Meet Todd Kincannon, the former executive director of the South Carolina Republican Party.

He’s a pro-life protestor and commentator.

He has a solution for ebola.

What Is This? Crazy White Woman Day?

October 04, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Look, if it’s gonna be crazy white woman day, I want my turn!  First we have the Attorney General candidate in Arkansas and now this.

Screen Shot 2014-10-04 at 1.28.03 PMA white female Colorado Board of Education member has decided that slavery was … oh, I’ll just let you read it because you won’t believe me.

Yes, we practiced slavery. But we also ended it voluntarily, at great sacrifice, while the practice continues in many countries still today! Shouldn’t our students be provided that viewpoint? This is part of the argument that America is exceptional.

Voluntarily?  Holy cow, woman.  So you just cut 1861 to 1865 out of American history?  There was a voluntary war during those years.

Y’all, by “at great sacrifice,” I think she means the economic advantage of having slaves.

And America is exceptional because all the rest of the world has slavery.  We are exactly as exceptional a Italy.  And Norway.

Rules for Republicans

October 04, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Rules are different for Republicans than for the rest of us.

Let me give you just one example.

imagesLeslie Rutledge is running for attorney general of Arkansas.  She’s a Christian, pro-life, gun carrying conservative.  You know that because it’s pretty much all she says.  And you’ll note that she never, ever says she’s law-abiding.  Because she ain’t.

It seems that when Leslie up and decided to run for Arkansas attorney general, she was relying on the fact that she registered to vote in Arkansas in 2006.  However, she also registered to vote and did vote in Washington in 2008 and then in Virginia in 2010.  She subscribes to migrant voting patterns.

Well, the Libertarians have a candidate in that race and they brought Leslie’s voting records to the attention of the Pulaski County Clerk who followed the law and canceled her voter registration.

Under Arkansas law, it is a felony for a person who is not a qualified voter to vote in an election. State law also prohibits anyone who is not registered to vote in the state from being elected to public office.

All she has to do to correct this is come re-register at the county elections office.  But, noooo ….

She decided to do the whole poor put-upon white Republican woman, the single most discriminated group in the whole damn world.

She did not let-up stomping her feet and whining even when it was pointed out that “a Republican-backed 2013 law imposed rigorous new voting guidelines.”  In short:  Honey, it’s your bed, go to sleep.

She proceeded with her dog and pony show but when the dog peed everywhere and the pony didn’t know any tricks, it started becoming abundantly clear that Democrats were right in claiming that when Rutledge left a position as lawyer with the state Department of Human Services in 2007, DHS officials placed her on a “do not rehire” list, citing “gross misconduct.”

Rutledge has said that action also may have been politically motivated, saying she worked at DHS under Democratic officials and left to work for former Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign.

Yeah, yeah, they made stuff up because you’re a Republican.  Wait, wait, you mean the same Mike Huckabee who was Governor of Arkansas?  That dog don’t hunt.

Rutledge also has drawn criticism over a television ad that features her speaking into the camera and vowing to “stand up to Obama and fight for Arkansas values.” The ad is paid for by the Republican Attorneys General Association.

The pro-Democrat group Southern Progress has questioned whether the ad is legal, saying a political candidate cannot legally coordinate activities with an independent expenditure organization, or super PAC, and that a super PAC is barred from “expressly advocating” on behalf of candidates.

Rutledge says that since she didn’t use the word “vote” in the ad, it’s perfectly legal.  Yeah, she said that.

Rutledge said she believes her campaign has been subjected to an unprecedented level of attacks and said her gender as well her political affiliation may be a factor.

I dunno, it seems to me that your sense of entitlement is the main factor.  Just because you have a pair of red boots doesn’t make you Superwoman.

Thanks to Elizabeth for the heads up.

Fun With Guns: Bankruptcy Court Edition

October 04, 2014 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Next door to the Grand Rapids Police Department is the U.S. Bankruptcy Court building.  Inside that building are court officers cleaning guns.

A court officer accidentally shot himself in the hand while cleaning his gun inside the U.S. Bankruptcy Court building in Grand Rapids Friday afternoon, a source tells 24 Hour News 8.

The officer did not sustain life threatening injuries, but it’ll be a while before his ego injuries heal.

The situation created a large presence of emergency responders, police and fire trucks at the scene for about 30 minutes Friday afternoon.

Maybe he should look into bringing a clean gun to work.

A Woman Scorned Will Hurt You, Dude

Okay, so there’s this Rightwing Republican state senator in North Carolina named Wesley Meredith.

He’s a stinker.

Earlier this week, the senator’s 19th district opponent, Fayetteville attorney Billy Richardson, released financial and public assistance documents to the media showing the couple was on Medicaid and WIC.

UnknownAnd where did Richardson get the documents to prove that Meredith was taking Medicaid and WIC while making a six-figure income?  Oh yeah … Meredith’s ex wife.  She says she didn’t know about it until her divorce lawyer discovered it.

Fun, huh?  Hypocrisy is always fun to watch.

But it gets better.

When the documents were first released on Wednesday, the Senate Republican caucus responded —

The North Carolina Republican Senate Caucus put out a statement Tuesday calling the accusations “desperate and despicable.”

“The only thing surprising about Billy Richardson’s wild accusations is that he didn’t stand on his desk and hurl them at the media. Less than 24 hours after the first public poll in this race showed him trailing by an insurmountable, double-digit margin, Richardson decided to drive his campaign into the gutter – the same place where he’s spent much of his professional and political career,” offered the group.

Yeah, yeah, gutter gutter.

But, they didn’t deny that the documents were true.

So, the Democrats respond.

“Senator Meredith has yet to disavow the allegations. Instead, he claims memory lapse in this matter. He then attempts to pivot away from the substance of the allegations by condemning them as a ‘below the belt personal attack’ and ‘something I will not engage in….’ Sadly, Senator Meredith fails to acknowledge his last two campaigns, which were hallmarked by innuendo and thinly veiled character assassination of then Senator Margaret Dickson portraying her as a prostitute and a thief as well as the nonstop derogatory assault on Democratic candidate George Tatum.”

Prostitute!  Thief!

Thou that pointeth the finger gets the finger pointeth back.

Now even the Republicans are asking him to step forward with the truth and all they hear is crickets.

Thanks to Larry for the heads up.
