So Here’s Why People Are Panicking A Little

Okay, first off, Trump ordered federal health officials to go dark and to hold all their meetings as classified.  Reuters says this is “an unusual step that has restricted information and hampered the U.S. government’s response to the contagion, according to four Trump administration officials”

Hell, he already stopped press conferences so only he can speak to the public.  Now he’s cutting us off from the experts who can tell us what they know using information they didn’t genetically inherit from their uncle.

And then to show why we need that information, it was discovered today that Congressvarmint Matt Gaetz and Mark Meadows, the latest in a long line of not-the-best-people Chief of Staff, got tested for the Coronavirus when other people were told the test weren’t available.

The two lawmakers also said they were exhibiting no symptoms of respiratory illness, raising questions of why they were tested at all.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that health-care providers prioritize tests for hospitalized patients who are exhibiting coronavirus symptoms, elderly and medically fragile individuals, along with others who have shown signs of illness after contact with a known or suspected coronavirus patient.

Yeah, and Gaetz was the one making fun of the virus by wearing a gas mask to congress.  Rumor has it that he took the test from his 75 year old grandmother with a hacking cough and a fever.  ‘Cuz he’s just that kind of guy.

Well, Well, Well, That Was Easy

All it takes is for Bloomberg to threaten to spend a billion dollars to investigate the Trump kids, and this happens

Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) cancelled a vote scheduled for Wednesday afternoon on a subpoena stemming from his months-long probe into Hunter Biden and Burisma Holdings.

So Bloomberg has found a niche.  I was kinda hoping he’d buy Fox News and hold Sean Hannity to the no compete contract.

Numbers Are Hard

Texas congressman Mike McCaul, a very pretty man with Rick Perry hair, married the daughter of the Clear Channel Communications owner and suddenly gained 50 IQ points in his own head.

McCaul is fine if you don’t get him off script. He is always fully scripted, and combed. Well, except for this morning when he was talking about Coronavirus.

“I don’t think it’s time to panic,” he insisted. “The risk is still low. To put it in perspective, we had 350 million cases of the flu this year alone in the United States and somewhere between 20,000 to 50,000 deaths.”

Oh My God! We had 350 million cases of the flu right here in the old ole US of A?

That right there alone is a damn good reason to panic.  The Census Bureau estimates the population of America to be 329 million, so if 350 million of them got flu, we have broken arithmetic. Don’t even think about fractions, double digit subtraction where you have to borrow twice, calculus, algebra, or the backwards countdown before you yell Blast Off! We broke it, apparently with the flu. The fact that we haven’t heard about is a giant faux media activity.

Heads Up: This Is Good News

We may get to see Mueller’s papers after all.

A federal appeals court in Washington ruled on Tuesday that the Department of Justice must hand over grand jury materials from Robert Mueller’s special counsel investigation to Congress.

It was a 2-1 decision.  Guess who said no.

Judge Thomas Griffith, who was appointed by former President George W. Bush, concurred with Rogers, a Clinton appointee. The lone dissenter, Judge Neomi Rao, was appointed by President Trump.

Rao is a life long member of the Federalist Society, indoctrinated by the Koch Brothers, and holds very extreme views on the role of government.  Sadly, she is only 46 years old so she will be around for a long while.
