Can’t I Leave You People Alone For Even One Day?

June 16, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Oh dear God.  Where are we going and why am I in this hand basket.

Number One:  His problem is that he can’t see dead people.

Texas Senator John Cornyn left the asylum and spake thusly during the Democratic filibuster …

“We’re trying to find out … whether this is an effort to find a solution and common ground or whether this is just an effort to try to embarrass people,” the Senate’s No. 2 Republican told The Hill Wednesday evening. “I haven’t yet concluded which one it is.”

It’s about dead people, you goofy old fool.

But, if you’re looking to place blame, you have …

Numero Two-o:  Goofy old fool John McCain knows who is responsible for Orlando.

Republican Sen. John McCain said Thursday that President Barack Obama is “directly responsible” for the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida, because of the rise of the Islamic State group on the president’s watch. But he later issued a statement saying that he “misspoke.”

Misspoke, my patootie.  If he had said he was drunk again just like the night he pick Sarah Palin, I could buy that.

Numero Three-o:  This is the bottom of hell.

The Orlando shooter and his wife exchanged text messages during the Pulse nightclub rampage, a law enforcement official briefed on the investigation told CNN.

Around 4 a.m. on June 12, about two hours after he started the attack and while holed up in a bathroom, Omar Mateen texted his wife, Noor Salman, asking if she’d seen the news, the official said.

At one point, she responded with a text saying that she loved him.

I can’t even think about that.

Thanks to Paul, Deb, and others for the heads up.

Be social and share!

  2. During the Vietnam war negotiations, I remember the press reported the participants couldn’t agree on the shape of the table they would use for discussions.

Those people from the 1970’s look reasonable today.

That alligator in Florida had better brains than the snacilbupeR

Susan, sweetie. You can leave us alone for a day. You’ve done it before. Remember that cruise you went on? We were nice to each other and played well.

Now… the snacilpubeRs? Well, honey, they need constant, and I mean CONSTANT supervision. So don’t fret. This is just today’s crazy. There’ll be more tomorrow. You can count on that. Just kick back and have a cocktail for me.

  5. slipstream says:

Say it loud: George W. Bush signed the binding agreement withdrawing combat troops from Iraq . . . but the agreement was written so that the withdrawal would occur after he left office.

By McCain’s argument, George W. Bush is directly responsible for the mass murder in Orlando.

  6. Chloe Bear says:

Agree with 1 and 2 and just the mere mention of Cornyn sends shivers down my spine. The creep lobbied against the 9/11 bill among other horrendous things. I disagree with number 3, I suspect his wife is a victim of abuse.

  7. Elizabeth Moon says:

I swear both Cornyn and McCain are now certifiably senile.

  8. Aggieland Liz says:

To add to Chloe Bears synopsis, I am never at my best at 4am. And if my sweetheart, who I love dearly, texted to ask if I’d seen the news, my first thought would not be that HE was the lead story/breaking news covering a hostage situation in a town 2 hrs away.

On the other hand, the San Bernardino attack was all planned out and agitated for by the wife.

I think I will be the one to go have a cocktail…

  10. Gramiam says:

Elizabeth, As an Arizona resident, I can tell you that McCain has been senile for years. The days when the “lights are on, but nobody is home” are more frequent these days. I used to enjoy riding the bus past his office in Phoenix to flip him the bird, but it just isn’t fun any more.

  11. Marge Wood says:

Talk about trying to embarrass people…I’m embarrassed that hanging out with Cruz has corrupted Cornyn so much.

    11
  12. Chloe Bear, I agree; if the dude lived to come home and the wife *hadn’t* said she loved him, he might have inflicted more damage on her–and from what I’ve read, she’d already had enough.

    12
  13. Old Fart says:

McCain is just showing us that being a Senator, not being an agent of betterment for his constituents/people of the US of A, is what he is concerned about. This is a guy that knows first hand about the physical damage military grade weapons can incur, represents survivors of mass shootings that occurred while he was ostensibly their public servant, and he won’t do anything to keep it from happening again.

If he believes that keeping a token occupation force in *Iraq* would’ve stopped the formation of ISIL in Syria, presumably in part by Baathists that George W released from service, then, oops… Oh yeah, how many centuries have the Shia and Suni been at this??? What happened in 1915?

We have been committed to a cause that was most likely lost before our nation was formed. Certainly it was complicated even further by the moronic willfulness that Shrub used to drag us into McCain’s fantasies

    13
  14. McCain’s problem wasn’t that he misspoke. It was that he spoke.

    14
  15. two crows says:

Cornyn, here’s a clue: They weren’t trying to embarrass you. In fact, as hard as it may be to believe, this wasn’t about YOU at all. I’m not as big a spirit as the people who held the filibuster [AND WON] however. I wish you had been embarrassed — but, since that is beyond your capabilities, I know you were not embarrassed. Just sniping. Because they are Democrats and a microphone was nearby.

As to McCain, what slipstream said.

As to #3: it has now been confirmed. The shooter’s [I won’t write his name here. He deserves no commemoration] wife was, indeed, abused. This is a common sort of behavior for those who have been repeatedly abused. Not an excuse, of course — just a fact.

And to LynnN: Your comment was so awesome that you broke the internet today! Congratulations!

    15
  16. Linda Phipps says:

I would like to see all those press-ghouls banned from Capital Hill. They corner the worst politicians who have the worst to say, catch them at some ill-considered comment. Maybe it’s good and maybe not. But republicans know fully well that the first thing past the filter and out of the mouth is the one they will be known by.

    16
  17. Chloe Bear says:

SENATE LOCKS IN GUN VOTES FOR MONDAY: In the first sign of bipartisan cooperation on the guns issue after the killings in Orlando, the Senate has agreed to vote on four gun bills: Cornyn’s bill to keep guns out of the hands of terrorists and a Democratic alternative from Sen. Dianne Feinstein as well as a universal background checks bill from Sen. Chris Murphy and a GOP alternative from Sen. Chuck Grassley. There are a couple tweaks from past iterations, but three of these proposals have received votes in the past seven months and the Grassley one got a vote in 2013. The expectation is they will all fail. http://goo.gl/GTXYkH

But: A group of GOP senators are talking to moderate Democrats about putting something together that, in their view, could pass the Senate. GOP Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire and Jeff Flake of Arizona are seeking Democratic co-sponsors for a bill that they believe would straddle the line between warring liberals and conservatives … “Democratic Sen. Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota confirmed she is speaking with the Republicans writing the measure, and sources working on the legislation said they hope that moderate Democratic Sens. Joe Donnelly of Indiana and Joe Manchin of West Virginia will join on as well.” Click through for details on what they’re working on: http://goo.gl/LtXHAf

  18. McCain and Cornyn have long been write-offs. McCain is likely to lose his Senate seat this time around. And its about time! As for the Moslem wife, I have some second hand experience with that situation. Some Moslem men adore – absolutely adore – their wife and some are like a lot of men elsewhere totally satanic. Ten to one she knew just enough about the blurry edges of what her husband was doing but not enough to risk her life to turn him in. Remember this: battered and otherwise abused women still don’t have the resources necessary across this country to safeguard themselves or their children. I would cut this woman a bit of a break, something like “material witness” a put her somewhere safe so that she cannot be a victim to a vendetta carried out by a radical.

  19. e platypus onion says:

McCain is correct. If Obama hadn’t totally messed up the Middle East metric by invading Iraq and destabilizing the region, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. Good thing Americans wised up and put that black feller Bush in the WH.

    19
  20. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Heidi Heitkamp, really Heidi? You voted with the snacilbupeR last time anything came up for a vote. What plans of treachery do you propose now?

    Embarrass the snacibupeR? If only…..

    1. ban on assault weapons
    2. background checks
    3. add those on the terrorist watch list to .2 (close the loophole)

If someone can demonstrate that any of those 3 restrictions impede their ability to hunt dinner for their family, give them an interview with John Cornyn.

    20
  21. buskyandme says:

Ted Cruz calls it a “political distraction” to discuss any gun control measures after the Orlando shooting, says Democrats are politicizing the issue. Okay, lets discuss gun control measures regarding the OTHER 38 people killed by guns on the same day in the United States. Lets discuss the 23 people shot by TODDLERS this year!

    21
  22. Dear JJ, I hope you’re continuing to have a great time in Alamotown. Also, I hope everyone there has seen the open letter from the Houston chronicle s editorial board today.” Dear Mr Trump”. I highly recommend it. I think I’ll go out on a limb and call it inspiring.

    22
  23. e platypus onion says:

Chloe Bear- maybe it would help if Dems brought LEGOS to class to demonstrate to wingnuts how to lay a foundation and build stuff with other’s help. Or, do you think LEGOS might be too complicated for wingnuts to understand?

    23
  24. Marlene says:

Not sure of the truthfulness of this but a comment heard on a talk show was the Cornyn bill would have a 3-day waiting period for those on no-fly list but at the end of the 3 days they would be given the weapon. That way when the shooter kills the Republicans can say the law didn’t work and if only the FBI or ATF was serious about saving lives. I think that what irks me the most. Stats are not allowed to be gathered, manufacturers can’t be held accountable. We sue car makers, McDonald’s for coffee that is too hot, cigarette manufacturers, etc. but no one is allowed to hold gun makers & sellers responsible. In Orlando the guy who owns the gun shop selling the guns hates Muslims, has signs up and is an ex-cop. Shouldn’t HE have known the guy was dangerous?

    24
  25. e platypus onion says:

and just to poss off wingnuts, make the LEGOS rainbow colors.

    25
  26. Sanborne Addison says:

As for #3, that’s called accessory before the fact, if she drove him there; otherwise, if she simply failed to tell, she might be guilty of misprision of a felony, and might be able to raise the defense of (a) marital privilege or (b) battered spouse syndrome. If she drove him there and waited for him to come out so she could help him escape, she is chargeable in this state with capital murder.

    27
  28. The wife’s spokesperson has issued a clarification: “Auto-correct transposed ‘loathe’ to ‘love’.”

    28
  29. If discussing gun control after a shooting is a”political distraction” and out of bounds then we can never discuss it because the shootings are constant.

We have over 30,000 gun deaths a year in this country. That’s an average of over 82 deaths a day, every day. That includes suicides and accidents, but it’s still people who likely would not be dead if there had not been a gun in the vicinity.

    29
  30. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Marlene, welcome to the snacilbupeR world of st00pid and plausible deniability. And, the “poison pill” that the ‘Cons add to too much legislation. 3 days isn’t a long wait time; add to that the snacilbupeR defunding of govt agencies and the overall effect of sequestration, Charles Manson could probably purchase an assault rifle on the internet. Fortunately, the low level employee in a prison mail room has better sense than the snacilbupeR in Congress.

Your ears heard right about the Cornyn bill. It was ineffective, and meant to be so per John’s instructions from his sponsors. Quite honestly, I don’t trust Didi Feinstein either.

However, Sen Chris Murphy and many of his Democratic colleagues have had enough. They’re with President Obama who also has had to comfort too many families after these NRA sponsored carnage in a barrel tragedies. 80-90% of Americans “get it.” The snacilbupeR and Blue Dogs in Congress have a choice: tell their sponsors that they have protected them as much as possible, but when it comes to assault rifles it’s the “end of the line.”

    30
  31. I heard the same thing about Cornyn’s 3 day rule. Which is interesting. Because unless things have changed since around 1999 (when I won a rifle in a raffle), the same rule was in effect for all guns. The main difference being that at that time the gun seller had the option of waiting for approval no matter how long it took. But was legally ABLE to make the sale after 3 days even if the background check hadn’t been completed. So if I’m not totally paranoid it sounds like our good senator wants to make it EASIER to get a gun. Hmm. Am I over thinking this?

    31
  32. eyesoars says:

John Cornyn as Dr. Malcolm Crowe in The Sick Sense

    “I can’t see dead people.”

“Dead people like, in graves? In coffins?”

“I just walk around like a regular person, but I can’t see them. It’s like they don’t vote or something.”

    32
  33. e platypus onion says:

Wingnuts put the onus on the FBI to do the necessary checks on time, but as you have seen lately, the wingnuts in Congress are chipping away the budget so the FBI and IRS can’t do their jobs. It is just a part of the plan to shrink gubmint.

    33
  34. Linda Phipps says:

How many senators does Texas have? Are they all this awful with the exception of Julian Castro.

    34
  35. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Linda Phipps, Texas only has two Senators like all the other states. But it sure seems like more due to their constant bleating. As for their House wingnuts, last I knew it was 36.

Why would I even know that trivia on House seats? Because NV has 4 and I would willingly jettison 3, if TX would ditch 27.

    35
  36. JJ, so far there are no reports of you dancing on table tops! Seriously, don’t let all the bad karma in this world get you down! Go for it!

    36
  37. e platypus onion says:

Castro is a state Senator. Corncob and Crud are poor excuses for human being US Sinators.

    37
  38. Polite Kool Marxist says:

e platypus onion, the Castro twins are rising faster than the Castro brothers. Julian is at HUD. Joaquin is the US House of Representative from the Texas 20th District.
