have been trying to kill the US Postal Service for decades, trying to privatize it and hand it over to some of their largest donors.  In 2006, the Republican controlled Congress passed a law that required the Postal Service prefund 75 YEARS of anticipated pensions, totaling $72 billion.  They then diverted that money to paying down federal debt caused by GWB’s slashing tax cuts.  Even though the Postal Service is no longer a full federal agency the Congress still controls its budget, continuously starving it for funding.

Even as the COVID-19 pandemic has caused mail volume to plummet,  Republicans, lead by Trump, have stonewalled any support to keep the service alive, and without funding, it will run out of cash in September.  At the same time, Democrats are trying to introduce voting reforms that allow vote by mail for the November elections.  Of course, Republicans are also stonewalling that.  About 20 states already allow voting by mail.  Why in the world would Republicans want to kill the Postal Service?  That answer is now crystal clear – no Post Office?  No voting by mail.  Trump’s plummet in the polls can be offset by making it almost impossible to vote during the pandemic.

Yep, Republicans figured out many years ago that reducing turnout through voter suppression, as well as radical gerrymandering, improves their chances of hanging on to power.  This effort is that strategy on steroids actually taking away Americans’ Constitutional right to vote.

George Conway teamed up with Neal Katyal yesterday to opine on Trump’s latest outrage of holding up aid to Ukraine as inducement to dig dirt on Joe Biden.  Katyal was solicitor general in the Obama administration.  It’s become obvious now that the whistleblower case that Bill Barr is covering up is a blatant incident of Trump violating the Constitution and US law to induce a foreign power to assist him in defeating a domestic political opponent.  Another weekend must-read, this one is powerful.

So, the RNC is now so corrupted by Trump’s control that it is now using donor dollars to pay lawyers to obstruct justice by interfering with Congressional investigations.  That’s right, Teabaggers – your money is being used to violate your precious Constitution into order to protect your spray painted tribal chief.  Along with that, WH lawyers paid with your taxes are also actively helping Trump violate his duty to protect and defend the Constitution in order to hide his crimes from the Congress.

During Hope Hicks non-testimony testimony this week in a closed door session with the House Judiciary Committee, US government paid lawyers objected to every question from the committee, even including her office location in the West Wing.  Trump’s lawyer, Pat Cipollone, even told Congress that Hicks has “absolute immunity” from testifying before Congress, a legal condition that simply doesn’t exist and is being laughed at by legal and ethics experts.  Clearly, Trump believes the courts are so packed with corrupt radicals that they’ll rule in his favor.  I don’t believe that when it goes there, SCOTUS (even with its corrupt justices like Alito, Thomas, Kavanaugh, Gorsuch) won’t go there.  John Roberts may be a conservative and somewhat corrupted, he is still  true to the Constitution and will rule correctly.

I predict this one won’t end well for Ms. Hicks, and in the end, she’ll pay dearly for her silence and her loyalty to Trump.

To any objective observer, Dinesh D’Souza is a lying shitbag.  He’s famous for his lie-filled films like “Obama’s America” and “Hillary’s America” where he turns logic on its head peddling wild stories about everyone with whom he politically disagrees.  Debunking his bullshit is virtually a full time job for Media Matters. He spins wild conspiracy theories; for example, his book, The Enemy at Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11 blamed Democrats for the 9/11 attacks.  One of his most famous volumes was The Roots of Obama’s Rage where he fabricated the argument that Obama “was carrying out the anticolonial agenda of his Kenyan father”, whatever the hell that means.  Newt Gingrich often quotes D’Souza especially when repeating his birther lies.  On top of that, D’Souza was fired from a Christian college for making unwanted advances on a woman (not his wife).  And to add felony to lies, D’Souza was convicted of violating federal campaign finance laws by using straw donors to make illegal contributions to Wendy Long, famous in New York for losing to both Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer.  He got a light sentence of a $30,000 fine and 5 years probation.  He’s pretty much among the worst of the worst lie and conspiracy theory spinners, spewing toxic lies by turning history on its head with his down is up, left is right, and the sun rises in the west logic.

So, like criminal Joe Arpaio, he was the perfect candidate for a Trump pardon.  The goofy part of the story? Unfortunately, you have to stoop to reading the Daily Caller to get the goofiness.  The pardon request was made by none other than Trump enemy, Ted Cruz.  That’s right, the National Embarrassment of Texas successfully drove the campaign to get another famous liar off scott free.

Not only is the hole getting deeper, it’s getting weirder.
