Colbert Announces New Reality Television Series

June 03, 2019 By: El Jefe Category: Trump

I didn’t realize that Trump has a new reality television series starting next season, but Colbert got the scoop and announced it tonight –

He leaked the storyline which is based on a classic Shakespearean tragedy that expresses the dichotomy between a talented American actress who meets and marries a British Royal and a jealous, petty American stalker who hates her because…she’s happy and he’s a miserable dick.

Update at the bottom.

Trump embarrassed himself (and us) on the first day of his visit to the UK, ranting on Twitter about boycotting AT&T over CNN, attacking Meghan Merkle, and generally being the buffoon in the most sophisticated and proper society on the planet.  For those expecting more faux pas, Trump didn’t disappoint tonight.  We know that Trump dresses like a soup sandwich, wearing dumpy suits, cheap Made in China clown-length ties, and ill fitting everything.  Let’s face it – a seventy plus fat guy who lives on Big Macs, fries, and soft drinks pretty much looks like crappola in virtually anything he puts on.  But tonight, the guy who describes himself as “really, really rich” looked like he rented his white tie and tails from the aisle with the flashing blue light at Kmart.  He appeared tonight looking like some overweight gamer wearing a Fred Astaire costume to a Halloween party at the local YMCA.  His appearance, especially alongside Prince Charles was laugh out loud funny.  To wit:

Notice the white vest, known as a “waistcoat” in white tie parlance.  Look at Prince Charles, and the look at His Orangeness.  See the difference?  Trump’s waistcoat, obviously designed for someone who’s ACTUALLY 6′ 3″, hangs down a good 4″ below his tailcoat.  Prince Charles is fitted correctly, with his waistcoat, not bought off the rack, slightly shorter than the front of his tailcoat.  It’s a small, but very telling faux pas.  Trump passes himself off as an upper class elite billionaire who’s an expert in all things, including technology and climate science.  The problem is, he doesn’t know shit about proper formal dress, and obviously ignored any advice to the contrary.  For contrast, here’s how past presidents have worn the look.

I know this is nitpicking, but our female politicians suffer this criticism on a daily basis.  I find that all’s fair, so Trump deserves mockery for desperately begging for mockery for the way he’s dressed.

From late last year, George Packer of the Atlantic summarized the last 60 years of the GOP and nailed it, from pre-Goldwater to the Trump era.  Best quote:

“The corruption of the Republican Party in the Trump era seemed to set in with breathtaking speed. In fact, it took more than a half century to reach the point where faced with a choice between democracy and power, the party chose the latter. Its leaders don’t see a dilemma—democratic principles turn out to be disposable tools, sometimes useful, sometimes inconvenient. The higher cause is conservatism, but the highest is power.”

it gives a blistering picture of what we non-GOPers face against “true believers”.  And it ain’t pretty.

The Dictator Trump Loves

May 31, 2019 By: El Jefe Category: Dumpster Fire, North Korea, Trump

We’ve all seen Trump fawn all over brutal dictator Kim Jung Un, ignoring his human rights record, nuclear weapons threat, and outright brutality.  Last week, Trump sided with Kim against Japan, our most important Asian ally, after North Korea launched short range missiles towards Japan that fell into the sea.  Trump dismissed the launch saying,

“It doesn’t matter. All I know is that there have been no nuclear tests, there have been no ballistic missiles going out, no long-range missiles going out. And I think that someday we’ll have a deal. I’m not in a rush”

We all know that Trump is an unthinking, narcissistic ass.  No one or nothing is more important to him than himself.  He ignores his advisors, our allies, and all intelligence and law enforcement agencies.  He’s an “expert” and a “professional” in all matters, taking his own counsel.  He has done the same when it comes to Kim, playing games and coddling him.

Well, that behavior has now gotten at least five North Korean emissaries killed according to South Korean newspaper, Chosun Igbo.  Remember when Trump abruptly ended the sham negotiation with Kim over nuclear weapons last March?  Apparently, Kim showed his displeasure with Trump’s walkout by executing by firing squad chief negotiator Kim Hyok Chol and four of his staff.

The guy that Trump loves and trusts, who has a murderous track record, just murdered five diplomats because His Orangeness, in his all-knowing wisdom, is screwing around with nuclear weapons, close allies, and a brutal dictator for reality television storylines and more tweeting from the toilet in the WH.

Thanks a lot.

Trump Now an Expert in Aircraft Carrier Design

May 29, 2019 By: El Jefe Category: Alternative Facts, Trump

In Japan on Memorial Day, Trump criticized the Navy, IN FRONT OF THE NAVY, for replacing the old steam powered catapults that launch aircraft with new electric catapults.  In excoriating the Navy for cost overruns in the new system, he announced:

“I think I’m going to put an order,” the president continued. “When we build a new aircraft carrier, we’re going to use steam. I’m going to just put out an order: We’re going to use steam. We don’t need — we don’t need that extra speed.”

Drawing on his deep experience in maritime architectures and aeronautical engineering, Trump continued that steam is much more reliable than “digital”, even saying, “What is digital?” “What is digital?”  Wait…back in January when riffing on border security Trump proclaimed,

“The only [way] you’re going to have border security – there’s only [one] way. You can have all the technology in the world. I’m a professional at technology. But if you don’t have a steel barrier or a wall of some kind – strong, powerful – you’re going to have human trafficking; you’re going to have drugs pouring across the border; you’re going to have MS-13 and the gangs coming in.”

So, the president who is a professional at technology doesn’t understand what digital means?  Trump once again causes whiplash by simply freelancing when he’s in front of an audience and the cameras are rolling.  He doesn’t have a goddam clue what he’s even talking about, and I can just imagine how Navy personnel is receiving the message from the president of the United States when he is telling them their leadership is stupid.

But we all know who is stupid.

Well, Now We Know…

Remember earlier this month we were talking about John Bolton banging on the war drum and Trump moving military forces into the Persian Gulf?  There were ominous warnings about Iran’s aggression and our bases being put on high alert in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Remember, too, how no other country saw the threat and dared to say so? Well, just as quickly as the threat appeared, it also disappeared, ending when Trump, standing in the West Wing door, said, “I hope not,” when a reporter shouted the question about going to war with Iran.

Now we know what all that was about – arms sales to Saudi Arabia.  Trump has made some backroom deal with MBS and the House of Saud to sell weapons to them, along with the UAE and Jordan.  The trick?  By declaring a another fake emergency, Trump can bypass Congress, which approves arms sales to other countries.  Since MBS had journalist Jamal Kashoggi brutally murdered (and Trump didn’t do anything about it) Congress has refused to support the Saudi attacks on Yemen or to approve arms sales to them.  So, Trump just ignored Congress, again.

This is how Trump operates.  When the invertebrates in Congress occasionally stand up, or when the courts step in, Trump just disregards the law and acts unilaterally to do what he wants.  The strength of our system of government is also its greatest weakness.  The Founders designed a system of checks and balances to keep power in check.  The problem with that system is that they never dreamed that each of the branches of government would be simultaneously corrupt; they anticipated a Trump-like president, so gave the Congress co-equal power to control or remove him/her if necessary.  If the Congress is also corrupt, the system collapses, and this is exactly what’s happening.  Trump does what he wants, lines his own pockets, destabilizes entire regions of the world, and is making the US an unstable oligarchy with widening social injustice and gaping income inequality.  When Congress does makes some lame effort to slow his corruption, His Orangeness just doubles down and does what he wants.  McConnell and company just shrug, since they’re busily packing the courts with radicals and weirdos while Trump infests the WH.

At least we now know why the fake concern over a fake threat from Iran so Trump can declare a fake emergency to funnel weapons to his fellow oligarchs who are differentiated from him only by their garb, language, and hair style.
