I Quit / You’re Fired / No, I Quit / Yeah, After I Fired You

Okay, to be honest, I am not comfortable with the military running my government, even if the keys to our survival are in the hands of a raving lunatic with an itchy self-gratification finger.

However, at least General John Kelly did one good thing.

It made me giggle when I heard that Kelly revoked Sebastian Gorka’s security clearance while he was on vacation.  It’s pretty funny that Gorka thought it was safe to take a vacation while sitting in a snake pit.

The conservative web site The Federalist reported on Friday that Gorka resigned with a scathing letter accusing “forces” in the White House of working against Trump’s agenda. However, a White House official told Yahoo News that Gorka did not leave of his own accord.

“Sebastian Gorka did not resign, but I can confirm he no longer works at the White House,” the official said.

According to the Washington Examiner’s Sarah Westwood, Gorka said it was “disappointing” that the White House said he was fired, because “I resigned.”

A source with knowledge of the situation said Gorka did indeed resign—but only after being informed on Friday by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly that his security clearance had been revoked, which would have made it impossible for him to continue in his White House job.

Good rule of thumb:  if they take away your keys to the building, it’s too late to resign.

About the generals:  I remember Al Haig.  Those guys scare me.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

God, Forgive Us

This is going to break your damn heart. A mess of people who are undocumented workers in the coastal bend are refusing to go to shelters or get on the bus to higher ground because they fear it is an ICE ruse. Oh dear God. People are going to die. And Trump pardons Joe Arpaio.

They are keeping open the in-land checkpoints at Sarita and Falfurrias.  What kind of monsters have we become?

Because Houston Isn’t Freaked Out Enough Already

This happened yesterday morning in Houston …

WARNING!  Turn off the sound because there’s some really bad language.  Once you watch it, you’ll understand why.

Hurricanes make people crazy.

Keeping Score

According to the folks over at Twitter on a thread started by Chris Cillizza, Trump has attacked 21% of the Republican Senators by name.

Here’s the list —

  1. Mitch McConnell (Kentucky)
  2. Bob Corker (Tennessee)
  3. Lindsey Graham (South Carolina)
  4. John McCain (Arizona)
  5. Ben Sasse (Nebrska)
  6. Ted Cruz (Texas)
  7. Rand Paul (Kentucky)
  8. Marco Rubio (Florida)
  9. Dean Heller (Nevada)
  10. Jeff Flake (Arizona)
  11. Lisa Murkowski (Alaska)

Some folks say that means he has attacked far more Republican senators by name than Democratic senators.

I’m sure this list isn’t finished.  But don’t worry, sooner or later, he’ll get to you.  There is no limit to hs total disgust of the human race.

Weather Update

August 25, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, it’s about 9:00 am on Monday Friday.  We are fully prepared and staying put.  We were in Victoria yesterday and many of our friends were under mandatory evacuation.

As El Jefe told you, what were are expecting in the Houston area is rain and bucket loads of it.  The good news is that the Brazos River is low now and can handle a lot of rain.  The bad news is that rivers have limits.

If you want to follow the weather news in the Houston area, I agree with El Jefe on Space City Weather.

I live in Richmond, which is 35 miles southwest of Houston, between Rosenberg and Sugar Land.  We live in a two story home and have access to the roof.

It appears that the worse will be flooding, with rain starting Sunday for us.

I’ll update here when I can!  Thanks for your good thoughts.  We’ll be fine.

Two Things That Make Me Fret

August 24, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Thing 1:  you wake up in the morning to see that Big Jim Cantore is standing on your local beach.

Thing 2:  See Thing 1 and realize that Trump has not appointed a head of FEMA or Emergency Management, but I hear he did call Chuck Woolery to see if he had time to do it between his reverse mortgage and catheter commercials. So there’s that.

I’m sure we’ll be fine here on the banks of the Brazos River, but starting today we will be busy.  Our grocery stores have turned in zoos, there is not a battery or bottled water to be found, or a generator left within a 100 mile area.

On top of that, Bubba and I have a political event in Victoria, Texas, today that has not been cancelled. Since both Primo and El Jefe are out of the area right now, I’m turning this joint over to them at least for today.

Enjoy and I will check in when I can.  Again, we will be fine.
