Weekend Fun

October 29, 2017 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

The weekend in Nashville, Tennessee, a group held a rally protesting a statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest.  The statue is on private land but is on the interstate highway and can’t be avoided.  It is damn ugly.

The statue was designed by the founder of the The League of the South, a white nationalist organization, and is a grotesque work of art 25 feet in height.  The owner of the statue, Bill Dorris, says the statue is not racist and calls slavery a form of “social security” for African Americans

Okay, I think people have the right to put whatever they want on their property.  I’m saying this as a woman whose husband put a professionally designed 25 foot banner in front of our house in a very Republican neighborhood when Barack Obama was elected president.  Both times.

I also understand why someone would want to protest something this racist and this damn ugly.  Honey, this thing is so damn ugly that just walking by it will make your clothes wrinkle.

But, liberals just don’t know how to do this stuff.  This is a rare case where there’s a more productive solution.  How ’bout protesting with signs that say Nathan Bedford Forrest honest-to-God was really that ugly and was probably some kind of space alien on cocaine but white people love him even though he obviously did not have one pure gene in his body.  And we need to honor deformed horses in Tennessee, by gawd.

But, I need to show you how it’s being protested by a man who is obviously after my own heart and means oh so well, but ends up being … huh?

You can see the big one here.

Ok, I get that you welcome African Americans, people from Mexico, gays, Jews, Christians and transexuals.  You don’t welcome the Klan, Nazis, confederates, statues to Nathan Bedford Forrest, and … Tom Brady?

Tom Brady?

Really?  It’s kinda like, “Oh hell, while we’re at it, Tom Brady can go screw himself.”

Peasant Hunting

Oh yeah, this really happened.  Greatest Twitter ever.

Yes, they were out shooting peasants.

Louie Gohmert, who was along with them for the peasant shooting, commented on Trump, Jr. …

“Guy’s a great shot — he knows what he’s doing, he knows ammunition, he knows weapons, and I’m very impressed.”

Other things Junior knows all about: collusion and treason.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up.

First Call

It’s the middle of a baseball game so you know as much as I know.

A federal grand jury in Washington on Friday approved the first charges in the investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to sources briefed on the matter.

The charges are still sealed under orders from a federal judge. Plans were prepared Friday for anyone charged to be taken into custody as soon as Monday, the sources said. It is unclear what the charges are.

A spokesman for the special counsel’s office declined to comment.

Mueller was appointed in May to lead the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election.

Somebody Give This Guy a Straitjacket and a Butterfly Net

Remember Michael Grimm, the Bronx Republican congressman who just got released from prison with a conviction of 20 counts of fraud, tax evasion, and perjury?  Plus, he threatened to push a reporter off a balcony, but didn’t even get in trouble for that?

Well, he’s back.

Bless his heart, he didn’t even get  chance to wipe the prison mud off his freshly shined shoes before he announced that he’s running for congress again.

He doesn’t have Sarah Palin’s or Chris Christie’s endorsement this time.  But, he’s got this … Steve Bannon.  In an interview this month, Grimm made it clear who is mentoring him.

Bannon, he added, thought he was a populist — and surely if anyone would know, it’d be him. “He basically said that he wants to support me, he likes that I’m straightforward. I think that he said I’m a fire-breathing populist or something like that.” And it doesn’t help that his understanding of his own policy positions is, at best, shaky.

To their credit, his Republican colleagues aren’t real happy about him running again, or the possibility of him returning to congress.  They say he’s “a loud-mouthed punk.”  I guess he’s kinda like a wise guy version of Ted Cruz.

To show you how serious he is about running on Trump’s coattails, he was willing to admit that he’s lost all depth perception and sense of reality.  Describing his first meeting with Trump, Grimm relates …

“I remember saying to myself, I never realized what a large man — I mean stature-wise, he’s a big man, with massive hands. I don’t have small hands, but when I shook hands with him, the first time I shook hands with him, I realized he was a big man.”

With a big butt and Grimm’s got his nose stuck up it.

What’s The Deal Here?

After announcing that he was not stopping the release of the Kennedy Assassination files, Trump backed down and kept 300 of the files secret.

Those were the 300 files that prove Ted Cruz’s dad killed Kennedy.

Yeah, Jan, We Hear You

Remember Jan Brewer?  That vicious old crazy woman in Arizona who shook her finger in the President’s face?

Well, she up and decided that she wants to talk about Jeff Flake.

“Politics is not for sissies,” she explains.

Yeah, Jan, but it’s not for venomous, catty old bitties either.
