Debate

January 14, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, I’ve watched 45 minutes of the debate and I can tell you one damn thing — I could happily support any one of those candidates over Donald Trump.

I am also impressed with CNN for keeping this roadshow on track and running.  And the candidates for staying on message.

Rick Perry Fans – Mark Your Calendar

January 14, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

It’s been set for a date.

The Energy Department on Monday agreed to begin releasing a cache of Ukraine-related records, including former Energy Secretary Rick Perry’s communications with high-level Ukrainian officials.

Mark your calendar!

Tuesday, January 28 – documents will include records relating to the presidential delegation Perry led to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s inauguration last May. This one will probably involve begging and the word bullshit several times.

Tuesday, February 4 – Another package of documents, focused in part on Perry’s and McCormack’s communications with Giuliani. Oh, yummy!

Monday, March 16 – described only as “a third cache of Ukraine-related documents.”  This is probably the good stuff.

Somebody please hide Rick’s passport. Now that he’s got those fake Superman glasses, he’s ready to make a quick getaway.

Please Let It Be

Senator Tim Kaine says that he may have as many as a dozen Republican votes to support his attempt to “curtail President Trump’s ability to go to war with Iran, thanks to the reportedly disastrous security briefing Secretary of State Mike Pompeo gave legislators last week.”

Kaine says it may be more. Utah Republican Senator Mike Lee thinks it’s more like 7 votes. We only need four, or more likely 5 because nobody wants to be left depending on Susan Collins, who has become Lucy with a football when it comes to doing the right thing.

By the way, after hearing about Pompeo’s secret briefing, I understand why there’s no press conferences any more.  There’s no Sean Spicer who’s willing to lie and take the fall for looking like a damnfool.  That’s what it has come to.

If This Isn’t True, It Should Be

AlterNet says that some pranksters posted this sign at their local military enlistment center.

The tag line reminded me of something.  Trump likes to says that the people he kills die “like cowards.”

Well, there’s this.  After saying he looks forward to a fair trial and complete vindication, Trump is now saying he wants the Senate to vote to dismiss the impeachment the minute they get it.  No hearing, no opening statements, no diddle squat.  That.  That right there. That’s a coward.

Thanks to everybody for the heads up on the poster.

Paul Chabot Is Still Going To Hell

January 14, 2020 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Back a couple of years ago, I told you about a guy named Paul Chabot, who recently moved from California to Texas because he kept losing political races in California.  Then he came up with a bright idea. Get conservative Californians to move to Texas to keep Texas red.  Okay, maybe “bright idea” isn’t exactly the term I’m looking for.

Chabot opened a SuperPAC called Keep Texas Red.

So, instead of bright idea, perhaps I should say money making project. Read all about it here.

Through the miracle of modern journalism, a guy named Ron was searching for information about a name he saw in the local newspaper.  Sure ‘nuf, he ended up at the beauty salon and was kind enough to match the two together and send it to me.

Paul Chabot has a new money-making project going. This one involves your money.

The FreeStyle Foundation in McKinney, a national nonprofit that supports substance-free living, received $625,000 in federal grants from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, according to a Jan. 13 news release from Sen. John Cornyn’s office.

In addition, the nonprofit’s local branch, The Coalition for McKinney Drug Free Youth, received $1 million from the Texas Department of Health and Human Services.

Now, if you look at Chabot Strategies and then at The FreeStyle Foundation, you’ll discover that they have homemade websites that are clearly at least first cousins.  Chabot Strategies is located at Keller-Williams Realty (that was back when he was trying to sell houses to Californians) and The FreeStyle Foundation is a post office box storefront less than three miles away.

It’s just one easy slide from using politics to sell houses to using political connections to sell scams with taxpayers dollars.

Chabot said the coalition will be advocating for a local Social Host Ordinance. This ordinance would hold party hosts liable for knowingly providing alcohol to minors on their property.

With this ordinance in place, parents and property owners would be discouraged from allowing minors to consume alcohol on their properties, Chabot said.

There are already laws against giving alcohol to minors so his job shouldn’t be, you know, all that hard.  I dunno ’bout you but I’d rather go with a law than an ordinance.

So thanks to John Cornyn for pissing away $1.6 million of taxpayer money.

Thanks to Ron for the heads up.
