The Best Man For The Job is a Woman

October 13, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

It is absolutely no secret that Juanita Jean and her entire staff support Elizabeth Warren for Senator in Massachusetts.  It’s no secret because there’s a  sign the size of Lubbock across the front of the beauty salon saying so.

We think women are, for the most part, smarter than men.  And we would like to thank Elizabeth Warren’s Republican opponent Scott Brown for agreeing with us.

Against ALL odds? Really, Scott?

A Democratic group has unearthed a bit of inspirational autobiography on Senator Scott Brown’s official website that was lifted verbatim from Elizabeth Dole’s site, language that originated in a campaign speech.

In a message to students, the Massachusetts senator uses the exact words as remarks delivered by the former North Carolina senator at her campaign kickoff in 2002.

Brown’s staff acknowledged yesterday the words originally were Dole’s and said their presence in Brown’s message was the result of a technical error.

Uh huh, technical error.  Yeah, the technical error that they got freekin’ caught.

Scott Brown proved that if you’re gonna steal ideas, you’re better off stealing from a hooter toter because we have better ideas.  Even Elizabeth Dole.

Thanks to Kellybee for the heads-up.

Turn Out The Lights

I’ve come to believe that Anita Perry is as repulsed by Rick Perry as I am.

Now, I’m not saying she doesn’t have every reason to be.  Best I can figure Rick Perry probably showers with his laser sited .380 Ruger just in case that creepy guy from Psycho shows up.  Or a doddle bug wanders in just asking for a fight.  I mean, cleaning Rick’s misfires off the walls has to be a burden.

And you know there’s mornings at the breakfast table where she wants to push his grapefruit right into his face and holler, “Quit moving your lips and pointing at the words when you read the newspaper, dammit.”  Bless her heart, the poor woman only has one nerve left and Rick’s obviously getting all over it.

So, in the passive-aggressive way that some Texas women have honed to an art form, she goes out and says stuff like him needing to improve his debating and that he’ll be “better prepared next time,”  making him seem like a first grader who failed a spelling test.  She might as well open her purse and show everybody that his winkie is in there.

She has to be passive-aggressive about this because her husband’s political backers gift wrap the paycheck for her $60,000 a year “job.”

But, with a sweet little smile on her face, I think she pretty much kneed him in the groin this time.

She gave a speech at the Conservative Club, and knowing she was being filmed, said this of her husband:

ANITA PERRY: He knows how to create jobs…We have 1,500 people moving to Texas every day to find a job. I’m not going to tell you they’re all high-paying jobs, but they’re a job, even if they’re a minimum wage job. And that’s what people are hungry for.

Honey, you cannot afford to eat on a minimum wage job.  Except maybe cake.

So here’s Anita Perry, living in a $10,000 taxpayer financed mansion, wearing a $1,500 suit, carrying a purse that costs more than leukemia treatment and enough Estee Lauder moisturizer  to tan a herd of cowhide, telling rich  people that the rest of us are hungry – starving even – for her husband’s minimum wage jobs.

Well done, Anita, well done.  Go on, Girl, show them again what’s in your purse.

I Wish I Could Make This Stuff Up

October 12, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

If I could make up stuff like this, I could be a famous fiction writer.  The downside is that nobody would believe it.

Tennessee State Rep. Curry Todd (R, of freekin’ course) was pulled over around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday night, driving double drunk.

YeeHaw Republican Handgun Maven Curry Todd

But that’s not all.

There was a loaded .38 in the front seat with him.  The upside is that there was no male prostitute in the front seat.  The downside is —

Todd sponsored a 2009 bill to allow people with handgun carry permits to bring their weapons into bars and restaurants that serve alcohol, provided they don’t drink. The law passed despite opposition from law enforcement and district attorney groups, and easily survived a veto from former Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen.

And there’s even more  —–

Todd, the chairman of the House State and Local Government Committee, is known for flashes of a quick temper.

So the angry guy who insists that people need weapons in bars gets double drunk and drives around with a loaded .38 beside him.  I’d say he’s running out of room on the dance floor, but this is Tennessee, where that’ll be legal after the next session.

When You’re Dumber Than Michele Bachman ….

October 12, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

A relatively upbeat Rick Perry suffered a bit of a head-slapping gaffe in an appearance post-debate on the campus of Dartmouth College.

The Texas governor was comparatively energetic at his stop at the Beta Theta Pi fraternity on the Dartmouth College campus, taking questions on energy policy, Social Security, and states rights.

But he stumbled in his answer to a young woman’s question about states’ rights; Perry said that one of the “reasons we fought the revolution in the 16th century was to get away from that kind of onerous crown.”

The Revolutionary War was fought in the 18th century.

“Excuse me, Mrs. Wells, will we be expected to know dates on this test?”

Damn gotcha fraternity members.

Michele Bachman didn’t know where the shot heard round the world originated, but she probably generally knew when it was shot.  I mean, within a century or two.

Last Night’s Debate

October 12, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I watched last night’s Republican dinner table debate.

It reminded Juanita of her ex-husband’s family at Thanksgiving — boring and tragically redneck at the same time.  “The only really cool part,” Juanita says, “is the 666 thing that Michele Bachmann came up with, and even that was incredibly creepy.”

Ya know, if we could have thrown in a quart of tequila, a couple pounds of glitter, and a gay table dancer, that might have been a good debate.

Thanks to Carl for the cartoon this morning.

Rev. Jeffress and Rick Perry

October 11, 2011 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Like most folks, I watched Rev. Robert Jeffers of the First Baptist Church of Dallas and my gaydar went nuclear and melted down to a pile of manure.  On the upside,  it was very glittery pile of manure.

Well, customer Sam did some checking and discovered that Rev. Jeffers and the First Baptist Church of Dallas ought to be on Rick Perry’s payroll.  Not only does Rev. Jeffers endorse Perry on the freeking 50(c)3 website, but even puts in on the front page.

Here’s a screen shot I took before their lawyers alerted them about tax exemptions.  Click the little one to get the big one.

Momma is a Baptist but, but as she constantly says when asked what religion she is, “not THAT kind of Baptist.”  She is the Bill Moyers kind of Baptist.  She voted for Obama and will do it again.  She don’t need any prissy high livin’ silk suit slick talkin’ preacher man telling her how to vote.  She will read what Jesus has to say and vote accordingly. She is THAT kind of Baptist.
