The REALLY Scary Part…

September 04, 2022 By: El Jefe Category: Classified Documents, Sedition, Trump, unprecedented

In October of 2021 top US intelligence officials sent a Top Secret cable to all CIA stations around the world warning that an alarming number of agents (informants) were being killed, captured, or compromised.  This unusual warning was sent after the loss of dozens of agents around the world that sharply increased over the last several years, and correspond to the time TFG infested the Oval Office and since. What we didn’t know then, but do now is that he stole thousands of government documents, including Top Secret, Classified, Secret, and Confidential documents.  Some of these documents were marked “HCS”, meaning Human Intelligence Control System, which identifies that this particular intelligence was gathered from clandestine agents in foreign countries.  Worse, over 40 EMPTY classified intelligence folders were found in Trump’s personal office.

It gives me cold chills to think about where those documents ended up, especially in light of last October’s CIA cable and the thousands of documents that had been completely unsecured for over a year and a half.  It’s very likely these documents ended up in enemy hands; it’s not a long leap to imagine that these documents were then used to find and kill or capture clandestine agents working for the US, and that’s the scary part of this whole sordid chapter.  TFG, through his corruption, malignant narcissism, and his negligent disregard for the rule of law is the greatest threat to the US since the Civil War.

  1. Anyone in Russia mentioning Putin’s preference for Trump to the CIA probably got doxxed by Trump.

  2. A few days ago Feds searched a Russian oligarch’s apartment. What do you suppose they were looking for? Contents from the empty folders maybe? Trump and his minions have been channeling stuff to the Russians for years. I am certain of it. THEY. SHOULD. ALL. GO. TO. JAIL.

  3. I don’t know what happened to my comment. (I had an iffy modem that I just changed out for a new one, so . . .)

The problem, as I see it, is that the CIA doesn’t want any details to leak out to the public. No names, places, other specifics. That would pretty much put an end to any trial charging somebody (TFG) with espionage and/or treason.

Another problem is that TFG is old and probably won’t live long enough for justice to take its course. We probably will never see him behind bars.

  4. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s been cultivated as a Russian asset for decades. That’s the kind of long-term plans that they make.

It’s also not a long leap to imagine trumpf getting compensated for those documents going to Putin, Iran, etc. we know trumpf only does stuff for money (plus revenge), and he never has enough money.

RE: #4– Fits in a pattern?

On 9-3 reports were about how Lindsay Graham took $800,000 in “campaign donations” from one of Putin’s Russian oligarchs.

But reports of Russian money pouring into the GQP go back years.

RE #6 “View a scent” should be “View a scene.” Though now that I think of it, both variations work. 🙂

Spot on, El Jefe. I have vanishingly small doubt that Trump either sold or traded all sorts of classified documents, either to help his friends or reduce his debt. He doesn’t do anything unless he personally can gain from it. That he is unlikely to spend the rest of his life–any of his life, actually–behind bars is disgraceful.

  9. Comments above remind me of my first thought at the passports being in drawer with classified files…”Oh he must have been planning a trip for selling those files.”

  10. The intelligence community had little reason to trust TFG after all the ways he dissed them. Many times Trump showed them he was unwilling and/or incapable of protecting the national interests and secrets: The 2017 closed door meetings with the Russians, followed by the firing of Comey, the outing of Valerie Plame, surely put the agencies on high alert. After that, how could he be trusted with anything more than a roll of toilet paper? Why in hell would the agencies give him anything in his briefings that was too sensitive, or too much about Putin or Russia?

Perhaps they filled it with what he was interested in reading about: sordid tabloid tales of world leaders cheating on their spouses, or what were their “secret opinions” about Trump were. Hopefully some of the information he would’ve gotten, would have been incomplete, somewhat misleading, outdated, or outright false information to feed whoever he was sharing it with. I’ve read my share of Le Carre novels, but I was never in the intel business.

Of course, the IC protects some of the most sensitive human assets, secrets and the national interest. They surely may have done this, when they realized TFG was a potential security leak the size of a tsunami.

Now we can retire the name Benedict Arnold and put DJT up in flaming letters. I wish him a stroke and a nice long time in diapers.

  12. WA Skeptic @ 11,

I prefer he die in prison like Bernie Madoff. I hate the idea he’d get free long-term health care paid for by we, the tax payers. And a criminal, traitor like him, should never be buried in Arlington or any national cemetery.

My fellow Salon customers WA Skeptic and Papa,
I couldn’t agree more with your comments. As for
my personal wish: I want to live long enough to
piss on his grave. Getting pretty long in the tooth
so I wish “something” quick, yet painful and
conclusive happens to him soon. Then we could
    finally stop hearing his name.

amazingly & productively obsessive emptywheel noted one additional, awful detail from what was on the inventories of the most recent tranche of documents from Mardi Lardo. She noted Trump’s “process” of co-mingling whatever came to hand into a box, then starting on a new box and doing more. And then:

“That makes something revealed in the more detailed inventory released yesterday more alarming.

None of the boxes seized by the FBI include press clippings that postdate November 2020.”

read the whole thing at https://www.emptywheel.net/2022/09/03/the-fbi-seized-no-boxes-with-press-clippings-that-postdate-november-2020/

I’d bet that does NOT indicate a new approach to “work” by Trump. Instead, we then wonder if those newest boxes were actually sent to the National Archives, as everything SHOULD have been. Or if they were on a different truckload of boxes that went somewhere other than Florida. I can’t think of another option.
