Fun With Guns: Hitting the Pavement Edition

July 23, 2015 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Okay, so in Lancaster, Ohio, a volunteer decided that it was his duty to guard the military recruiting station.

recruit700Christopher A. Reed is 28 years old so you gotta wonder why he didn’t just join the Marines if he wanted to play with guns.  Reed was standing in front of the recruiting station at 12:01 pm and something predictable happened.

Reed told the officer who responded that he was standing, holding his AR-15 rifle in front of the military recruiting station to guard the personnel inside when someone approached him and asked if he could take a look at the weapon. Reed agreed to show him, and while he was trying to clear the ammunition from the weapon, he accidentally fired into the asphalt pavement.

Luckily, no one was hurt.

You’d think Reed would feel crummy about the irony of this situation but you’d be wrong.

Reed said he is not a military veteran. He described himself as an active gun enthusiast who makes a living working side jobs.

He downplayed the accidental shot fired.

“It is what it is,” he said. “Nobody got hurt.”

I dunno.  Aren’t side jobs something you do if you have a job?

This guy could have gotten extra points if he’d had missed the pavement and shot himself in the foot.

Thanks to Don for the heads up.

Locust! It’s The Seventh Sign!

Okay, this is true.  In north Texas, there’s a swarm of bugs so big that radar is picking them up.

Weather radar has picked up thousands of insects flying over Knox County, Texas, according to the National Weather Service of Norman, Oklahoma.

Rangers at Copper Breaks State Park in Quanah, Texas confirmed that the radar is picking up a large swarm of both grasshoppers and beetles.

I was glad they cleared that up.  I thought it was a horde of hate spewing from Rick Perry and Ted Cruz’s mouth.

Or that Donald Trump’s hair had just crossed into Texas.

Watch Your Butt

Hey, heads up.

imageA federal appeals court ruled Tuesday that accidental phone calls [butt dialing] aren’t private. You might not have intended for the recipient of the call to hear what you were saying, but you still called, and that means the recipient is entitled to listen—and even to record the call, the court said.

Two things:

1.  Check your cell phone before making whoopee.

2.  If Donald Trump butt dials you, you flip that phone on record as fast as you can.

Thanks to chloe bear for the heads up.

And This Is What Presidential Politics Has Come To

Lindsey Graham, a United States Senator —

Y’all, that is one step below ….

Well, it’s a well-run campaign.
Midget and broom and whatnot.
Devil his due.
Hell of an organisation.
Say, I got an idea.
What’s that, Junior?
We can hire us a little fella even smaller than Stokes’s.
You slump-shouldered sack of nuts!
Why, we’d look like a bunch of johnny-come-latelys.
Bringin’ out our own midget.
Don’t matter how stumpy!

This is a damn freak show.

Thank you, Sweet HeyZeus

Y’all, Donald Trump is going to visit the Tex-Mex border.

Trump is scheduled to visit Laredo on Thursday to hold a meet and greet with the local Border Patrol union, see the border and address local law enforcement officials.

I really, really think it’s brave of him to walk into Rapeville and Crimetown.

I visit Laredo often, even though it’s 300 miles from me.  To be honest, the Democratic Party Chairman in Laredo owns a great bar so that has something to do with my regular visits.

Laredo is one of the safest towns of its size in the entire country, but it is oh dear Lord hot. In August, the odds of Trump’s hair glue melting and running down his face are better than good.

I give him 15 minutes to start an international incident.
