Making a List, Checking it Twice

December 02, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Just in case history does indeed repeat itself …

On December 2, 1954, the Senate voted to condemn Sen. Joseph R. McCarthy for “conduct that tends to bring the Senate into dishonor and disrepute.”

… I am making a list of who needs to be next.

I mean, beside the obvious Ted Cruz.

Remember When Tucker Carlson Left Crossfire and You Thought He Crawled Back in the Hole He Came Out Of?

You were wrong.

Tucker is back, as weird as ever.  His tales are still taller than they are wide.

Screen Shot 2013-12-02 at 10.06.49 AMHis latest is to defend Lara Logan’s Benghazi story that was based on lies because “sometimes the best stories have flaky sources.”

Uh, really?  You mean like the Dominican prostitutes Tucker’s website attempted to pay to make up stories about Democratic Senator Bob Menendez?   You mean like that?

Tucker also whined about the unfairness of Martin Bashir reply to  Sarah Palin’s totally insane comment about African Americans not understanding slavery with a reporter on 60 Minutes who tried to make a name for herself by replying on a faulty source on a very serious subject.

Tucker Carlson:  Political reporting’s answer to Britney Spears.

Thanks to Kyle for the heads up.

Don’t Bet Against a Winner

Some of you may (or probably not) heard of Frankie Muniz who used to be on a show called Malcolm in the Middle.

His options have been oh, shall we say lacking, since that show ended so his latest career move is ObamaBashing.

He tweeted this:

The 27 year old really, really hates Obamacare.

Then, all of a sudden, Muniz develops health problems.  He’s had two mini-strokes.  He’s a mess.

Now, I want you to find me a health insurance company who will insure a 28 year old who has had two mini-strokes.  Raise your hand if you know one.  Hummm …. no hands raised.  I guess we have an answer.

I ask the kid to tweet a mea culpa but I doubt he knows album moths from shinola.  (And there goes 2/3rds of the Latin I learned in high school wasted on Frankie Muniz.)

Thanks to Mark for the heads up.

And That’s All There Was To It

This “outreach” thing with the Republican Party doesn’t seem to have a handle on it because nobody is picking it up.

Reince Priebus issued a statement thanking Rosa Parks for her role in “ending segregation.”

And the Republican National Committee picked up that ball and headed lickity split to the wrong end zone.

Guys, it ain’t over.  And, most of all, you ain’t helpin’.  At all.  None at all.

Thanks to Deb for the heads up.

If You Need Something to Read Today …

The reviews of Sarah Palin’s new book about the War on Christmas are in and they are entertaining.

And Paul Crouch, my favorite gospel grinder died yesterday.  Crouch had been partners with Jim Bakker and Jimmy Swagwart but somehow managed never to get caught … if you don’t count the $425,000 in pay-off money to an employee who claimed a homosexual relationship with him.

Paul+Crouch+Paul+and+JanI admit to a fascination with the Crouches.  I watched them once a month or so like you watch a Vegas show.

The center of Trinity’s lineup has long been the nightly talk show “Praise the Lord.” Hosted by the silver-haired Crouch and his flamboyantly coiffed wife, it emanates from an Orange County studio decorated with stained-glass windows, gilded imitation antiques and plush pews for the audience.

The extravagance carried over to Crouch’s personal life, provoking criticism from watchdog groups as well as members of his family. He and his wife had access to TBN’s multimillion-dollar private jets and more than two dozen ministry-owned homes, including his-and-her mansions in Newport Beach, a mountain retreat near Lake Arrowhead and a ranch in Texas.

So after living high on the hog by taking money from poor people in the name of Sweet Jesus, Crouch stands before his maker today and tries to say why he really, really, needed seven houses and a gold plated chair to preach from.  You know, like Jesus had.

Hope and Change

There’s going to be a few changes around this joint.

First, if you go to TELL JUANITA, you will notice that you now have to fill out something called Captcha.  That’s because some spammers got ahold of a way to bypass the online comments and fill my mailbox with things no decent human being would ever have the nerve to say to me.

I am sorry about this.  However, I operate from the theory that the more crap you put up with, the more crap you’re going to get.  So, please do no not let this discourage you from sending me messages.  That’s where I get 90% of my ideas.  Get to work!  I need stories.  (By the way, Fun With Guns is only Fun With Guns if nobody gets killed, unless it’s an accidental self inflicted gunshot.  Maimed is okay, though.)

Customer and all-around good person Anna in Austin is kind enough to make these changes for me.  There will be other changes that you won’t see but will make my life so much easier.
